This is such a lovely video. Seeing the artist explaining her process is fascinating
Thank you Jocelyn. I’m really glad that you enjoyed watching - I too found Gill explaining her process fascinating! J x
Thank you so much @jocelynconvery3462. Lovely of you to say ❤
Great place and a very inspiring artist, perhaps a past pupil of Miss Jean Brodie (?).
All of this combined with slightly eccentric editing, silent gaps, and music, but oddly this combination seems reasonably coherent, and gives great insight into a graceful artists, heart and home.
Thank you.
I agree with 'start where you are' for a studio. I actually have a lovely room now for creating/working/praying but I often use my portable art station-aka a large tray with sides that has my paints in jars, brushes in another, a few watercolor and sketch books plus a little portable water container with lid and a few pieces of paper towel. I can literally sit in my bed and paint! And somehow it feels less intimidating than sitting at a desk in a formal studio.
That sounds perfect Maria. X
I love the thought you can sit in your bed and paint. How inventive!
Hi! I just made a video of the church settlers from Isle of Skye in 1823 at Pea River Presbyterian Church. The videos are on UA-cam for the 200th Anniversary. I loved this video . I have been painting and making decoupages since 2019. I am a writer. Art has always made me happier. I may not offer many long comments like this. I will do my best to help you grow!
Thank you. That sounds fascinating. X
Lovely house, and very interesting discussion! I love Kilmartin also, such an ancient area.
It is fascinating isn’t it?
What a beautiful serene home and garden she has created for herself. Beautiful! And the amount of work she produces out of her little studio is simply amazing!
Isn’t it just gorgeous. It was so kind of her to let me film. J x
Well thank you for sharing with us🙂
Thank you for your lovely comments @carolnacarto4448. ❤
It was a joy to share on here along with my lovely friend Jane. Thank you for watching and leaving such beautiful words ❤
A wonderful garden and home with a lovely lady and artist. Thanks so much for the tour. Love and blessings 💚🌸💚
Thank you Jeane. X
So glad you enjoyed Jane’s tour. Thank you for your kind comments.
I like this video... the drive to the friends place . The little studio. Lovely works from a small space. The garden etc . Good for my heart.

Thanks Clare, you are right - a beautiful place. X
Such kind comments. Thank you @clarefoskett9959 ❤
Thank You, I found this so inspiring, Bless You Both
Thank you so much. X
I’ve just started painting after a 29 year break. After having cancer and a break up I now feel ready to go for it. The fear of it seems to have melted away. I worry sometimes I’m too old now (47) Si this was just what I needed to hear 😊
Thanks Rebecca. I’m glad it resonated. X
This makes me hugely happy to hear. @rebeccacox244. I am sorry you have had to face such a traumatic journey, but glad to hear you are coming through the other side. Embrace your painting with your whole heart in a playful way , mor healing will flow ❤
You go for it! I am 67 and used to paint before I married and a short while into my marriage then quit. I did do decorative painting here and there. I am thinking I’d like to start up with oils again. again or even try water color or acrylics. Im retired now and have no excuses not to explore my creative side again.
I'm relearning painting for myself. And living for myself . It's a very healthy process of self love and growth.
Open your heart fearlessly for self love. Dare to be bad or , good just learn and grow. Play is healthy at any age. I have painted since I was a child. I started thinking about marketable work . Now I paint what I love and what to explore.
What a joy it was being immersed in Gill’s studio and inspiration. She really exudes such a creative nurturing spirit.
I’m so glad that you enjoyed it Katherine. X
What a wonderful place Gill has created and I loved her take on playing with our creativity which I tell my workshop participants all the time. Nothing more important. I will share this with my husband, who will really enjoy this too. xx
Thanks Heike - I think that Gill is a great teacher. I hope that your husband enjoys watching. X
Thank you so much. Really kind of you. Love that you tell your workshop participants the same.
Hope your husband enjoys 🤍
Thank you for sharing. I love Gill's garden, studio, & cottage.
Her art is beautiful, it would be wonderful to join a class. Alas, I live in another country.
The cottage is gorgeous, and all the decor and art. 🤗🌷🎨😍
I hope you don't mind me saying I didn't enjoy the music though, lol. We all like different things of course.
Thanks Janine. I’m sorry that you didn’t like the music / it’s always difficult to find something that everyone enjoys. X
Such kind comments . Glad you enjoyed my little space and thoughts ❤
What a lovely woman! Gill is gorgeous inside and out! Thank you for sharing your time together 😊💕.
She really is. Thank you for watching. X
You are so kind. Thank you so very much.
What a beautiful place and such a wise advice to give us. I started painting 9 years ago as I turned 60 and I’m loving it. Thank you so much for sharing this artist and her sanctuary. I can’t wait to visit Scotland in a year. Gil is an inspiration.
Thank you. I hope that you enjoy your trip to Scotland.
So kind and lovely of you Constantine .Glad you enjoyed @Constantine1593 ❤

