+999a0s lol, gen is definitely not a "terrible character", at the time he was a less explored char so nobody (except xian) knew his strength but now is clear he is at least a mid tier char, maybe even better than that.
Xian played against himself .he played diago as if he was playing a grappler ,he did alot of blockstrings that was not good for a right space to apply pressure, his block strings left him at a range where diago could at times punish him if xian choose to jump after rappid hand on block, in this case diago could pressure him with hadoken an force bad jumpin from xian or xian would have to work hard to get at mid range where he could be more effective ,also diago judgment of movement is on point an has a wide range set ups on hkd
Fuck that guy, only 12 year olds like him that started with SF4 and not turbo like the rest of us have. He's fucking cringy too. The way he dresses is embarrassing for the age he is. Get laid ugly Asian virgin, if you can
thanks for upload, this was awesome to watch. so much more fun to watch daigo fights that is more about footsie and less about guessing which side akuma will land on.
It's so cool to see how Daigo still can adapt and adjust his play style, that's really what makes him a legend in the FGC. Look at the difference between how he handled Xian's Gen in CC last year versus how he does now; the fact that he's been playing SF for so long and is still evolving is amazing.
The more I see Daigo play, the more I come to the belief that Daigo is 98% in control of his fate in these matches. I mean with what Seth said about Daigo at EVO when he said Daigo says he's above winning, I believe it. I feel if Daigo wants to win, he WOULD.
Apparently you didn't watch the EVO 2013 top 8 with a wide variety of characters played including Hakan. And it was a big surprise that somebody won with Gen.
It's different when you're going through a bracket of people opposed to focusing on one person. Daigo also had how many weeks to prepare and develop a gameplan? He also said he wanted to make Xian burn meter to take away his FADC option. Without that Gen is just a basic footsie character. I'm pretty sure Daigo has better footsies too. Don't be surprised if he bodies Infiltration too.
So far, what we know for sure is that they're getting rid of the cr. mk to dp shortcut, so it's easier to walk forward for the cr. mk to fireball poke.
Xian prepared for an exhibition, Daigo prepared for an annihilation. This offensive style of Daigo is unreal. I mean brutal.... And to finish it off with 2 U's and end 1 before with a perfect. That's utter annihilation....
Daigo said in the interview that he practice a lot before this match. He now knows all the ambiguous setups and jumps in etc that Gen is capable of. He said that the only point to worry about is Gen´s super and ultra, thats why daigo forced Xian to waste his meter to aproach him. He was more confident and learned a new stile to face him. So its not that Daigo has two stiles, Daigo will learn an adapt himself to the challenge.
What "aces" or tech (besides that jump hk setup) did Daigo reveal during this set? Daigo's weakness in the Gen match-up was trying to block those ambiguous setups that Xian does. Daigo even admitted this and started watching patterns in Xian's gameplay and how to prevent/block this. Daigo just practiced against Xian's playstyle as well as Xian did to Daigo. Xian even said he'll 10-0 Daigo with his gameplan he prepared for the event. What more excuses can you say besides "a non-monetary match"?.
I don't get 15:32 why did they say there was no reason to light Xian on fire with the EX hadoken? 90% damage is still good damage and it would have been better than srk into ultra 1 even though it'll have been 100% damage right? since 90% has more hits? idk someone explain please
i don't think it's because other players have caught up, he only plays ryu and ryu has never had any secrets or tricky special moves but he plays just for fun now he said. and that he would pick a better char if all he wanted was to win but it isn't. even if you have seen a video on yt where he played another char, he probably plays them all. it's just very hard to beat certain chars with their vortexes like akuma, when it comes down to guessing it doesn't matter how good you are.
I know you're writing on Seths statement however if Daigo "clearly" did not want to win anymore, he wouldn't be practicing 24/7. Someone who clearly doesn't care to win anymore is someone like Alex Valle, whom doesn't practice 24/7, someone who clearly doesn't want to win anymore is someone like John Choi who doesn't play 24/7 like he used too. Daigo still Studies and Practices vs Opponents, Look what he did in preparation for Xian, is that someone who doesn't care about winning?
i agree as this is evident in the matches. These matches are impressive and even experienced players can get something out of watching them. Also, who even sandbags anymore? It made more sense back in my quarter-pumping days
Holy....when I see the time of the video 21:38, I was thinking, "Is it really the whole set?" If Daigo is in the Grand Final of EVO, he would have had a better chance at taking it from Xian than Tokido. Their style is just so much different. Anyway, this is why Daigo is my favorite SF player of all time!!
Daigo was extremely formidable! However, with that being said, I'm not foolish enough to think Xian's a fraud or that this will be the last off him. Both those dudes are world class.
It's cause Xian won Evo 2013, that Daigo became so interested in his Gen, and learned all the stuff about Xian and his Gen. I think it would've been very different if it was between Daigo and Xian at the Grand Finals at Evo :3
PR Balrog is a high level player no doubt about that. Not a top player. He got a nice streak during EVO2013. But even then, he even struggles to win local tournaments in the US. He lost to a random cammy just recently in Lanhammer 2013. Did he won anything at all this year in his local tournies?
You do know that Xian beat Daigo in South East Asia majors and Kuwait, right? In the recent Topanga Asia league, Xian and Daigo had a very close set of 12-10, Daigo's favour. The games were supposed to be first to 7 but the winner had to win by 2 matches: that's how close their set was.
Ok?,what's the point of this comment?, We already know Xian is godlike and is an Evo champ, but he just got 10-0d, let's not divert attention from that

