May God bless your house and your garden. I'm just sharing some ideas and things I've heard or learned from: I'm not sure where you're sourcing your free bread from, but please be careful using old or expired bread when raising animals. I heard a story from a Dr. Wallach (who may or may not be 100% reputable) that while being a nutritional advisor for a zoo, he found that expired bread was causing their Bear to have some liver issues. Karl hammer has a system/ set up similar to yours the feeds his chickens primarily on the compost/bugs. I've also seen some Gardens where they will leave out planks of wood or small stumps etc and flip them over each day. Chickens will follow them around the yard and wait for them to flip open each 'buffet' No-till, vermiculture, Dr Elaine's food web (other topics that I found interesting) (also Ive seen some Black Solider Fly 'Farm' setups with raised totes, if you wanted more direct control over the grubs. Since most will angle into a collection bucket) Your garden looks lovely and Its great to include your Son! He will remember these skills all his life!
@@deepwaters3335 yes, if that's all they eat then it's not good. But bread has a lot of energy in it. So I mostly offer them bread, greens, and grubs and let them choose how much of each they want to eat.
They're much happier and healthier, if they have some way to dunk their heads in water, even just a small pot, or dish of water. It helps them get the food down, and also with grooming. My ducks do have a pond, but at the very least, I would get them a cat litter box to fill with water. They get so excited when their water is changed out.
May God bless your house and your garden.

those ducks are loving it
@@AAHomeGardening yes, they seem be quite content
How do duck eggs taste?
@@pawelkapica5363 they taste pretty much like chicken eggs just with more yolk
I heard it was bad to feed bread to ducks.

@@PrimitiveTim smiles, thank you. I have chickens and was afraid to feed them bread.
@@PrimitiveTim Have you ever feed them soaked beans?
Very cool! Do you have a kiddie pool for them?
@@Dominic.Minischetti nope. They just have a nipple waterer. Muscovies like water but I'm finding it's not absolutely necessary.

@@heatherj3030 They also clean out their sinuses when they dunk. I used a kiddy pool when I had ducks. Now I have chickens so no pool. 😂
@@Dominic.Minischetti Yes, that's true. Our duck pond is a kiddie pool as well, but I have used a cement mixing tub also.
Bread bad for ducks.
@@francineshea4723 not necessarily but if that's all they ate then it's an incomplete diet.
