Sounds great. Based upon this review I'd love to buy/try this one. It seems like Amrut should be able to continue as they are, without the age statement and they should continue to do well. Thanks for all of these great reviews!
I think it is a bit expensive for a NAS. However, It's a very fine whisky bottled at high strength and I for one will be happy to get another bottle. Any fans of sherried whisky should not hesitate. This is easily as good as the sherried expressions by some illustrious and established competitors. Well done Amrut.
Hi Keith, That's a difficult one. Its high strength makes it a bit like a single barrel sherry bomb by an independent bottler and although it's a NAS it does have intense maturation and quality casks. I'd agree with Ben that it is very 'fruity'. I'll sit on the fence and say it has its own style. Don't be put off getting a bottle because its really good stuff. There's another fine review on Malt Reviews.
I was kind of thinking of Aberlour in my original response. I just did a side by side of the A'bunadh and the Intermediate because of the ABV. The A'bunadh have good casks but you can't escape the youth and certain lack of complexity. The Intermediate is richer and more complex (in my opinion). It tastes older (and it is when you consider the Indian rate of maturation) and there's more going on. It really has to be considered with malts around its price level which are 15 - 18 year old. Nevertheless, it has its own style.
I just received and cracked my bottle and have to say I'm disappointed . It has some nice sherry flavors but the alcohol burn is very off putting! Time may help this one open up and tone down the hotness but at this moment I'll give it a 3.25 considering the exorbitant price for such a young spirit, and very disappointing for the $110 plus $20 in taxes and shipping on top of that.I don't get the very high reviews unless those reviewers didn't rate it until it opened up to a better profile. Glendronach 18 blows this away by 10 times or more for the same price point!!

Looks good. I wish I had a glass right now.

Welsh, what scotch whisky would you compare the Intermediate sherry to.

Welsh, I seen all of Malt Reviews videos. It sounds like it might be similar to an Aberlour a'bunadh???

Welsh, thanks for the input, something to consider..I'm considering picking up the Bruichladdich Laddie 22 unpeated bottle.
My cork was bad too! Really interesting whisky, I thought.
Most Amruts are ~4 YO. You have visited the distillery. This is a 100* proof bottle.
That is $100.00 a bottle

I came across this whiskey in my area for around the same price tag. Did it get any better with time?
@@poopoo5273 This may sound a little crazy but a big YES!.....I did a re review and raised it to 4.25 Absolutely Delicious now!
Hi there. Do you recommend this now ? This is available in a store near my place in the US, I am not convinced if it is worth the hefty price?
