Actually Ring-necks are in fact venomous a quick google will tell you. Though harmless to humans, Ring-necked Snakes have specialized teeth at the back of the mouth that deliver mild venom, which is produced in the Duvernoy's gland
They are actually venomous believe it or not, but they bite so rarely and their venom is so mild that they are still quite harmless.
Ring-necks and red-bellies are among my favorite fossorial snakes, they always make my day better when I come across them. Nice work Chris!
Good comparison. Guess I never thought about rings being confused with other snakes, but that was me looking through the CO/AZ lens.
These snakes are adorable and so small! This was very educational
I agree :)
One of my favorite snakes. Love ringnecks.
My favorite! Absolutely beautiful. I haven’t seen or found one this year, but I know they are out there. Thank you for sharing.
So beautiful, so elusive, so many 1000's miles from me. Thanks for sharing these little critters so I can explore vicariously.
What a tiny snake!
Beautiful snake Chris! Amazing what you can find by just observing nature. Be well my friend! 🐍🐍👍👍
I'm curious to see if we have any ring snakes in Indiana.
Thank you for the video! I caught one today and looked here to find that it is, indeed a ring-neck snake!
I just came across a ring neck snake and a queen snake the other day, they look so much alike besides the obvious ring.
I have caught lots of red bellied or ring necked snakes in the redwood forests above Santa Cruz. I’m not sure which ones.
If the ring is complete, it's a good sign it is a Ring neck. Must be amazing there!
Found one today. Very small. Interesting species
Which kind was it? The Ringneck?
Very interesting never knew they were there
2 great species!
Thank you. I agree. What's your favorite?
@@chrisegnoto even though I have yet to catch one I'd say a ringneck
Thank You. 🙂❤
