Вставка
- Опубліковано 11 лют 2025
- In this bonus episode of Basic Nigerian History, Dr Catel explores the ancient civilisation known as the Nok Culture found in what is now central/northern Nigeria. He also mentions some Nok sculptures, going as far as to name drop the famous Killmonger from black panther.
BNH is going to be like a crash course on Nigerian history, but along the way will also touch on other parts of west african history.

I was born in Jamaica, After taking my ancesrty dna i realize that my bloodline is from Nigeria, Benin/Togo which brings me to do some research to see how.i actially got to 🇯🇲😀. Youre doing a great job man, thanks.
Wagwan sister
Nigerians love Jamaicans
Check out Olmec you might not even be from Africa the DNA tests are designed to say every1 comes from Africa. SuM of US DNA is actually 🧬 older than this planet 🌎
Majority “Black” Americans are indigenous to the Americas 1828 American definition is Indigenous Copper Colored Races. Our skin not black. Slavery was Kidnapping in America actually the West/North African MOORS brought Columbus to America they wit the colonizers

Wow I just started researching about this and I see you’ve just started your UA-cam videos. Keep it up 🙌🏾
We haitians are mostly related to the benin and nigerian culture and ancestry as well ! Love our african brothers 😄😄😁😁🇭🇹❤🇳🇬!
Thank you so much for this video!!!
nice am from NOK my grand dad is Ibrahim nok
Dam i need to know you😀🇯🇲
I learned the GBAGYI popularly known as GWARIS belonged to NOK origin. From these info I can tell the reason for their silence as Gbagyis are known to be peace loving people and the only tribe in Nigeria that has never gone to war we are known for our remarkable art in pottery. We don’t adopt other people’s culture hence our 0 popularity. LADI KWALI is a great reference (the lady on the #20 naira note in Nigeria currency). The greatest potter of all time.
Thank you. I've been researching this before the internet so am glad to see your intelligent approach. There is a lot more you can learn
Totally love Dr. Catel's humour
Really educative
Love this!
subbed
Why didn't they go to school to know about the Nok culture. Interesting video, a lot more details than when I was in secondary school.
Wow... learning something new
in from nok culture and we dont know where we actually came from luckily we have collected our tribe name back which is ham not jaba which the hausas were calling us
Beautiful girl
The Nok Culture is still there oooooo
Man, this makes ancient Greece look like the late starting underachiever! Yet another Black people to whom REAL civilization is owed.
Very informative, thankyou! May the illegal sculptures be returned back to the motherland.
1 needs to research deep into the spiritual traditions of the Yoruba and Benin peoples. Trust me the answers can only be unravelled and results are life changing
With Igbos as well.
@@ositaurama2243Um! Igbo.... is it a competition?
Thanks for this
This is pretty interesting!
Love your work. Love it
Nice to have some of these History preserved... Pls ensure to verify and keep records
Bro thanks for the video but the reflection of the light in your glasses is tripping me out man lol
Hahaha
A lot of these were stolen I heard. They shouldn't be selling around the world as they belong to Africa (Nigeria). There is a video of a auction at Christie's selling a Benin bronze head for £ 1.2 million in the early 90's. Adjusted for inflation that's about £ 3 Million.
Yep... There are loads hidden also hidden away in the basements of European museums, along with the human remains of Africans. Check the Sarr Savoy report on the restitution of African artefacts and the book Who Owns History
These cultures should be seriously researched and taught in our Primary and Secondary schools - Very Important!
The children of today are the Future! If we start now to let them know the TRUTH, in the near future, we will surely have a more knowledgeable and less confused Nation😉👌🏿
I intend to do that... Our History is top on my agenda...
What's the cultural significance behind the hat you have on?
NOK AND IGBO UKWU BRONZE are 2 Alien civilisations in Nigeria that disappeared after sometime
I like the Fez
Thanks for the vid! Enjoyed watching it. Some of the artifacts shown in the vid are however replicas. I hope by this time most artifacts from Germany and other European nations have been returned to the expanded gallery in Nigeria. .
Half video is about Nok sculptures being stolen, not about Nok culture itself.
Good one
Nok culture did not disappear. It lives on in the southern part of Kaduna, Nigeria. Both my parents are from there.
The people of ancient Nok are not the same as those that live there presently. That's why they say the Nok culture disappeared. The ancient Nok culture are ancestors of the Yoruba.
@@ADE-of-LAGOS well that’s new information. Thank you
Educative and hilarious ❤️
Do you think that these terracotta statues may be an early progenitor depictions of Yoruba Orishas??
Nik terracotta also have Yoruba Benin origins
The reflection on your glasses make your eyes look wild as fuck haha. Super interesting stuff though man
They need to be return back to the African people. I did my DNA, I found my African ancestors. Where from West, North, East and southern Bantu. From west Africa. I’m link to Nigeria, Ghana, Benin,Togo, and Mali.
The only way for a culture or ethnic group to no longer exist is that they lost in war by another culture or ethnic group and all that they were were wiped away
Pls 🙏🏽 who will help me with this question plsss
What are the factors that made Nigerian unity before it became a sovereignty
How you take sabi sey we no get vibranium for Africa? 😄
😂😂😂
Hello all. I suggest everyone read Jeremiah 8:19….taking the Hebrew scripture and putting it into an English translator.
You mean stole
1:32 i think that is actually a horse riding a horse
Nothing happened to them they became Muslims, I’m a northern Nigerian, and most of these sculptures were buried.
Caribbean - Jamaican and Barbados. dna test show 60percent Nigerian.
Jus like Black Panther. Olmec Colossal(Vibranium) Vs WestAfrica Pottery(Nok)
They don’t care na😹
Wetin concern dem concern clay
When they see people are getting rich from it they will start trying to find theirs
Vibranium😹
