I have always believed that if you get divorced/break up from a relationship that you should rid yourself of the items that you shared as a couple. Also, any possessions that make you feel sad or bring up negative memories. Everything is talking to us on some level.
good advice!
💯
👍
I like all my stuff! My ex could care less about home goods. I happily kept everything but the mattress 🤣😂No bad memories, lots of happy memories of our young family.
@@SK-ki1te Do what works for you. I have to agree that getting rid of the mattress is probably the most important thing to get rid of.
As a Professional Organizer I say WAY TO GO🎉. Decluttering should not be a massive ordeal but instead consistent curation of what fits into your right now life. I’m impressed!!
Thanks!
🙂

I'm proud of myself. This week I have almost 10 bags of random stuff that I'm decluttering and taking to my local thrift store that uses the money for the actual community, not Goodwill or any shady other places like that
Good for you!
🤗
🤗
😊
In my neighborhood there is a thrift store that has an attached food pantry. Proceeds from the thrift store fund the food pantry. Interesting that their items for sale are much nicer than Goodwill and the pricing is the same.
Since I retired, living alone, I LOVE using the kitchen things that when I was working, I didn’t have time or energy for! Every time I use something I’ve kept, it makes me sooo happy! I may not use these things but once in a blue moon, but when I get around to it or get to use it for company, I love it! Living alone, my kitchen things are like old friends with happy, happy memories!
❤
Just spent my week at moms (4 1/2hrs away) to help her shop and to "clean up". She still has full dish sets from both sets of my grand and great grandparents, four sets of dull kitchen knives, cabinets crammed with mixing bowls and cook pans. She won't part with it ...yet. It feels so good when I return home to our "decluttered" kitchen with just one dish set in the cabinet! Thank You for the incentive.
🙂
🙂
❤
Over the last few years, I've gone over my kitchen and home several times. Time tells us a lot about what we are actually using. I think also on this journey, you get more practical about what's actually necessary. Good job Tim 😊

Bravo. It’s a never ending story! Decluttering that it...
I find it's like peeling the layers of an onion. With time, I get more ruthless 😊

Oh my word , your foil etc. In a small garbage can !! I have been keeping house for over 50 years and battled storing such things off and on ...Brilliant absolutely brilliant . So enjoy your channel .
☺
👍
First off, Mom's give the best presents. Second: Gotta show this video to my wife, who refuses to let me clean out.
😊

😊
I'm going straight into my kitchen; I know I can find at least two things to get rid of. Thanks.

😊
Great job! I live minimally but I find things every day to declutter. 😊
I have my car loaded down to take donations to Christ Chapel in Ringgold. They help families in need with food, clothes or house hold items. I keep my boxes as a goal to fill them up with stuff I have not used. I dont see much difference yet, but it is getting there.
keep going...you will get there
😊
❤
I WISH I had a place in town that I knew directly gave to needy families! Only have couple of non-profits that resell😖
I did a major house Declutter a year ago and have started to revisit things in both the kitchen and the bedroom. It is amazing how much stuff that I thought I was using but haven’t used it in the last year so off it goes to the local hospital thrift shop.
Yes, once you are aware of what you have with some decluttering, time will tell you if you're actually using it. 😊
🙂
❤
Great advice. It's always good to revisit and evaluate.
😊
I purchased the same plates from WM years ago and I still like them so much! Yes, decluttering is ongoing. It's a maintenance thing.
🙂

