      ummm do you guys know how that word is actually pronounced? cuz it's not how Very Tall Bart pronounced it

    • @VeritableSmorgasbord
      @VeritableSmorgasbord 6 місяців тому

      My history with nadir: I read the DFW cruise ship article like a decade ago. (Bonus fact: there’s a video of JP talking about that article on YT). Saw the word. Said it nay-deer. Haven’t needed to use it myself ever. But just a few days ago I was like...do I know if I’m saying that right? What if I need to one day? Looked it up and apparently it’s nay-dur. Now I don’t know what to think. Cus SURELY I looked up the pronunciation a decade ago to come to my original conclusion...

    • @WobblyBits_X

      @@VeritableSmorgasbord In UK English (and in Arabic, the root language) it is indeed pronounced with the "ear" sound.

    These behind the scenes are great. One thing I always wonder about is how others keep track and organize so many splices and still be able to optimally recontextualize them. Maybe I missed it. Are some clips highlighted and tagged for greatness with an idea in mind? Or is the end result just the results of pressing random keys on a piano until a beautiful melody is made?

    • @verytallbart
      @verytallbart  Рік тому +49

      I organize my clips by which ones I think are funniest or most useful. The gold gets moved left and weaker clips stay on the right. It’s a simple system but it works for me.

    Hey idk if you’ll see this, but I just wanted to say that your YTPs are better than any I’ve seen on here. Your attention to detail is exquisite; I like how you mentioned how you think of the verbal cadences as musical-that counts for a lot. (Subsequently, I feel like this is what lots of amateur poets get wrong-focusing on content or rhyme schemes but not rhythm.) Most other people’s YTPs are so jerky (not to mention much less clever), and I usually just feel like I’m getting whiplash and end up clicking away. Thanks for treating this stuff with respect and dedication behind the scenes, even though it’s easy to brush this stuff off as “just goofy” or whatever.

    i have no interest in actually making YTPs ever, but i'm probably *more* interested in the behind the scenes videos of YTPs now. i feel like it's really instructive about how improvisational and flexible you need to be to do this kind of thing well. if you try to railroad a joke that you have in mind from the very start, you might be able to force the sounds you need out of the original clip, but you'll barrel through a serendipitous revelation about something else that might be even funnier (and obviously it won't be as good if it's forced).
