- In 2014, I finally did something I never thought I'd do - I moved out of my beloved Goa. To a place where I rediscovered the essence of the Goa that I grew up in. No, not the grandiose stuff; just simple things like cleanliness, honesty, discipline, respect for nature, and such. To me, the basic necessities of life.
It took me 3 years to realise that my love for Goa wasn't extinct; it's just that the Goa I once loved was. And that was alright, cause many of the things and people I loved didn’t exist anymore either; like my parents. But even if I couldn’t be with them, I could still love them across Time.
We ourselves are responsible for the mess of Goa. Our ancestors maintained this golden land with utmost care and discipline. Now everyone in his wants to make a quick buck by nefarious means . Greed has destroyed Goa.

Our parents say that those were the golden days, this song makes me long for the beautiful Goa you enjoyed as a child. Remo Fernandes, you are more than an inspiration to me, with your lightening speed guitar playing, thought provoking lyrics and your radiant personality. I have known Remo for a log time - when he was young and used to visit Calangute beach - he knew me at POP and i knew him as REMO. We Goans are unique - and can adapt anywhere in the world - and where we go we take our uniqueness - Amachi Bas. The Goa both Remo and I used to know - consisted of love, our unique cuisine, our talent to sing, write, speak, and mostly lead - and we have done well all over the world. Our many festivals bring us together - Hindu, Muslim, Catholics - no more. So a time comes when some document - be it a passport - or man made laws - bring impediments. Some of us creative and those that take a stand and represent - are bossed around - we have our pride and can stand tall and represent, Some others practice slight of hand - and there is more. Goa the land mentioned in the Vedas and visited by ancient Buddhist, then came the Muslims, while the Hindus now had to deal with Christianity in the 15th century. Our language, our thinking, our love for Goa superceeds - everything. I remember staying at the only hotel on Calangute Beach - and from time to time - watching REMO - walking, down to the beach - his long hair and more,. I remember looking at him and thinking of the many talents he possessed. Today he is well known for his music - he is a thinker, a lover, and most of all a human being - he is down to Earth. Remo's heart is in the right place - he sees the best in simplicity. My good friend REMO. If REMO reads these few lines - he will read more - Carnaval, jam sessions, the art institute, Mir a Mar, Fort Aguda, Siolim, Mapuca, Panjim, Margao, Aldona, Old Goa, Anjuna - we can go deep into the many places - we Goans carry our unique identity - the DNA that is Goa - we represent the Universe..

I am not from Goa but visited several times to Goa between 1996 and 2005. I really cherish the unique way of Goans live and the openness to accept people from other places as Guest. Unfortunately some people from North Indian States are destroying the reputation of Goa.

Remo Bab Goa is still loving you and proud of you. It gave us one of the finest English, Hindi and konkani singer as well. I am closely following you since the time you had released your English Album since 1980 in Panjim. Your music has given us Goan an uniqueness that have put Goa at the level of international pop music. This song is lovely and brought tears in my eyes. I love this song and adore the lyrics. I was in Goa recently for a week long holiday and as I travelled across the land observing the culture and the people, I found myself thinking about what Goa would have been like before the days of industrial tourism, choking commercialism and mass immigration. From looking at pictures and videos of old time Goa on the internet, I have come to the conclusion that the Goa of yesteryear is very similar in many ways to the Malabar of my childhood. I come from a Malabar Christian Family and as I listen to this beautiful song, every word sung by Remo's dulcet voice took me back to the carefree, sunny days of my childhood in the Malabar. My grandmother's smile greeting me every morning, the birds singing in the trees around my house, holidays spent playing, climbing trees with my friends, enjoying the sun and the rain without a single word of complaint. Jim Reeves crooning on the old tape recorder, our family singing old English hymns during the evening prayer time.... It all comes back to me and fills my heart with aching nostalgia for an age gone by never to return.... These memories always live with me and have carried me through many dark and grim days. I thank God for his grace in allowing me to experience a life in a time, culture and place which today has changed irreversibly and is lost forever.

The Goa which became my home from 1954 to 1958 was and is still very fresh in my mind.. I married at the foot of St Francis Catedral in Old Goa. I ejoyed and loved this beautful coutry, the simple people and the religious upbringing.till I left to make a new life and livng with my husband Armando Mascarehas from Margão here in São Paulo Brasil. I have returned many times to Goa but miss the sympathy, warmth and familiar faces.
