  • A Closer Look: First Class Dining on the Titanic | Cultured Elegance
    Before sinking, the RMS Titanic was a standard of luxury the world had not before seen on a ship, especially for the first class experience. This video details how a first class passenger would have spent a day aboard the luxury liner.

    It sounds very over the top to us today, but we need to remember that this was how the wealthy dined (socially) in 1912. The closest thing that I can personally compare to the food on Titanic was dining on the SS France when I sailed on her to England back in 1974. That was amazing, but the menus in this video are even more extraordinary. Excellent video.

      Those 10 or 13 courses were mostly fist sizes portions like today's modern restaurants. So one could be able to eat them all since they also included light foods like peach melba.

      @LJB103 10 місяців тому +2

      @@druviseglite True, and you notice that they are not accompanied by heaps of mashed potatoes, stuffing, or a pile of vegetables. However, there WAS a lot of alcohol involved in the meal with each course: whites; reds; sweet dessert and/or champagne; plus for the men either port (with cigars) or brandy (cigarettes) after the meal. You were not limited to one glass of each either. You may not have been stuffed, but you could sure get sloshed!

      Honestly, this isn't over the top at all. If you look at today's wealthy elite, it's pretty much the same. Over the top, extravagant to the nth degree, all for pretty much no reason at all except to flaunt ones wealth. Doesn't sound over the top when this still exists in this Gilded Age 2.0 we're living in.

    This was such an enjoyable video! Having worked in hospitality for most of my adult life, it was so interesting to see all the care and elegance that was put into planning, preparing and serving these meals for the passengers on the Titanic, as well as all the details and information about the rooms, architecture and settings. I like all your videos, but especially love the ones about Titanic, and Gone With The Wind. I am so glad to have discovered your channel. Great videos!

    I'ts really a faszinating world, very modern in a way, but in another way so opulent, that I can' t believe it. It' s like beeing in a dream, a dream, that changed to hard reality. I can' t say, which meal I prefere, everything looks wonderfull, but I' am confused about the pomp and that doesn' t feel reaally good, although i admire the technical standard of the rooms and bathrooms and their beauty.

    The food for those traveling first class on the Titanic sounds delicious. I’d love to try them if any of the recipes survived and could be made with organic non-GMO items. :) I would have loved my own Private First Class B suite! They look even better than the motels we stayed at after we lost our home.

    How did passengers on the Olympic and Titanic order food?
    So in 1912 how did (upper-class) passengers order food for dinner and breakfast on the titanic did they preorder them or did a waiter come round with a pen and pad, and did this change with the olympic during the 1920’s after the war?

    *Titanic sails to The US*
    Titanic: " I can't wait to go to America and experience it with my passengers."
    *A random iceberg floats near Titanic making the boat nervous*
    Titanic: " Hey, I come in peace and I have thousands of passengers aboard and we're heading to America. I'm just going to sail around you, if it's okay. You're not going to harm us all are you?"
    Iceberg: " Sure, it's safe. I'll make room for you to sail through."
    *Iceberg cuts Titanic's side while it sails through, causing to sink along with the passengers inside it*
    Titanic(in pain) : " WHY!? I WASN'T A THREAT!"
    Iceberg: " I know, it was fate. You all weren't meant to reach your destination. Silence, now."
