Just purchased my dad a 2020 LT Z71 All Star Edition in the “Red Hot” color yesterday as a retirement gift after 47 years at his job. After my local incentives it was 41,500 out the door. Original sticker was 51,000 and some change. Needless to say he was happy. It’s a pretty sharp truck and they threw in the 1000 dollar wheel to wheel running boards.
That front middle seat doesn’t have a lot of padding. Weird that they needed to add storage under the seat when the back of the 6th seat is a storage console already
Andre I can not afford a brand new truck right now. so I found a 2020 lower trim Lt with 50K miles on it for $35K is it a decent price to pay ? Thank you
Great videos. I have the 2019 All-Star Edition LT V-8 5.3 Eco-tech 3 w/8 speed trans, great truck, great mileage no less then 15 city/highway mix and sometimes 22 to 26 mpg's on long trips, if I baby it. I'm averaging no less then 5 mpg's more then on my 2006 Silverado.
I have a Chevy Trailboss Custom with a 6 speed granny mated to a 5.3L. I heard there were two different 5.3L engines. So basically the 10 speed and 8 speed had a different engine and fuel management system. Is this true?
There are two versions of the 5.3 Liter V8 with the dynamic fuel management systems. One with either an 8 speed or one with the 10 speed automatic. The other 5.3 Liter V8 with the previous active fuel management gets a 6 speed. Both V8s with the new fuel management system are the same engine, just with different available transmissions.
Really hope you add a work/utility test to your truck reviews. This could include ease of loading, unloading, and securing various materials (sheets of plywood, 2x4s, bricks, and whatever else Andre will be willing to lift). As well as testing capacities and how items actually fit in addition to basic dimensions and calculated volumes, and tie down points.
It says it right on the window sticker at 7:11, the engine and transmission are made in the US. This generation of Silverado/Sierra is made in the US for double and crew cabs, I believe the regular cabs are made in Mexico. The previous generation had the crew cabs made in Mexico. Still, 38% of the parts on this particular one come from Mexico, likely a lot of the electronics. You can tell where any vehicle is made by the first number/letter of the VIN. If it starts with 1, 4, or 5 it's made in the US. 2 is Canada, 3 is Mexico, J is Japan, W is Germany, K is Korea, Z is Italy, etc.
My dad bought a 2019 Silverado basically the same truck as this one minus the 4x4. I like the truck, but the seats especially the drivers seat its like sitting on a sheet of plywood. Previous silverado seats were must more comfortable. Chevy went really cheap on this model in my opinion. Love these videos.
I thought the seats are pure garbage in half tons. Not sure why they went so cheap. I had a 2007 and 2011 1500 and both were very nice. My hd is nice seat wise but back, shew!! It'll work it to find a soft spot or just enough so lower back doesn't feel like a ball bat hit it.
I'd really like a wt base 4x4 double cab short bed 5.3 manual transmission, displacement on demand deleated the only features I'd like inside the cab is power windows and ac .... 16 inch rim 35 inch tire and locking diffs... the only other option would be with the 6.6 duramax.... but I'd be plenty happy with the 5.3 ....
When the ram was introduced I didn't really like it, but it has really grown on me. Ram and Ford do take the looks, and on the interior too. That chevy interior design just doesn't do it for me, it looks so bland... even on the top trim trucks. Ram wins for most modern luxury esq design, and I love fords chunky squared off dash, it works even in the base models.

I love my 2010 Sierra, even more after I mechanically deleted the broken LC9 AFM with TEXAS SPEED AFM delete kit and a few others SUMMIT racing parts. I’m going to keep it forever and buy a 6.6 HD Silverado/Sierra (that doesn’t have the junk lifters) or just get a 2022 Sequoia (or 2020/1) for fam damily driving (and reliability)if I like how they look, whenever they come out next year. I’m torn at the moment. Great stuff though and yes I don’t care about MPG. Can’t wait to see the next TRD Tundras and Sequoias coming out. Thanks TFL and Andre. Love this stuff.
My Colorado has the 8-speed. GM put out a TSB regarding this transmission in a bunch of different vehicles (referred to the 8L90 and 8L45). Basically the Dexron ATF they used from the factory up until 2019 doesn't work well with condensation that builds up in the transmission and causes it to shudder. The TSB calls for a complete fluid transfer, or flush, and replace the Dexron with a Mobil 1 ATF. I had this done under warranty at 30k miles and it feels like a completely different transmission. Before it would shudder quite a bit now it's very smooth and sorted.
The torque converter went out and there's a bunch of friction material and metal flakes in the bottom of my Pan and they refused to replace the pump also now stone the same thing again some getting tired of fighting with them. But the 6 speed I have as smooth like butter I haven't had a single problem with it since. I'm just fighting with them on 8 speed
