      I play NL, WE, DG, & SoM as renegades. I've never played TS but the lore is up there. I dont know who i like best though. NL are least interesting as far as lore. Just edge lords with cool bat wing helms, which is enough for me to like them, but it's not great lore.

    I still think that Magnus would never have turned traitor if Big E hadn't been the greatest hypocrite and banned sorcery and librarians. After all, if he hadn't tried to block him, Magnus would have warned about the Heresy the very same day it happened

      He told Magnus he was made with psyhic abiliyies, by design. Then told him not to use his powers. I can see how this would lead to what Magnus could see as a wink and nod, to go into seclusion, and keep working to harness his abilities. Thus why the Emperor said, bring them to me, not Horus' call of exterminate.

      I think the whole Legion was tainted by Chaos from the get go and Magnus was at its heart. Not sure if it was by foolishness or that he knew but the taint was at the core of the Legion.

      @@darkhighwayman1757 The XV Legion is at its core imperator fidelis.
      In every scenario dialogue during the Battle of Prospero, the XV Legionnaires were shown to have given praise to the Emperor WHILE fighting off the Sanction Fleet. Even going so far as to believe the Sanction Fleet was a rogue attempt at overthrowing Imperial rule during the earlier skiemishes.
      I too would be pissed if the Imperium I have been fighting for has suddenly decided to destroy my planet with no prior warning.

      It would have seriously imbalanced the Heresy, the Traitors wouldn't have been at a serious disadvantage. The Emperor used tons of time and energy (and lost countless Custodes) keeping Warp entities from storming the palace from the Webway (see Master of Mankind by A.D.B.). Also, according to the Siege of Terra books, Ahriman was instrumental in helping get the Traitor fleets to Earth quickly, saving them months, a crucial time frame as Guilliman and the Lion were on their way

      Also, Michael, know you won't read this but Horus was born on Cthonia; he was probably the luckiest in reference to homeworld even in context of Magnus's Psyker level luck.... At least in my opinion

      Horus wasn't born on Cthonia though, at least to my knowledge; being a Primarch, he will have been scattered with the rest. Plus, Cthonia was a pretty lawless world, and we know just about nothing about his early life, so I wouldn't like to compare the two.

    Ah the thousand sons, my favorite legion (with my second and third favorites being Imperial Fists and Salamanders) due to there unique talents, great armor, quest for knowledge, and wishing to remain loyal. It's such ashame that they were fucked from the start with Tzeentch playing them like a fiddle, everyone seemingly hating them, and the Wolf lords being hypocritical assholes. I would have actually loved it if the Space Wolves were told to dismantle there Wolf Priests as well to see what reaction they would have (especially when Daemons arrived).
    However after all this, one thing still remains odd to me...Why didn't the Emperor help cure the flesh change? I mean he needed the Thousand sons for something greater but turned a blind side when it came to the Sons of Magnus. It couldn't have been the same situation as it was with Angron. What do you believe? :o
    Also despite all the Thousands knowledge and relics being scattered and destroyed from the events at prospero. I have been working tirelessly to find all there relics and store them at my secret home. I've come to gather scrolls, tomes, books, weapons, armor sets, vehicles even, and etc. I've also come to gather other relics during my 10,000 years period (with mainly stuff from my species) but I'm quite impressed with all I've been able to find belonging to the Thousands Sons, here's hoping that damn Necrons lord doesn't find my home tho... >.>

    • @OmniGSage
      @OmniGSage 5 років тому +5

      The Persian connection is more where they are originally from on Terra, their theme (which also has a bit of Mesoamérican) I assume came from Magnus and Prospero. This sort of thing happened with most of the legions, for example the members of the legion that would become the White Scars were originally from the Scotland-Ireland region, and the original members of the Raven Guard were from East Asia.

    I wonder what it would be like if the Thousand Sons never turned traitor, that Magnus did not attempt to warn the Emperor. They might be useful in handling the webway, something that the Emperor really needs. Nice work as usual.
    I'm guessing the Imperial Fists are next, among my most favorites. Also do Grey Knights, Black Templars, Blood Ravens, Crimson Fists, few noteworthy successor chapters, notable Imperial Guard Regiments and, of course, the additional new info on the Primaris Marines along with the Indomitable Crusade, all this when you have the time. Maybe you can also do lore on the notable campaigns and battles as well. Keep it up!

    The Thousand Sons legion was not 1,000 legionaries total.
    In "A Thousand Sons", during the Battle of Prospero, it is mentioned that Ahriman counts about 1,000 survivors from the legion and states that it is “tenth of the Legion”. This indicates that the Thousand Sons had a full strength of 10,000 astartes.
    Magnus also tells his sons to submit to the punishment of the Emperor because it is just. Magnus, as usual, is a softy with his sons and cannot get them to follow his command. Only much later, when so many of his sons have fallen, does Magnus decide to fight.
    The Thousand Sons were always one of the best/worst legions in my view. Great potential, compelling direction and character, but they lacked any sincerity, proportion, or in general, they never grow up. They are talented childhood footballers that never get told no when they are young so they become spoiled children.
    Can you limit your use of power because you KNOW that the using it in front of people gets us in trouble? No
    Can you limit your use of power because you KNOW that it has something to do with instigating the flesh change? No
    Can you keep your word after agreeing to follow the outcome of Nikea? No
    Can you follow the word of your primarch to allow his arrest at the hands of Russ, thereby saving Prospero and perhaps the legion? No
    They fell because they could not balance themselves. That is why the quotes at the beginning of "Prospero Burns" are so important.
    There is no legitimate mechanism since the Horus Heresy that I have heard that explains the continual replenishing of the 15th either. Their story got sadly played out after the Battle of Terra and has been pretty badly done since then. Graham McNeill had a great book with "Thousand Sons", but then it more or less has been the road to "I don't really care what these nobodies do any more". Which is sad, because the planted seed from Graham was so promising.

    • @TacticaImperialis
      @TacticaImperialis  7 років тому +3

      I actually forgot to explicitly state it, but in Book 7 they state the Thousand Sons to be around 100,000. 63,000 ish were on Prospero, with the rest in the scattered fleets. Interesting insight into the 15th, I hadn't thought of it that way even though I can't say I 100% agree - remember, many within the Imperium wanted them culled before Magnus came along so they were pretty used to having detractors and critics.

    • @kingbaldwiniv5409
      @kingbaldwiniv5409 7 років тому +1

      Thanks for the commentary. Congratulations again on the 10,000 subscribers!
      In "The Crimson King" it indicates in a number of places that Ammon was an astartes, not a modified person like Kor Phaeron or Luther. Just read that bit yesterday.
      The flesh change plagued them before Magnus, this seems like a good reason to justify their culling. In hind sight, it is an even better reason, considering that Magnus had to work a deal with Tzeench in order to get done what little he could, which didn't hold.
      Magnus then later (in The Crimson King which I was reading yesterday) rebuked Ahriman for trying to undo the flesh change saying that he was only being deceived. This seemed like a reference back to Magnus' deception at the hands of Tzeench.
