Yup "cause when a when a woman is fed up..there ain't nothing you can do about it...its like running out of love and it's too late to talk about it." If this song ain't truth!!
It is not necessarily a revenge when a woman is silent. Sometimes it does not worth it to say anything, either that person still don’t understand even if you explain many times or is just that person doesn’t worth the your time haha
I always found it interesting that no one was wailing when Ruyi died like when the other empress died. It was so quiet, they were all so soft spoken, much like Ruyi was in her life. Her voice was always so smooth and gentle, even when she was angry.
I like to think the reason for that is to emphasize the differences between the two empresses. Empress Fucha played the game of the harem, ruthlessly scheming against the consorts and concubines to secure her position and power to the point where when it was her funeral, nobody was actually sad or sincerely mourned her. Ruyi, on the other hand, rose above the corruption of the harem. She sought a harmonious life even within the treacherous inner palace, wanting to help and befriend these women, even Concubine Rong whom the emperor was obsessed with. So when it was her funeral, there was no superficial mourning or crocodile tears. Every tear shed, every sentiment uttered was genuine: women grieving for a lost friend and leader whom they loved, not concubines wailing for an empress because they have to.

I think they were actually sad unlike all the fake crying they had to stage when the first empress died, remember emperor wanted everyone to be sad because of the death of the Fuca empress
I like how she took care of everyone knowing she won't last long, but took everything away from the emperor. Even destroying everything that he may remember her by. It's like she's saying "You abandoned me so I'll abandon you and free myself from you." It's that phrase 'you get what you want, but you lost what you need.'
I think she did it too to take the pain from him. She choose diminish because she was free, not happy but free, not seeking suffer for him but her freedom
@Nurhayat Leon Guerrero Even the Emperor's little sister, the High Princess in the series, said something to that effect when she was returned to the Empress Dowager... After, twenty years, she didn't forgive him for what he put her through, either...
I'm glad to see that Ruyi stayed true to herself. I don't blame her for what she did to the emperor at the end. He doesn't deserve a beautiful woman like Ruyi who has a beautiful mind, body, and soul. It's truly his loss at the end where he overlooked his true treasure Ruyi. I truly believe she died of a broken heart and she gave up at the end where she refuse treatments for her illness. If the emperor truly loves her like she loves him, he would have noticed she's was suffering and spent more time with her. Her last words to him was kind and sincere as that was her farewell to him. He was too stupid not to understand her. To see him lives in regrets after she died, it was already too late for him. The part about trying to restore the painting, what the painter said is 100% spot on. No matter how good a painting/painter is, it's what's in the eyes and hearts of those being painted that matters.
The worst thing about Rongpei drinking the tea is that you could see in her face she knew what was happening and just couldn’t stop it. That really sucks.
@@akosuaasamoah5704 Rongpei face shows that Ruyi was about to die, and that those were their last moments together. That’s why she’s sad while drinking tea
Man, I've only seen three of the videos before this and I'm already tearing up for what Ruyi has gone through with her husband and her death. Such a woman of class.
When Ruyi asked Rongpei to drink the tea, she asked as a friend. It was completely out of the norm in the royal palace at the time, and it was strictly forbidden for someone like Rongpei to sit with a royal consort -- let alone the Empress -- and drink tea with her. Yet, at the end of her journey, Ruyi saw in Rongpei a loyal friend and confidant, not a servant any more. Rongpei was deeply moved by the simple request. At the end of it all, what matters is not titles, wealth, or power, but genuine, profound, long-lasting human connection that transcends all.
Yes. According to the rules, all maids have to be standing when the master/mistress is sitting. You can check the other episodes of Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace, during meetings of imperial concubines and the empress. The concubines are sitting, while the maids are standing.
@@kateli1880 No, not in Qing Dynasty. Before yes, but not during the Qing Dynasty. It is optional for servants to die after their mistress. Rongpei chose to do it because she was very loyal to her. Remember in around episode 47 (or around that) when Empress Ruyi saved her while being beaten by her superior Eunuch? Anyone knows Imperial Noble Consort Huixian? She died in episode 33 and her maid did not die with her, although she was very loyal to her. The maid Mo Xin chose to continue living in order to take revenge for her.