Oooh how marvelous! Fellow artist coming to Scotland for the first time in November to discover my ancestry! This is thrilling!
If you are in Argyll at all you must look up Gill’s website www.lovedovestudio.com in case she has any events on. I hope that you really enjoy your trip - where did your ancestors live?
Would love to meet you one day. My door is always open . Always happy to arrange workshops to suit .

I’m so glad that you enjoyed watching Jen. And yes so many inspirational words!
Thank you for your lovely comments Jen. I am deeply touched
Your tulips are as beautiful as the sunrise🦋🌷🌱🍋🍊
Gill is an inspiration. The idea that I loved the most is, and it may be something that is already a common sense way of working for most artists, but knowing that whatever medium you work with, it has an energy and it will speak to you during the creative experience. Learning to listen is the new skill to incorporate.💖
Thank you. I think you are right - that is the main thing to get right. X
I really think listening is the way to creative freedom. Naturally it comes with its challenges, but that is how we learn to create something beautiful that is unique to yourself. How special that is . Thank you so much for your comment. Makes me very happy to have shared something you can hold onto.
Well, this was fun and I could move right into her lovely cottage! Awesome art studio and artist!😊
Isn’t it beautiful?
Jane did a marvellous job , pulling everything together. Very talented.
Thank you for your lovely comments @Usdukes
Lovely inside and outside, front to back... thanks so much for sharing 👍💕

Thank you Sandra. She really is. J x
Thank you so much. Very lovely of you to say Gx
Love all the colors and the neutrals.🎉
Thank you so kindly @dianalindsay804 lovely of you to say ❤️
I create things out of things. In my dinning are today I am almost finished with a circus in an old stand alone bird cage; in the kitchen nook a leg mannequin is combing out spectacular, and the second room is the actual supply room and small project room. Have a small patio area full of flowers as well.
I can relate to her totally, thank you. What a lovely life we live. 🕊🙏💕
That sounds amazing. X
Lovely hearing about your creativity. So nice to be able to relate to one another.
FIrst time viewer here. My Scottish ancestors settled in Western North Carolina, USA. Our beautiful mountains and rolling hills look very similar to yours. I'm a landscape painter who has carved out a small corner in our spare bedroom. Loved this video!
Thank you. I find it interesting how many people, whom I meet walking, are visiting Scotland to retrace the steps of ancestors. X
So glad you loved the video. Sharing time with Jane was such a joy ❤
This is pure joy. 😍
I very much enjoyed this video. The freedom with which Gill paints and her message is so inspiring. I am a new subscriber as of today. I am excited to see and experience more of her creativity. ❤
Thank you. And thank you for subscribing. X
Such a lovely comment . Thank you so much ❤
Well that was a treat to watch, thank you
Thank you x
Thank you so very much @karenmackinnon7385 I am delighted you enjoyed Jane’s wee tour
Love cottages. They are so cozy and quaint.
It has a beautiful feel to it Bonita - the spaces are just right somehow.
WONDERFUL....EVERYTHING.....TY😊
Thank you so kindly. It was a joy having Jane visit. Lovely speaking to all of you too from my little cottage and studio. Thank you for watching @AH-em3zl ❤
Lovely studio, cottage & artist. 💕🌸 Thank you both for sharing. 🙏🏽🌸
Thank you so much! J x
Thank you so kindly @somepinkflowers
Just retired from art teaching and your video and life is exactly what I needed today, a very big thank you to you both❤.
Thank you. I’m so glad that you enjoyed it. X
So wonderful you enjoyed. @tweeties4890. Thank you ❤
This was so inspiring . Gill is such a lovely women and her home is full of light and life. I've always been creative and now I'm finding myself falling in to paint gouache in particular I'm finding lovely to work with. Watercolour still scares me however. Imagine opening up your home for artists how lovely.
Thanks Tracy. I’m very glad that you enjoyed the film. X
Thank you for watching @tracysmith9393 Gouache is a lovely medium to embrace. Watercolour does scare many , but no need. Splash around with it, just remember to allow sections to dry you want to keep. Try embracing a wet on wet technique too in a playful way to find out what you like.
So wish you could visit one day to simply play and be liberated. All fear gone…Happy painting. Would love to hear how you get on ❤
@@GillStewart-it3oe since I live in Scotland too maybe one day I'll make that visit x
So lovely. Hope there will be more videos. Thank you for this sweet ray of sunshine.
Thank you. X
Jane’s little films are wonderful and always inspiring. So glad you joined us for the journey in this one @JoyceRoth-jv3tc ❤
I loved this! The cottage is scrumptious! And the tiny studio is a bit of heaven! Thank you so much for the video!

