It just sounds a bit weird every time a new PM gives a speech about how things will change and yet they’ve been in power for 12 years now… are they implying that they’ve been doing nothing this whole time?

Not to mention the fact that the skew of the curve varies depending on the particular economic conditions of the country being analysed, which in turn affects what tax rate is optimal.
It’s general consensus amongst economists’ estimations of the UK laffer curve that the benefits of tax cuts to government revenue aren’t likely to be observed until tax rates surpass 75%. Given our current tax rates, higher taxes are undoubtedly needed to increase revenues, let alone under Truss’ plan to cut taxes further.

Truss is serially incompetent, a political lightweight, and will be clinging onto power by the end. Already, the polls which name Truss as the Tory leader see Labour gain 3% and the Tories lose 4%, vs just naming the parties without leaders. It's going to be a bloodbath in 6 months' time when the 1922 Committee start knifing her in the front again.
