  • This week in the workshop i made a Basket illusion bow (but not the way you think) i actually used my Dremel 4000 to carve out the pattern of the basket on the outside to give it the effect then scorch it to give it some depth and then finish it with lemon oil, the inside was finished with a combination of Yorkshire Grit abrasive paste and Microcrystalline wax from Hampsire sheen, as always this wood art piece was turned on the record power coronet herald wood lathe and turned with my easy wood tools carbide turning tools

    One question, what is the finish you apply before the sanding sealer?
    Cheers

      @jpwoodwork  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks, that is Methylated spirits or denatured alcohol, its used to clean the wood of sawdust, hope that helps :)

    I love love love it. Spectacular piece. You did an AWESOME job Jamie. I have a couple of, maybe dumb questions to you and other turners, but going to ask anyway. When you are turning out the inside of a bowl, why do you make stepped rings then go back to the outside one, turn to the next one, then the next and so on? AND then there is than center part that is left like a big peg that you finally turn down till it is gone, why do you leave it there for so long? 💕😊❤🤗💕🇺🇸

    • @jpwoodwork
      @jpwoodwork  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you, so the reason you leave the centre of the bowl in for as long as possible is for support and to cut down on vibration

    Why not take it a step further and do to the inside wall as you did to the outside since it is so squarish looking?