Thanks Su. Xx
Thank you so much Su @sufrance3866 your work is always such an inspiration
Layers of beautiful scenes in the garden the studio nook for creative energy and the home which surprised me with the subtle tones that made it just a beautiful place to be…thankyou for the visit..🦋🌸🦋
Thank you. I’m so glad that you enjoyed it. X
So relaxing 🎉
Thank you. Gill has such a lovely home. X
superbe
What an amazing, articulate and intuitive artist. Gill has put into words what countless art classes have failed to teach me. She is one of the greatest teachers I have ever encountered. Love, love, love, the sandpaper idea. Thank you!
I love the sandpaper too!
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you Sally . Lovely of you to say so .
Start where you are... So true, don't overcomplicated things😌
This was so encouraging and inspiring....what a generous and talented woman!
Thank you Candace. I was very lucky that Gill let me film in her beautiful home and studio. X
It was a joy to have Jane visit. Thank you for your lovely comments Candace ❤
First video of yours I have seen I thoroughly enjoyed it, so thank you from Iowa USA

Beautiful and very sweet artist...lovely garden and house too..great art..thank you.
Thank you. I’m glad that you enjoyed it. X
Goodness. How very kind, very kind indeed. Thank you so much. Very lovely of you ❤
Wow, this was just wonderful! I am a Scot living in Australia so the feeling of being back home was wonderful....Gill's work is marvelous and what a generous artist to share her insights and thought process. I loved the idea of keeping the old paint palette paper for collage and the net bag from lemons...brilliant! I have saved this video as I will revisit it again and again. Thank you Jane @ Snapdragon Life and Gill Stewart for sharing. 💜👍✨💗
Thank you Angela. Isn’t the paint palette just wonderful? J x
Whether a wonderful message to read . Thank you ever so much @angelamccoll9786 ❤

It was fun! Thank you @dianegrenier8426
Oh! This was just glorious to watch! What an inspiration to learn from the lovely Gill and to see her heart toward's sharing with others. This is what my own heart yearns for. Her cottage is nested in the most inspiring way and now I'll wish to be there always.
Thank you. What a lovely description of Gill’s cottage. X
I just set up a table at the front end of our shed to make hand built pottery. It has been so satisfying.
That sounds like a wonderful idea. X
I love to read this. Delighted you are enjoying your space ❤@denisecarter5117
Oh my word... the history of that church and cemetery was breathtaking. The moss and ferns growing on the tombstone is natures art at its miraculous best. Love her cozy little studio. We should all have a destination like that. BTW... her hair is gorgeous!!!
Thank you. Xx
I loved this video! What a great atmosphere and so many good ideas. I agree, sharing sounds nicer than teaching, friendlier. I’ve been trying to create a little spot in my shed for art, but it’s a slow go, lots of other junk in there. So I love her little art studio. Just being outside is so nice, with some shelter.
I’m also diving deep into the recesses of a shed at the moment so I feel your pain!
Starting where you are brings many new and lovely surprises along the way. So glad you enjoyed your visit on here to my little cottage, studio & garden @RobertRemlinger-mq8iy
Very inspiring, thank you for taking us into Gill's world. Love from Germany.
Thank you x