Thanks, I really needed this. My husband and I are moving to Portugal and I struggle with decluttering. In my brain, it's still good and I might use it, and I already paid for it. But the reality is, we can't take it all with us. The packing process has taken months too long because i just cant seem to let stuff go. So, thank you, this may help.
Love all the declutter videos.
🙂
👍
Like th idea of keeping foil, parchment paper, etc. in a trash can. I saw on a cleaning channel that using the self-cleaning feature of your stove is not recommended b/c of carbon monoxide and the chance of damaging your oven or even causing a fire b/c of the high heat it generates. I have never used mine... just passing the info along.
Our oven repair guy told us the same thing. I never used it because I knew it was toxic, but he said it lessens the life of the oven, as well as being unsafe from fumes and fire.
Thank you ❤
😊
Thank you for this video, it's very inspiring and the how you declutter over time making sure you don't really use stuff is great. I decluttered my kitchen last month and it's easier to find stuff and better organized. It feels great!
Those cute lil baking dishes, your can repurpose as a sugar container for coffee or tea. Use as a salt container. Use in the bathroom for cotton balls, etc. In an office for paper clips or rubber bands. Even to hold random nails and screws you may use around the house. ❤
😊
Learned a long time ago, never to put food in the cabinet above my stove. The food gets warm and goes bad, especially oils. Also never keep my spices near the stove but always couple feet away or they lose their potency if get warm. Loved the video. Thanks for sharing.
❤
Agree that the hamburger chopper is the bomb digity!
Thanks for another inspiring declutter video.
I had to pop back in to say that I looked in 3 cabinets while waiting for my lunch to cook. Put several items in the donate box and found expired items that no one liked but our farm critters ate them up! 😂
Thanks for the nudge!
☺
😊
I love kitchen gadgets! But, I really do have to go through my kitchen cabinets again to let go of some items I never use! Thanks for the advice and good suggestions! 🎉😊
🙂
😊
I realized a few years ago that I had been storing and saving up massive amounts of things that I never got around to using, or the family had stopped using. I am not able to do as much on my own anymore, but I have been chipping away with getting rid of it and have almost everything gone❤ It's always inspirational to see these kind of videos❤
🙂
😊
It would be good to check the expiration dates of the items that you rarely use for cooking. Then you can replace them before they are needed.
😊

Great job! I’m in the middle of doing that again too. It’s hard, since I’ve done it a few times….but does pay off when things just sit in the cupboards unused. The one piece of advice I have is…..store your flour that gets used once a year in the freezer. Flour goes rancid.
Thanks for your great videos. Always enjoy them! 🥰
Great video and good reminder to go back through your items as we are never really finished with decluttering. It helps me to think that someone else could use things I’m not using. I struggle with sentimental items even in the kitchen!
🙂
❤
Alright, Mr. Inspiration....Look how many people have written in to tell you they were inspired to either start or begin again the process again. That self-deprecating chuckle goes a long way. 😊
😎
❤
😅😊
I recently renovated my kitchen ( came out great) and pre-decluttered. So far, I am using everything that I retained .
🙂
❤
Lots of "food for thought," Tim. Thank you! On the spices, mine are on "Lazy Susans" which helps me see what is available. Your video has prompted many ideas!
😊
Great video, and good job getting all of those unused items out. It came at a good time for me, since I’ve been committing an hour a day this week to a different room or closet. So far, 3+ trash bags donation/trash so far. I had to laugh about your handwashing/donation comments - we all do the best we can in this life. 😂
😊
Professional Organizer Peter Walsh had people turn their hangers backwards in his show Clean Sweep ...It's a great idea! Many people say not to use the self cleaning on ovens and it ruins the oven. I don't have a self cleaner but heard this. The trash can for your foils and paper is a great idea and neatly stored!
😊
I like watching your decluttering videos! We (my husband and I) over the past few months have been on a decluttering mission of sorts. Even though I have been slowly decluttering for about 4 years I decided it was time to revisit some areas and reevaluate things that I had kept. Long story short, we have made about 5 trips to the thrift stores, given things to friends and family and had about 4 trash bags full of trash. We still have more things to declutter, but it takes time, and we will stick with the "mission".
😊
Totally with you on that ground beef masher thingy! 😄
😊
I am currently living in a teeny tiny house. I have been in here five years now, even though it was supposed to be kind of temporary. It gave me an opportunity to see what I really use day to day week to week. Especially in my kitchen, I used to have hoards of utensils and appliances.
I realized I can get by and be perfectly happy with a paring knife, a chefs knife, and a butcher knife. As long as they are sharp. I also tend to use the same pot over and over. Since I am a single person, I do not have need for many pots and pans. I do, however, have a huge collection of canning and food preservation things that I do use during harvest time. I keep those handy in the loft. And I make sure to tell well meaning people that I do not need or have room for any kitchen appliances. I received an instant pot two years ago and have not used it for at least a year and a half now. So I feel like that is something that I could donate.
Great job keep up the good work.
That good-natured chuckle really aided in getting today's message across. Keeping an eye out as you go about your day to day routines certainly helps in the process. You can file away in your mental notes what is going to go and what is going to stay. The process moves smoothly when you've done the mental prep work. Then it just becomes a matter of picking out and retrieving those things you've already said goodbye to........ 😊
🙂
😊
I do the minimalism game every September but am getting so overwhelmed with the excess in my house i am doing it for the month of August. Day one you get rid of one thing day two two things and so forth and so on. Doing it with someone is fun to see how far you get, after day 15 it gets really difficult!
I decided to go for 100 items per month~ all year. I don't count papers or things I use up, but things I declutter even if it's small like a pen, or calendar, or comb. So far I'm already up to almost 1200 and it's only July. Definitely going to keep going even after I hit the mark. I swear if my husband organized his office/garage/hobby room it would be 12,000 :)
❤
😊
Hello. We take the food to those food blessing boxes, we have 2 at church.

