- We wire up a traffic signal light.
I purchased a traffic light and had no Idea how to wire it up. Found a video on UA-cam that had the prefect solution. It really didn't show how to wire it up but it had where to buy a control board, So I ordered the board and it arrived very early. This is for a LED light if yours is the older regular incandescent lights you'll need the other board that's much more heavy duty. I'm showing you how to wire a traffic signal for your mancave or shop. I'm so excited how this works and how nice it looks. Can't wait to clean it up and find a solution for mounting it. just purchased another really cheap $35 so I ned to purchase another circuit board noq I have one for the shop and one for the mancave...

Good information on the heavy duty circuit board for the incandescent signals I didn’t know to order the hd one. I got a great deal on mine too… free!

kpjVideo I liked it so much last week i purchased another plus one with arrows so I have 3 LOL where to put them....
Wire pull about 8.5 minutes would have been easier if you opened the red light. Great video. i have several walk and don't walk individual lights to wired up. thought about making them flash GO Browns by making a print out on a mylar pastic sheet that can print in a normal printer

Thanks for light help! We just got one but want it flashing likes yours. We are excited just to see the Giantvlights go On! And you are right on bout the New Toy thang! Lol got a cross walk sign but has three wires coming out. Says with DIP SWITCH? KNOW ANYTHING BOUT IT?
@lukegutierrez4889 have no idea about the switch. You might contact the company that makes the electronics for the light and crosswalk s and ask about that wire to make sure you get the correct electronics to operate your sign. Wish I could help more, sorry, thanks for viewing
The traffic light should be right side up. So, when it's right side up, the red light has to be on the top of the yellow light, and the green light has to be on the bottom of the yellow light.
Francis Lorico this was strictly just to see if the lights worked and the electronic thing worked. Now I know all is good I'll do another video for cleaning it up. mounting the electrinics properly in the light and how I figure how to mount it in my shop. Thanks for viewing.

For a traffic light controller I'd imagine you could also use something called a raspberry pi which is a super tiny little computer that runs on Linux and they come with some really useful IO ports which allow you to program it to do practically anything such as running a stop light. Of course you might have to be pretty literate in code I don't know.
james auld I'm sue there are a few alternatives I'm trying to learn the Arduino for my model railroading. For the light this was by far the easiest for me. I'm not electronic savvy at all. but I try.
1.5 npt water pipe fittings can be used to mount these to a wall

@mikepeel1121 there is a link in the description below the video. there are 3 different depending on your light one for LED, one for traditional incandescent bulb and one for a crosswalk light. Just check in the description below the video you'll find the info you need.
That is a general traffic equipment corp signal from the 70's or 80's

I have a traffic light and it was completely gutted, I have put incandescent lights in with standard 2 wire light sockets. I also got the walk and don't walk side lights. So when green light is on the walk light works and when the red light I on the don't walk sign is on. When I am wiring it up can I also put the power wire for the walk sign on the green light terminal?
And you said you got your controller from Galic electronics in maryland, would you happen to have a model number cause I would like to order one. Thanks awesome video
andrew williams in the description below the vid I have a link to where I purchased mine. If you use regular bulbs I think you may need their heavier duty board (they draw more than LED) but check out the link go to their website you'll find the boards they have and you might even contact them and ask about the walk sign I think they have a board that accommodates both signals at once.
Also did you know that the middle color is actually not yellow, it is amber?

How do I program a remote when I wire the traffic light so I can change its colors by remote
bret no there is no remote power it on and thats it. you manually change the pattern and yellow light time.
