I really think I made a great decision buying this Bravia 3 TV. I will not play games and will only stream content to this TV, so I don't need a faster refresh rate. 60hz is all it will ever see. I am using it in a brightly lit room, so the wider contrast of the more expensive TVs is not needed. If I was watching in a dark room, the blacks might disappoint, but that isn't a problem. The TV is amazingly sharp, and the colors are great and realistic. I noticed some of the other TVs in the display room had colors that looked cartoonish. By not bowing to advertisement and review snobbish attitudes, I wound up saving thousands and got a larger TV.
We don't have that model here in the US, so I've not seen it. I did some looking into the specs and it will be pretty similar all around, in terms of picture quality and brightness.
I recently picked up the 50X77L and really enjoy the picture. I have a small apartment and had a Bravia LCD for many years, so the upgrade as due. I am wondering though if the Yamaha receiver I have been using since my first Bravia, if it's still compatible with todays tv tech? Not that there's anything wrong with the receiver, it is Yamaha afterall and it's a 5.1 system. But thinking a new Sony receiver that has more capabilities for today might be something to consider?
Hey there! Thanks for the question. I don’t know the model receiver you have so it’s hard to get into specifics. If it has the capability to connect to your X77L via HDMI or Digital Optical, in theory it will work. However, if you wanted to upgrade to a receiver that supports more current formats and features like E-ARC, WIFI Capabilities, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, etc., I would recommend taking a look at our new STR-AN1000. I’ve been keeping my eye on this bad boy myself! It supports a bunch of neat features and the latest formats in home audio. Derek goes through the features in more depth in this video: ua-cam.com/video/dxhYgCJ6MMc/v-deo.html&pp=ygUPc29ueSBzdHIgYW4xMDAw I recommended giving it a look at 😎
@@KarinaFromSony Thanks for responding back. My Yamaha receiver is model HTR-5920 and it worked perfectly with my previous Bravia. But because it's an older model, it doesn't have any hdmi inputs, just the optical one. Is the millisecond delay for audio visual a thing? Only happens for bluray dvds though.
@@KarinaFromSony I tried an experiment recently. I muted my Yamaha receiver and turned up the volume on my Bravia. And the audio video sync was near perfect. But when I go back to the audio from the receiver it's milliseconds off. When watching a bluray dvd.
@GanesanSridhar Nope, I've seen all the sizes in-store. The 43 and 50 inch are IPS panels, where the 55 and up are VA. Not only did I do the finger test on the panel, the salesperson confirmed it. You can see the grey hues when going to the side of the IPS panels, unlike the other ones.

Do you even know what Aspect Ratio means?? The TV uses 16:9 Aspect Ratio. Most cinema movies use 21:9 Aspect Ratio. The end result is that the movies won't fill your entire screen. You'll get black bars on the top and bottom. That's how it's supposed to be.

We would've loved to see it use the newer Sony XR processor, rather than the dated X1 processor. Also HDMI 2.1 ports are a must to enjoy 4k 120hz.
You can choose X90L from last year edition or bravia 7

Okay 👍
Does this TV have any HDMI 2.1 ports which supports higher bandwidth like 4k 120hz, or is it just the slower HDMI 2.0 ports?
apparently just 2.0