😊
I loved this video because in January of 2024, I built a pantry in the only closet I have on the 1st floor which clearly back in the 1930's was a coat closet. I revamped my entire kitchen. I 7 months later need to do the same. I cleaned out basement and Shed, but upstairs is my battle. I try and get overwhelmed. I am glad I found your channel and will on days off from my yard and garden and working full time, take any tips. Thank you. I am 61 and my people don't want any of my crap. LOL
😊
Thanks Tim for another great video! I run a fairly orderly house, but I need to declutter more … so, thanks for inspiring me to get back at it. There were two hoarders in my family, not to the level you see on the TV shows, but bad enough. I’m glad I didn’t inherit that “gene.“ I have started decluttering my master closet today….(it’s hard when you’re in the process of losing weight and you don’t want to give away the clothes, but if they ‘don’t spark joy’…).
😊
Good job!❤
😊😊
😊
In my mid 50’s, been declutterring for the past 3yrs, it’s been taking me this long, we’ve been in this house for 23yrs. & accumulated lots of stuff. Thank You for sharing & I do enjoy watching your channel.🦋✨💥
Same here. Mid 50's. I'm on my 2nd year and 2nd go round. Although some places I've hit 3-5 times, ( always finding more ) It took me so long to do my closet I had to chunk it up into several different sections. So many clothes that don't fit due to menopause and other reasons. I decided to let my small sizes go and only keep what fits or is almost fitting and that I love enough to hold on to. It's definitely a journey.
🙂
👍
I have been revisiting some hot spots in my home and now have a half a table full of things to donate. The foil and parchment paper in the trash can is actually a good idea!
😊
Good job! I’m decluttering and you have helped to inspire me!

😊
Great job! It took such little time. I needed this reminder.😊
😊
I like your decluttering videos. Very motivating. I'm going to implement your system. Also, I like when you cook!
😊
😊
I agree with you that decluttering is an ongoing process. Kinda like peeling an onion. I always have at least one box or bag going that I put stuff in as I come across them. I find a lot of freedom in passing things on to new homes. You are an inspiration. 😅😅
😊
For the top shelves use small clear turn tables. You just turn it and you can easily see and reach everything. I ordered mine from Walmart's Home Edit collection. They had some small 10" ones that fit perfectly in my cupboard
😊❤
You're really good at decluttering. No BS, straight to the point lol.
❤
Good job. I do the same thing constantly. I have two, heavy, white bowls I used to use, and I have been watching them for at least six months as I don't use them. They are such good quality, and great looking, and I think they will be going to the SPCA.
😊
I've probably got 10 times your amount to clear out and donate. One day...😊 I bought some silicone bakeware too thinking I would like it. The Christmas village barely resembled buildings! Never again!
😊
I am very proud of myself. I emptied my storage unit. I didn’t want the bill anymore since I retired in June 2024! Feels so freeing!!
Way to go!!
Major congrats

