Dude me too! Just all along the fucking coast right!
I want you to go to California for yourself
Do it while you're young! In two weeks I'll be moving to Japan. I from California and I've been living in the east coast for the past year. Road trips are amazing with the right people and music. Good luck!
This is the type of song that gets you jumping around dancing till you listen to the lyrics and feel somewhat depressed.
+Andrea Balboa Right, I can't remember when I first heard this. I think I was either crying, or either just laughing my head off in a jampacked sedan with my friends. Makes sense, I think I was just having a good time in the car when I heard it, and when I listened to it later, or maybe before, that's why I felt the 'feels'...
+Andrea Balboa I feel exactly the same
It's interesting, I feel somehow happy while listening to this. But it has happend to me twice, that I was happy, but I felt tears. It was just, wow.
Truth...
They Might Be Giants are really good at that type of feel too.
This is how my life would be if I had friends.

Lyrics ->
I want you to move to California for yourself,
I want you to find whatever your heart needs.
I want you to move to California for yourself,
But not for me.
I want you to go out there and find somebody else,
I want him to treat you like I know he should.
I want you to find somebody new for yourself,
If not for me.
All of the feelings that I know you never felt,
And all of the simple words you never said.
I want you to keep them like a secret to yourself,
They’re not for me.
I want you to wander silent past my outstretched arms,
I want you to hide yourself from all I see.
And though my heart will fight until its dying breath,
You’re not for me.
I want you to move to California for yourself,
I want you to find whatever your heart needs.
I want you to move to California for yourself,
But not for me.
P.S. Thank you American Dad
Thanks

Having grown up in Southern CA right in the neighborhoods where this video was filmed I can tell you that this is a montage of so many SoCal kids youth! I remember wearing the studded belts and going to punk shows and coming home at 4am only to wake up and go to breakfast with the fam at 9am. King Cobra and OE 8 balls were the drink of choice.
Where was this filmed
Gregory Martinez I know some scenes were filmed in Pasadena and South Pasadena.
down memory lane right there!
Gregory Martinez I believe part of this was filmed in Baldwin Park, I was actually in the band that in that scene with the girl at the show. Here is a video of them shooting that scene ua-cam.com/video/qcpfSC4NLs4/v-deo.htmlm37s
Nice if I were Togo can you show me
This music video makes me emotional. Gives me nostalgia to when I was a rebellious teen, years ago and heavy into Punk Rock in Orange County. I remember getting out of high school just to go get high and drunk with the homies and going to Punk Rock backyard shows and venues...not having a single care in the world, not worrying about the future...
"I care about you way too much to let you miss something this big."
"Fine but i'm telling you, I'm gonna get to that funeral, and still not feel anything about my dad dying."
"I promise you buddy, by the time we get there, you're gonna be an emotional wreck."
The band was from Longbeach, CA but as of 6 months ago all members ―excluding their drummer― relocated to Brooklyn.
To this day I Still Can't figure out why this band is not more popular?
Because the people that used to listen to it were not posting literally everything on the internet what we were doing/listening to. Reserved people that knew what was cool and weren’t bragging about it
Seven years after I still wonder that myself
Because of this lame film, & not a follow up song as good as this one. So sad.
@@Carstensensonwait this is a film, which one
@@adrichoncho Instead they humble-brag about how cool they are on youtube smh.
I only like the intro beat. It reminds me of being young and feeling free, like the world is literally there for you. Its actually depressing really, since that feeling of being young and free disappears with time as you realize this worlds no "oyster".
+sacr3 i also only listen the intro for intro
+sacr3 Same here, the intro is really the part that gets me.
to me, it's experiencing that freedom and that worldview start to slip away. It's like stumbling into adulthood. A shitty, passionate relationship during a turbulent time of life. Maybe I'm projecting a lot. I definitely am. But still. It's a riff that plays with happy and sad concepts.
I never really had that feeling. I started working as soon as I could, and between that and school it's pretty much all I did for a very long time. As I approach my thirtieth birthday, it's only in the last couple of years I've really started enjoying myself. Hard work is only satisfying for so long, I now have an unquenchable desire to start living even though it feels like half my life has already slipped through my fingers.

Me too❤
Loved this song immediately and still do, all these years later. It just hits so deep that I can actually "feel" it✌️
This is an incredible song. It touches on a subject most artists don't talk about: love that can never be. It's almost impossible to describe the heartache and 'what if' feeling it causes. But we have to acknowledge the hard fact that there are some times when even love isn't enough to keep two people together. Deep down you know that sometimes it's better for someone to find himself/herself rather than find you.
Life is a marathon. We hit some walls on our journey. We must run through them.
Another song that does this more bluntly is "I believe" by Chris Isaak. Beautiful rendition done in the Wolfenstein: New Order game by Melissa Hollick.
those drums tho...

krautrock-style
totally! I never realized that till now :)
yes it has the same rythim
I think the purpose is to invoke a sense of nostalgia which is actually really fitting for this song.
This song just cuts my soul . I am so alone . That riff is just amazing with the harmony .
never alone
you have the trees to hug when your alone
Are you alone yet?

