As a Catholic currently studying theology, it’s very important that the Church does this. The church must draw a discernible line between the idol worship and the worship of God. Our blessed Mother Mary is an icon in the Church, yet we must not mistake that ultimately her presence must draw us only in closer union to Christ. I’m not trying to downgrade the importance of Mother Mary by any means, but it’s important to we worship Christ not Mother Mary or the Communion of Saints.
So, your studying Theology. You may want to go to a different school of Theology. One that's truly Catholic. A Monsignor once told me, "You may not have a degree in Theology, but you are a Theologian." And I can say what you have been taught is grave error. Catholics do not worship the Great Mother of God, we do not attribute creation to her, we do not declare her Omnipotent, omniscience nor omnipresent etc...

Christ did not want to be worshipped. The true Christ reminded we were made in his image To Do All things He can and greater and thay we could heal ourselves. Worship is sick indoctrination that robs each sovereign being of their own greatness. It's also quite interesting that the plural word Elohim was changed to singular, God confusing many because there were more than one God. We are also missing the Magdalene Chapters being held captive by the Vatican....

Wars and catastrophes of all kinds have been happening for centuries. They are nothing new. Alleged messages warning that a major catastrophe will soon strike unfortunately DO strike terror in the hearts of many well-meaning Catholics... But - I believe -- that is NOT the wish of the Holy Virgin: Her wish is for our conversion through sincere and regular prayer, reading the Holy Scriptures, devotion to Jesus, regular confession, fasting and good works.
God has NEVER used fear as a means of conversion - even if it appears that way in the Old Testament.
People need to know that even authentic visionaries may receive messages not of Divine origin. Please know that, where the Madonna appears, the Devil is never far away, trying to thwart God's plans... the Devil can appear as an angel of light. We are warned of this in the Bible.
Uh...fake apparitions are within the realm of probability. Misditected fear can and will lead to schism.

If you actually read the Bible you would know she WAS holy. She was full of grace, highly favored by God, and she who “all generations call blessed”. You will have a rude awakening when you meet God and have to account for all the times you denigrated His blessed mother.
The Angel Gabriel addressed Mary as "full of Grace"... in the Catholic sense meaning "without sin".
Do you seriously believe God would choose an UNholy woman to be the Mother of the Redeemer, the Savour, of God Himself?
The Angel also told Mary "Do not fear, for you have found favour with God." Can you understand what that means? Do you suppose God would say that to an ordinary sinful woman? You read.... but do you even understand and contemplate what you read?
The Holy Virgin Mary is also the Spouse of the Holy Spirit (who came spiritually down upon Her and made her pregnant) Do you suppose the Holy Spirit grants such priviliges to a sinner?