Wow those pigs-in-blankets are massive!
Will try your recipe this week 😊

😊
I just decluttered my knitting supplies last night, and I got rid of so many items that I never used or even opened. Felt so good to have a nice pile of usable items to donate.
Today, you have inspired me to go back through my kitchen and get rid of the items I haven't used in years and/or never touch. I decluttered my kitchen a couple times already, but there are certain pots and pans that I have been hanging on to as backups for just-in-case scenarios. Honestly, as a single person who rarely cooks complex meals, I barely use my go-to pots and pans, so why do I have backups to begin with? They are "going away" as you put it. Thank you for the motivation!
❤
I watch you tube videos while I work at my job from home. They motivate me ! However Its difficult because I want to go through my kirchen right now but have to wait! Ugh lol
😅😊
😊
Thank you.

I agree that Element chocolate caramel flavor that is supposed to go in coffee is truly horrible. However, it's REALLY great in about 12 oz of plain water. Try it before you get rid of it!
Thank you, its the push i need to go through my books again. As like you, there are some im not getting rid of. I love Edgar Allan Poe. i have 2. I read in the fall time. And its almost here, man this year flew! But i bought some odd cook books that i didnt crack the cover on. 1 is on truck stop food. 😆and a few other oddites . And my last, is photos. ugh, grocery bag full packed! I cant do it with my sis. She keeps everything. Im at the point, if i dont know who they are and nothing written on back, its leaving. Most of our family has passed. My 1st round I had 2 envelops I sent to someone. Her son does something with them. Has to do with maybe background fill in ads or something. Have a blessed day Tim. 🙏🎶🎶📖🦋🌻🌿☕☕

Hello! I wouldn’t give away the white plastic basket! I would use it to corral the tall bottles in the cupboard over your stove!
😊
I am probably late, but the small baking pans are amazing for small sauses 😊cheese sauces’ roast garlic and million things we cook😊
I routinely declutter both in the spring and fall …. Just today I was thinking I can’t wait to do it this time as I plan to purge a lot more as it will be 2 years in my new place and if not used yet … well out it goes….
I've donated knives to Goodwill in two different states. No problem. I wrapped the blades and then put them all in a paper bag and wrote "sharps" all over it. Don't know if any of that's required but I felt better doing that. Enjoyed listening to your thought process. I need to do that for some cupboards in my kitchen.
I've donated before too. I've stabbed mine into Styrofoam and then put tape on top for added measure.
That round steamer pan you are getting rid of would make a great colander/strainer for pasta.
I have one already.
Thank you for the reminder to go back and revisit previously uncluttered areas. The Salvation Army and a few other food kitchens will take spices and open boxes of single serve rapped foods and drinks at least here in Missouri. Most unhoused people will gladly take it. Just like recycling and composting your area of the country has a lot to do with what can easily be done in those areas. Don't take comments to seriously, poorly written and almost militaristic comments are rude at best and do not do anything for the cause... Thank you again for another informative and entertaining video. ❤😊
❤😊
Just wondering if you could use that little frying pan on your camping trips. I have one in my hurricane/camping kit that works pretty well on the propane stove. It's enjoyable to watch your decluttering videos - motivates me to go through my own stuff - again. Thanks for the inspiration Tim!
It’s too small for my stove. :(

I like how you talk through decisions. We can all pretend we are talking through our decisions with our UA-cam friends 😊
Haaa the face you made about the chocolate caramel 😅😅😅
good call letting inferior knives go! Say Hi to your Mom for us 💖
😊
For the last three months, I've been trying to stick to a carnivore diet. This has totally changed what I need in my kitchen, I've decluttered my salad spinner and jars I used for dry goods, when I go through everything, I know there will be a lot of things I'll get rid of. One item I do want though, is a burger press.
If I ever planned a new kitchen, I don't even think I'll have a cooker, all I really need is an air fryer and a plug in one or two ring hob, both could be put away when not in use, a simplified kitchen appeals to me, one big island and a floor to ceiling cupboard is all that's needed.
🙂
😊
Always an inspiration and a few giggles!
😂❤
You look slimmer! Congratulations
😊
I would love to declutter
❤
😊
Just recently found your channel and I absolutely love how much you go into detail about the pros and cons of decluttering as a retired person and how we can save money. Your voice is easy to listen to as well. You now have a loyal subscriber who is hitting 70 and needs all the help she can get here in the Camp Lejeune, NC area! I did download through your link for the gas!
Welcome!!