Go to Walmart, works for me (sometimes)
I first heard this song back when it was new, about eight years or so ago. I thought I understood it pretty well back then. But then I got older and had relationships that didn’t quite work out and this song echoed in the background of all of them. It really does break my heart

7 years and counting, this is by far one of my favorite music videos of the 2010s.
100% agree
If you read this, you have a good taste of music
This comment made me smile when I was feeling down, thanks
Still makes me cry
Why
... and you think being Punk is a 2012 thing ? Because the REAL PUNKS are now ''old'' kids. ''Live free, die young'' LOL. Let me grow old, let me see the future, let me appreciate the Classics, let me confess that, after all, my grandparent's generation made great music, produce great films, wrote amazing literature, and, above all, let me die old, surrounded by my children and grandchildren, let me find out that my life was a life worth living.

Preach it Dylan!
Yes, I've had to make this decision for a couple partners. I loved them so much, but I knew we weren't meant to be together forever. I loved them enough that I just wanted them to be happy even though it meant us breaking up.
It is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all.

Wow this is giving me a mad nostalgic feeling for California after being on the east coast for a decade. We grew up partying like this in public spaces, pushing the boundaries and acting a fool.
That happens on East Coast too!
"I could tell you my name, but would my name tell you that I'm incapable of seeing the color orange? [pulls out orange] I just have to trust people who give me these. Or that I think mustaches are T-shirts for lips? Or that I wear ice skates to weddings?"

'As it Was' by Harry Styles reminded me of this song
Totally stole this melody
Damn I miss being 18. This came out right after I graduated from high school.
Love the song, but the lyrics sounds like their are from the universe of the friendzone.
the moment i heard this song it became my favorite. it is just so passionate and romantic, much more than any other song that actually talks directly about love or sex. the indirectness, in my opinion, is what makes it seem so real. he loves her, but he cant have her, and so he will let her go. "though my heart will fight until its dying breath...your not for me." that is when i fell in love with this band. that line is the most true, beautiful line ive ever heard.

delta spirit are the most talented band I have ever seen. saw them when they came to England last year an was blown away they were awesome!! Matt even took time out to come and mix with us all. gotta admit have soft spot for Matt. can't wait for them to return.

One of the saddest happy songs! Awesome tune!
This is the song you're jamming out to at the concert and look to your right and a dude is draped all over his girl. She's wearing a crop top and fish nets. Good luck homey.
The music takes you to a place where everything is possible!
I think anyone who went out into the world to really have some fun as a young adult, shedding that skin in the early morning before reality set back in for the day says everything about the song for me. I used to be out all night, come back right at 6 before anyone knew I was downtown Atlanta raving my ass off all night with some of the greatest people I'll never see twice. Gotta live while the livings good.

This music video is amazing. It does something to your soul.
Is Barry old enough to drive?
Fun as all this looks you would get pulled over almost immediately if you actually rode around in the back of an el camino drinking from a flask.
I'm not fun.
It depends were you live and a flask is pretty small
Percy Danvers I live in the US in a state with very lenient gun and alcohol laws. You can ride in the back of a truck, and the police wont care enough to pull you over for a flask in the back, as long as the driver isnt drinking.
Source: I know people who regularly drive around riding in the backs of trucks drinking beer.
P.S. My state is so lenient that you don't need a license to purchase or open carry a gun, and open carry is a right. You need a license to concealed carry, which you are also allowed to do. It's very lax. Alcohol laws are also very lax, you can purchase liquor in grocery stores until 2 AM and we have drive thru liquor stores.

Im in love with the blonde girl who is she?
I don't know about you or anyone reading this, but when I have a sh*tty day at work, I watch this video and zone out. It brings back memories when I was 17 yr old in high school ditching class with my friends, asking bums to buy us vodka from the nearest liquor store, and end the night at a backyard punk show in the valley of Los Angeles only to do it all over again the next day. Looking back now as an adult, they were fun times. And I miss being a teenager not giving a f*ck about anything or anyone. As I say this, I really wish I could live those days again but instead I have to stop reminiscing and get back to my corporate job. We grow up, but the inner rebellious, curious kid will always remain in us. That lifestyle is "not for me" anymore but I sure enjoyed them.
I came here because it plays on my work radio twice everyday.
I came here because I just happen to run across this song years ago.
