- I don't know a lot about this version but I think it was a live improvisation by the composer, Taku Iwasaki. Transcription was done by oOSunnyCuiOo who is a fantastic player. Go check out her channel if you like anime music: / oosunnycuioo
Black Butler had such pretty music, but it always confused me. It sounded so welcoming and peaceful, but filled with sorrow and darkness and gloom at the same time. It has it's light moments, but then it tricks you by returning to eerie and sad melodies. I guess that's why all of the songs fit the anime so well - they're very similar.
i guess that's what the anime is about
a character who is finding his happiness.. slowly but surely, but his past comes back to bite him if he gets too out of line

To me, this song is a story of emotion. The beginning is cold, lonely, and sorrowful. Like reaching out into blackness, but finding nothing reaching back for you. The realization of foolish mistakes set in, and fill you. Frustration and anger take over, but then back to the coldness. The coldness is back, then regret, frustration, madness, loneliness, depression, all battling. But it's useless, and all for naught. It won't change your sins, your wrongdoings. The longing, sadness, and regret fully set in, fully taking over. Truly a ride of emotion

reminds me of a sort of massive loss in your life, and you're just trying to move on, there's ups and downs and you're continually falling over but you get back up again, and it's a strange memory to think of when you're older and talking to your children or something about it

I still watch this every day, and because of you, I'm starting to really grasp the "emotional" factor of piano solos. I always try to learn my favorite songs by ear if needed, but never get close to finishing a single one; So I'm not sure if this means much to you, but this is the very first song I've ever felt so motivated to learn completely by ear. Your fantastic performance of this song has led me to a huge accomplishment, and I really can't thank you enough.
By the way, this performance is my personal favorite, and I've seen a LOT of piano videos.

I've been meaning to ask, is there a synthesia for this version of Si Deus Me Relinquit?
Other songs I can't cry about how sad it is, like the slightly chipped full moon even though I'm crying internally, with this song I actually cried. Maybe because I love Ciel and consider him my favorite character of all time, but this just moved me.
From the way Ciel's life went, I think this OST kind of missed out on that added in part, the lower-sounding part. Sounded good. :3

This is the one song and one version that hits me right in the emotions every time, I don’t know what it is but I can relate to it on a weird and abstract level. It’s the peak of despair but also liberating. Even just having my feelings expressed through music puts me at peace, perhaps it’s the only thing that does with all the depression, anxiety and emotional vacuum. I hear somebody screaming. Maybe it’s me. Why are we still here? Just to suffer. I can feel my arm... Amazing performance, memes aside.
Same I come back to this song at the height of my grief afterwards I usually hope my pain has left me and I feel a grand weight lifted off my shoulders.
