The AI always places their cards in this order: Spell -> Monster -> Trap so if a card gets placed in the backrow after a monster it's always a trap.

if all your cards are facedown, ai will always attack strongest to weakest to the leftmost facedown monster. they use the weakest best choice for themselves if a faceup monster is available to be beat over in strength or element which means that petit moth should always be placed on the far right to decrease the chances of it being attacked over another facedown further to its left.
The AI has a lot of different quirks like this where you can predict exactly what they'll do in certain situations. As an example, if they don't know what monsters you have they will always attack with the monster with highest ATK first and I believe rightmost if it's a tie. A lot of playing this game is learning and exploiting these patterns
@@taigatarnbrant practically what my comment was lol. still, it definitely is pretty simple to figure out what they will do for sure. still wish that reading the ai behavior had a bigger impact on winning though. often times they are just too strong.
So just something to note to speed things up, you don't actually have to confirm the defend selection, just moving to it so the position changes is enough (so you don't have the cursor scan the field each time and potentially do additional procs of permanent effects). Also for things like skelengel, you can "discard" them even from the field, so you can freely activate effect and get rid of them to avoid damage.
1:34:00 was halarious. You had skellangel in your hand and 3 cards in your deck left. Joey would have lost at the start of his turn regardless meaning it was safe for you to use skellangel's effect. So you had a 2/3 chance of drawing the cure master before you would have won by deck out next turn anyways. The computer said "nope, you aren't even going to get the oppertunity to possibly draw your heal card" and decked himself out with pot during it's turn. Sorry, don't mean to laugh at the cringe, but that was great. It felt like the pot of greed play to deck itself out was fully intentional out of spite, even though i know that the ai is compelled to play it whenever pot is in it's hand.

I think R means reverse, in the Japanese dub they would say "Reverse card over" when flipping a trap/spell.
I was thinking this as well; R for Reverse side up, as opposed to Face up.

I am at 3007 duelist capacity now with over level 500. The only cards I can’t run are level 999 cards. A play through without the God cards remains insanely difficult.
youre making it sound even more fun to try. honestly, i kinda wanna make it a run without any crutch cards like petit moth, any cloning monster, any summoning monster, dark flare knight, self reviving monsters, and gods. the pain would be agonizing.
@@omegazeroINFI I just banned the God cards for my run. I debated on dark flare who I didn’t have until the final 2 bosses bc it just never came into the shop so I had to buy it. But what I learned is that no cards are “crutch” cards without the gods. This game was designed with the intent that players will summon gods. So even the monster that duplicate or have cool special abilities or whatever, are just useless without gods. For example, I have 3 Doron atm but it doesn’t do much for me. Just a decent card that sometimes get sacked for my 1 kiryushin. Even dark flare is a liability when ter takes dark magician and now it’s a 4200 beat stick for the other player. Same with petit moth. Perfect great moth is fine but takes 5 turns to get. Reshef and all of hall of eternity literally just summon 2600 level 4 monsters that beat great moth itself. Closest I got was reshef down to about 5000 lp but eventually lost to the 2600 beaters. I’m very close to having what I need but it’s probably going to be another 1000 or so duels against Tristan LMAO and then hall of eternity I’m guessing won’t be possible without level 999

This is such a cool playthrough. The deck has progressed and its cool to see how difficult the game is. It has also made me decide to do a challenge where I have to win via exodia for all main story missions
Can't believe you actually got all three God cards on the field at once
Essentially, the best strategy for the Hall of Eternity would be draw power, since Phoenix Mode exists. Maybe 3 Skelengels would help since bodies/elemental seem to not matter much at this stage.
Vampire Lord & D.D. Dragon as well for recursion/stall, if he doesn't see Phoenix earlier.
Hall is incredibly tough, I can't imagine beating everyone in there without saving for the achievement
@@eddysegafan6655 i feel like both of them are huge liabilities. dark flare knight even is a liability unless used as a free off-field body for summoning the god cards due to everyone having freaking change of heart lol.

Phoenix mode in this game is like going first and full comboing with Maxx C in hand.
:P you should wait sometimes to use fiends hand until after they tributed. I remember how brutal this game was as a kid. I finally beat it but it was a painful experience. At least your level is slllllllowwwly increasing. I have been enjoying your playthrough.(spy could also help you see if they have a level 2 tribute in their hand)
edit: Joey decking himself out after you are ALMOST to your cure master at the bottom of your deck had me on the floor. Please for the love of god save kuriboh for multiply tho :P
This game remains proof that even at the beginning, Yugioh was a game of negates.
Stuck at Pegasus and reshef at the moment but I did use the password system to get phoenix mode, maybe I should add obelisk to the deck. Vampire lord is fiend type different dimension dragon is dream type both come back if in the graveyard every turn

3 Swords of Revealing Light plus 60000 LP is a very fun combo. Lingering floodgates ruining Yu-Gi-Oh even in 2004
I dunno if anyone clarified for you what CS was on the truck and deck screens, it stands for cost so the higher cost cards, the ones you want to put in usually, are much closer to the top than other sorting methods
While pricey, I have found Prevent Rat to be pretty useful (especially against Noah). It is too weak to stand up to a god card and you can easily wall it with Hane-Hane or Petit Dragon (or any non-fire monster with 500+ DEF).
Also, Stop Defense might be nice for when they try to turtle against the god cards (and to bait out Feather Duster). Haven't done that myself, though.
The funny thing about the cheats is that you can still use both Ra phoenix and Ra battle, so you can have 2 Ra battle that way

Can you not use obelisk's ability when swords is up? Or is it only useable when the opponent has creatures on the battlefield in this game?
You can, but each card's effect is only usable once per time it is summoned in this game and you can't use them after they attack.

gonna say that the Limited and forbidden cards for this game is a terrible thing. i get they were like "we must copy from the championship games." yet then you tell me the type system and that lots of the effect monster cards arent effects and ritural monsters are just not there and then the player level and the card deck limit. like they already knew the best cards be to pricy yet making them 1 is kinda a bit much considering the only way it be unfair if its against pvp. yet the npcs get to have 3 of any card. and the best deck and more life points then you no matter what. the final boss is bullshit no matter what
E mark is "empty as the monster cant not do no more attacks or commands"
R mark is.... "face down poisition"
