YES! when you pointed out how all 3 of hybes girl groups don't have the same sound I could not have agreed more, they have that hybe production but they sound so different and each have their own unique characteristics!

ILLIT is a girl group which is composed of 5 members :
Wonhee (Korean. She was born in 2007), Minju (Korean. She was born in 2004), Yunah (Korean. She was born in 2004), Iroha (Maknae. Japanese. She was born in 2008) and Moka (Japanese. She was born in 2004).
The girl group was formed through a survival show called "R U Next?" which was a collaboration between JTBC and HYBE.
The group debuted on March 25, 2024 with "SUPER REAL ME" Mini Album.
Love these two songs! They are so fun, catchy and happy!

*Done watching 10 eps of R U Next and all I can say:*
*1. These girls worked their asses off to be able to get that spot in the debut line up.*
*2. They are goddamn talented AF, Hybe made sure to pick the best apples from the basket, the challenges Hybe put them through are no joke (it’s bordering cruelty during elimination - as what judges also say)*
*3. These girls are so versatile - ofcourse Hybe decided on a cutesy bubblegumish kind of concept for the debut album but anyone who watched R U Next, saw that these girls can do so much more than cutesy stuff. Every episode and challenge showcased a different concept. It’s been a while since I watched a survival show (my last one was Produce 101 in 2016). I cant wait for future albums and I hope they follow the steps of Girls Generation - from cutesy to all kinds of concepts in every album because damn, from what I saw on the show- they can!!!*
*4. Despite all these “newjeans copycat” accusations, no, they arent. Sure, prior to watching the show I thought the same, but after finishing 10episodes, these allegations against HYBE are groundless. If Hybe truly “intentionally” debut a girlgroup copycat of newjeans, they could have picked CHANELLE as she’s very similar to New Jean’s DANIELLE. But they didnt pick her for the final line up so yeah, these accusations are baseless. And comparing the concept of NJ vs ILLIT, they are so different. NJ’s more on modernized Y2K whereas ILLIT is more of magical dreamy teen vibe.*
*Sure at some point people will insist the “copycat” narrative, but for me it really isnt. Of course there would be a few similarities because both groups are under one label so they share the same production team and probably some props. It’s like going in the same school but in different classes.*
*I resonate with ILLIT’s kind of music than NewJeans. That’s preference. And that’s perfectly okay.*
*And those who says nasty things about ILLIT, consider watching RU Next. So you can see how these young girls worked hard to get their spot on the debut line up. And maybe then you can be a bit more nice to these girls who are just trying to make their dreams come true and make a space in the kpop world.*
