Storm Mountain 153 trail work day! Tree cutting, hand tools, mountain cardio!

- Saturday June 8th Big Thompson Wheelers went up our adopted trail 153 (closed since 2020 due to the Cameron Peak Fire) on our USFS trail agreement and swept the trail for trees down, and did our best to fill in the big washout mid-way down 153 which is the actual reason why this trail is still closed.
After an hour of back breaking hand tool work, we were able to fill it in enough to get an open differential truck up it with relative ease. The rest of us drove up the steep part of the washout before any hand tool work just to see if we could (AND WE DID!!).

As a landscaper picks and pickaxes are a thing of the past you can throw out your elbow your shoulder twisted wrist. The new thing we're using when we're digging by hand is called a sharpshooter shovel. If you guys would have had a set of those and formed a assembly line on that one side of the bank and carved a fault line the whole side with a collapsed right into that rut. Bing 56 and still out there working hard I like to find easy ways to make a hard job go smoother with less body damage or aches and pains you might want to check out that shovel again the sharpshooter shovel.

Can you get Greer and Ballard open next? The forest service doesn't respond to calls.
ballard is closed still due to fire damage and is washed out in a couple spots. also not adopted by our club, but, we have a meeting with the FS this week and can ask what is going on with it.