I've been working through a whole house declutter. The room I dreaded the most with the kitchen. It turned out to be the easiest because I could so quickly see what I used and what I didn't use. Everything is easy to grab and see now. I even have empty spots. I'm considering moving all food storage to only the kitchen.
Great job!
INSPIRING! Thank you!
This is a much better video. It's not making me dizzy.
😎
👍
I updated the kitchen 1 year ago. It gave me an opportunity to go through everything 19:04 and get rid of so much. I recently went through my plastic storage area and found several items without lids (toss) and several items I have not used in a year (give away). I just went through my baking drawer and realized that I had stored old rusty muffin pans that I hadn’t used in years (throw away). My baking habits have changed. I have a couple more items in that drawer and will keep them 1 more year for possible use (fantasy?). This video is much appreciated.
Thanks for showing the reality of time - decluttering a little at a time adds up!
😊
Super impressed with how much you declutterred! Great job!
Great video showing how much we can get done in just a few minutes. Don't worry about people making negative comments about throwing things away, etc. Just do what works for you.
Agree. I liked that he was cooking while decluttering.
It’s just my husband and myself and I have some of those cute little casserole dishes with lids that I’ve never used either. Time for me to go through my cabinets again. 😉
👍
Cleaners now under my kitchen sink: 1. cream cleanser with bleach (white porcelain sink) and 2. glass cleaner. I use a squirt of my Dawn power wash dish detergent foam to clean surfaces. It sits up on the sink. The rest is gone.
😊
Really enjoy your videos. Please don't put your kniin dishwasher. They'll dull. Hand wash them always!!
👍
FYI It’s best not to store cooking oils above the stove, as it gets hotter there and oils go rancid faster the warmer they are.
Good tip. I’ll move them today!
❤😊

Nice job on the decluttering and cooking. The light looks good in this kitchen video.

Thank you for this Tim. I will be going through kitchen things soon, although I did Declutter food items from my pantry. I do have a small load of items that I have been collecting around the house to donate as well . Your bacon wrapped brats looked delicious. I look forward to trying that. Enjoy the rest of your week.😊

LOL, it is your kitchen and you have a right to keep, give or throw away anything you choose.
Okay.. I'm inspired. Will be doing a declutter today!!
The baking dishes are adorable. The lighting is fantastic! A local Food pantry may take food if individually wrapped. I love decluttering videos. Look how much you got done in short time. I have too many lids and not enough pans to go with them! Good decision on silicone cupcake container. And as a nurse...good for you washing your hands after handling raw meat. Joan😀🥓

I know you love your coffee and hate to even mention this but I put 1/2 pack of the Caramel LMNT in my coffee on occasion. Maybe you could drink it that way?? Just a thought! And I agree about the ground meat chopper!
❤😊
We are selling the farm and moving into a house (160 acres to whittle down to a city lot 😬). I’m not sure how much time it’ll be before we move, so I’m trying to declutter now instead of rushing at the end. These videos encourage me. Knowing a quick sweep can produce results is good.
😊😊
Yes I agree the hamburger masher is invaluable. I saw an expensive one and found one more solid on Amazon for a few bucks, that works for me
❤😊
Going for those plate/pasta bowl type of dishes with the raised edges allows you to use just one type of dish as plates and bowls too. I need to go through my time will tell/seasonal dishes in the basement.
❤😊
Plates and serving stuff clutter drives me crazy. I need to get rid of more of it. We don't need it.
🙂
😊
Great job.

Goodwill takes knives and the food pantry should take the LMNT.

Nicely done!

👍🏼 I also have downsized and still look around and see so many things that I don’t use.
