Remember everyone, everything is engineered to fail not engineered to last.
It's engineered to fail at the easiest to replace part
Planned obsolescence
Literally. I once overheard a story between a salonist and a sales associate selling salon products. They were talking about having to replace their hair dryers about once a year. We're talking couple hundred dollar dryers here. But the saleswoman said that whenever her hair dryer broke, she just broke out her old dryer that she used in beauty school, and used that until her new one came in the mail. Her 40 year old hair dryer still works but the new hair dryers break every year?? These days at least, things are definitely engineered to break🥲
Nothing lasts forever

One of the wwf games would also destroy the analog due to the circular motion you had to use to kick out of pins. If you were fat enough, matches could last for a long time before you and your opponent would be unable to kick out.
In most of Europe, consumer laws give you 2 years of warrenty.
I work in an electronic store and the customers litterally walk out with a new stick if they experience stick drift within 2 years.
Even Scuf controllers? I read they only have 6 months. Do you know anything about that? Would suck to have to get a new scuf every other 4-5 months lol
@@sannydahlbeck3217 2 years warrenty on everything you buy. It's the law, and companies can't put the custumer at worse terms. Litterally everything. (okay there are a few exceptions, like food or single use cups and other stuff not normally meant to last more than 2 years)
Maybe warrenty is the wrong word. We call it reclamation. I'm not sure if this word is used in English, and it's a bit different from warrenty.
The law states that a company can offer further warrenty that goes beyond the reclamation, but newer put the custumer in a worse position.

I connected an XBox One controller to my computer so I can control a plane in GeoFS with a joystick. The problem with this is that GeoFS doesn’t come with a calibrator and my Joystick isn’t centered properly.
So sometimes when my joysticks are at zero on my controller the plane will pitch upwards or bank right despite me not doing anything.
They are pretty sensitive so when I move it to try to centre the plane it will sometimes do something and mess up.

We don't need repair hacks, we need consumer protection.
You can temporarily fix the potentiometer drift with some very, VERY precise cleaning and adjustments. I would not advise a casual user to do such, but if you or someone you know is experienced in electronics repair, it'll stretch its use out for a few more weeks so you can plan to buy a new stick (or new controller).

Massive Kudos to you for bringing up the Sega Saturn 3D Control Pad. The Dreamcast controller also has similar tech
Such simple technology that has been lying there for almost 40 years and no other companies want to make use of it. Obviously controllers are a great way to make money for a company. But there is a lot of respect from gamers for just making the devices that are sold durable.