So thrilled that you did @cuddlybear2067 Thank you ❤
💯 beautiful, natural, wonderful 😊
Loved it. I could listen to he all day - very inspiring. Thank you. Hmm.....now I might have to add painting in her garden to my bucket list!
It’s a beautiful part of the country with a lot of history - perfect for a short break. X
Thank you for your kind comments @youcsnalwaysstsrtnow8 I would love to welcome you one day ❤
Would be a dream to welcome you one day ❤
I Love Luss (and cemeteries--we actually moved next door to one!) That graveyard is incredible and even inspired a poem that was published in a journal recently🙂
They are such wonderful places to explore. X
This is my first visit to your channel. Loved the studio chat! It was very encouraging for me. Love her art... even the in-proces or experimental pieces are fabulous to me. I'm not a lover of gray, but her piece with the mustard is lovely. Now her home... beautiful but definitely not for me! I need color! I suppose because she works with color all the time, her eyes and mind need a place to rest. 😊 Thank you for sharing! 🎨
Thank you. I’m glad that you enjoyed watching. X
Fascinating to read @revonda5204. You are absolutely right, my eyes need a resting place. I work with muted & colourful palettes in my art, but my home needs to be quiet. For many reasons . Sometimes splashes and clashes appear in cushions and throws, florals & candles too. Probably mostly in Autumn and Winter. I love how we all see differently.
Thanks for commenting ❤
Inspiring. Thank you.
Thank you @csamuels9670. So kind of you.
Hello Jane, I absolutely love this video. After 50+ years of believing that I cannot paint, I am painting. It's not anything grand, mostly following others' tutorials. But, I am creating it and it is fun. Most of the time, I take either other paintings or photos of things, mostly flowers and I put them together, like a sort of collage to create a new painting. Yes, I know, that lighting is off because it's flowers from different photos (and paintings), but I create something that I like....
I also use wet palette and up to now have been throwing away my dried up wax paper "palette", but using this "palette" like Gill suggests is a great idea. Thank you.
The palette idea is amazing isn’t it - I’m so glad they you are back painting and enjoying it. X
@@snapdragonlife thank you
Lovely!
The garden and view are lovely and artwork. Her home is so pretty and quaint. Had to mute the music you had playing. With the nice tour, something soft or without words would be nicer.
Thanks for sharing. 🙏✝️🐾🐝🦋🇺🇸
From Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. USA.
Thanks. Am in the process of deciding whether to buy a very small shed/studio or not. Have such a small area to place it. Having seen your video - well it gives me hope.
Thanks you. 🌼
Thanks. I think Gill does show how much can be achieved in a tiny space and with such flair. Good luck with your studio. J x
Thank you @karenmcc2197. Do go ahead and create a little studio. You won’t regret it ❤🎨🧑🎨
Beautiful home with a lovely inspiring woman living in it 😊

What have we to lose….it’s just paint. Gill seems a lovely person. 🏴
How lovely of you to say. Thank you so kindly ❤
Thank you Jane and Jill. Such sn inspiring video from the stunning views to the creative hub that is her home......such a warm and welcoming person. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space . Just love the studio and your thoughts on creativity are inspiring . Just play with it! Feel it from the heart. I love that 🙏❤️ Does Jill work mainly in a Acrylic or oils?
Thank you Tania. I’m so glad that you enjoyed watching. X
Such a generous and lovely message. Thank you tania @taniamnallister
I paint in both, but mainly acrylics for ease. I incorporate other media into my acrylics eg crayon, pastel etc
Thank you for a beautiful video Jane. Very inspirational regarding completing art. Im working towards doing art and I’m scared to try - which is so daft. I wish I lived nearby I would love to come to one of Gill’s beginners course. It’s a very generous, kind thing to try to inspire others xxxx
Thanks Julie. I should perhaps see if Gill can do a class for The Studio Club. What do you think?
What a beautiful video. It was a delight to hear the lovely Gill sharing her thoughts on the importance of just letting go and having fun with Art. Her space is so inviting and full of beautiful work, ideas and inspiration. Thank you so much.

What a brilliant video and inspiring woman. I wonder if Gill takes part in the open studios in Argyll?
Thanks - I really don’t know. I shall ask her later. X
Thank you . Lovely of you to say. @pmswatson
Yes, I am taking part In Artmap this year with my husband George - number 31
Such beautiful comments. I am quite moved. Always know my door is open if anyone would like to visit ❤
Really beautiful. Is love to know the size of her little studio? It’s gorgeous.
It is a very small space - I was filming wedged into the door- one of those summerhouses with the double doors at the front. It fits the painting table and then Gill standing behind.
Forgot to say @karenmcc2197 my studio is 7feet long by 5feet deep. Had to go with planning restrictions, but it works fine ❤
Thanks so much for that. Much appreciated.
Love this so much. Could you tell what media she’s using. It doesn’t seem like watercolor but I can’t tell what it is. Thank you
Perhaps Gill could elaborate about the technique. I wouldn’t want to get it wrong. X
Sorry to be so long replying. In the video I am working with Acrylic @jackiblair . Both watered down, which can have a look of watercolour or gouache. I also apply it thickly for different surfaces and textures . Hope that helps ❤
@@GillStewart-it3oe Hello Gill…..No worries. I rewatched the video with pleasure again. I hadn’t quite taken in the size of your studio. So nice to have a private spot for your art isn’t it. Jacki