What's concrete is Daigo's position in top 8 of sf4 evo dropping over the years. He won one exhibition match here, yay. Let's see if he drops out of top 8 for sf4 in evo 2014.

EVO2013 but got 10-0'd by Daigo. Still has a lot of potential
PR Rog made it into top 8 at EVO in 2009, 2012, and 2013 and he isn't a top player? Since when? Only a few players have seen top 8 in SF4 multiple times. If you think LPN is a "random Cammy" btw then you are sadly mistaken.

xian said after this that gen still has the advantage in this match up. In xians tier list ryu is below gen. Also the fact that ryu is a basic character means its harder to be dominant with him as everyone knows what he can and cant do
Xian is a great example of champion's coma. Once he won Evo he got way too cocky and as a result daigo who puts in more than 100% of his gameplay blows Xian out of the water. Xian was smiling through the whole thing, daigo on the other hand was on beast mode, truly intimidating and inspiring. Daigo is the epitome of a true champion. Daigo doesnt need the fame or anything he is always on the road of a warrior learning and adapting. He adapted to Gen he will never lose to a gen player ever again.
FT10, ends in 20 mins. In the past, Daigo has always played defensive waiting for reads against Xian's Gen, but this time he went in like he's playing Akuma. I've never seen Daigo jump in and focus-dash forward this much ever. Completely threw Xian off guard and never allowed him to do a single super-into-ultra.
that would be stupid, since by the time EVO '14 comes, ULTRA would have come out, and we still don't know the changes or what the new 5 characters would be like.
then employ such knowledge to your comments. Daigo didn't start learning how to deal with gen after xian won Evo, it was an ongoing process that spanned over many past encounters such as topanga, kuwait, etc.
Once again...Choosing to not play a Top-Tier does not equate to him not Wanting to Win. It would only be believable if Daigo quit hardcore playing all together, which he hasn't done yet. Daigo studied to learn how to beat Sako in their match ups, Daigo studied to counter Xians Gen. Daigo even switched his buttons out to silent ones to confront Infiltration at 25Th Anniversary. Are those tactics of one who doesn't want to win? Answer me Please!
Then how bout this, Daigo's strategy was to get Xian to use up meter, that's why he was usually at a life deficit, he wanted Xian to not have meter. There was an interview on this, just go to eventhubs.
i think you missed my point. i know there's nothing wrong with counter picking, it would even give daigo a better chance of winning against him but still he doesn't. because he doesn't play to win anymore, of course he does his best but he only wanna play for fun and to inspire other people to get an interest in fighting games, according to himself, and i believe this is also his job and no, if there is such a difference why did infiltration counter pick 2013? because yun is very hard for akuma

He's been working on this matchup for a while, pay attention to what the commentators are saying.
Daigo pretty much said.... 'you are EVO champion now, but when im ready to take the title, i will'. Damn!
2 things here are top notch. Firstly, Daigo's gameplay. Second, Zhi's commentary. He has has the perfect mix of sf knowledge and hilarious banter.
So far, what we know for sure is that they're getting rid of the cr. mk to dp shortcut, so it's easier to walk forward for the cr. mk to fireball poke.
Shingeki no Daigo indeed. Zhi is one of the best commentators as he knows the game extremely well and is also entertaining.
Hell no tokido hands down best akuma player can beat anybody but daigo has played with him so much that he know every thing about him.
Even after not winning the late EVO's, Daigo continues to show who is the BEaST.
Xian is such a nice guy, giving a helping hand to Daigo for that combo video, great pal!
He said that in the pre-game interview. It's just youtube. Just search it.
FYI Daigo asked Markman to set up ft50 against Infiltration. They are going to do an exhibition in TGS but it's gonna be like ft20 or something
6-0? Are you talking about the 25th anniversary tournament, or did i miss something more recent? Cause it's been a while since the 25th anniversary...

There are so many interesting references that Zhi is throwing in; it's a crazy, fun commentary.
Who's here in 2019/2020?

it's just very hard to beat certain chars with their vortexes like akuma, when it comes down to guessing it doesn't matter how good you are.
Daigo's pressure stunned Xian so much, it was ridiculous.
This have a bittersweet taste, must be the best Streetfight fight ever, but is someway frustrating seeing a guy been beated like this, historic match.