I remember during the beginning when ruyi asked the painter why only have one wife and one man forever. And the painter said yes it's that way but if there is no love then the wife can leave the man. I think ruyi remembered that in her heart to make that decision.
Interesting. The painter was a Jesuit. Divorce is nearly impossible in church and in the very Catholic country of Italy where he was born. At that time. From his perspective though none in the harem really married. Annulment would be the better word. You can’t be married to multiple people. You can’t sleep around when married. Not like that was not done among western leaders of the time. But their issue could not reign. It was open yet hidden. There is not way a woman in the west could in a Catholic predominant country go to the courts and say I want a divorce I don’t love him anymore. There would have been bits of time briefly off and one where they might legally get away from excessive abuse. Not abuse just excessive. Or if they were barren. Or if either cheated.
Rongpei was so loyal and strong she loved Ruyi and their relationship wasn't that of a servant and master it was more Ruyi treated Rongpei like an equal. From the moment Ruyi saved Rongpei I knew it was the best thing she could ever do in that harem she saved Rongpei and got a loyal friend for life!
The thing that really stuck out to me was Ruyi remembering all the old consorts and saying their real names instead of their rank names and wondering what would happen if they were still here. She knows they were human, people beyond their titles. That's what makes Ruyi so beautiful.
This last moment of ruyi is the crowning glory of this masterpiece of a series. The peace, enlightenment, lack of resentment and calm with which she passes is incredible. She genuinely wishes she could sit and chat and drink tea with all of her friends and adversaries, despite everything that happened between them. She's let it all go, and still respects the humanity of the people who have hurt her so badly. If that's not "loving the sinner, but hating the sin" I don't know what is. Incredible scene from an amazing series.
Notice that at 7:08, when Ruyi listed all the deceased consorts, she listed them by their real names, rather than by their titles. This is to hint that even after so many long years, Ruyi still remembered them, not as consorts who plotted against her and against each other, but ill-fated women who used to be graceful before the competition for power and favor in the harem corrupted them. And even after many years, she's the only one to remember their true names, showing that despite all the mishaps most of them caused her, they still have a place in her heart. Whereas the Emperor had long forgotten about them...
Yes. One example I can think of is A'ruo who used to serve her when she was still an imperial concubine. A'ruo was once very loyal to her, but betrayed her to climb up ranks. After she became an imperial concubine, she schemed her countless times. Giving poisonous food, putting kerosene to burn her residence, etc. Later, after the emperor realized A'ruo's wrong doings, he demoted her to a commoner and left her to Ruyi to be punished. Before she sent her to the Cold Palace as punishment, she told her "My heart wouldn't have hurt so much if the one who schemed me like this wasn't you." This is because A'ruo came from Ruyi's maiden home. In this case, you are right that Ruyi remembered all the people not as evil people, but ill-fated people who had been very kind and graceful before competing in the harem.
@@UnknownUser12316 That was probably the only time he showed 'love' to RuYi. Even though he had to subject her to the Cold Palace. He played along with their games to investigate what happened but then after that he went batshit crazy.
Would you mind listing their consort names? Their real names are said so little, I only recognized Huixian, Xiaoxian, Jia, A'ruo and Yanwan. I don't remember who Liyun and Yihuan were...
The maid has so much love for her Mistress as did the Empress. They were as close as blood. Ruyi didn't want her maid to see her die and for the last moments of them being alive together to be of joy. That was what made me cry when they died together
Ruyi Royal love in palace. It's a looooong drama. Like 80+ eps. Acting is great though. Is you want a modern drama I highly recommend Go Ahead. It talks about mental health, different family dynamics, forgiveness, friendship and love.
important detail... is that when ruyi says rongpei was her blessing... was that she used " wo" and not "benggong", signifying a deep personal meaning of appreciation that overrides rules of etiquette
Zhou Xun, the female protagonist, She convinced the whole team to change the ending of this drama into a different portrait compared to the one in the novel. That makes the film version is on an extraordinary level. Her reason why she wanted to change it was, she wants the film to focus on self-value, the nature of life in which its temporariness is underscored. She said there is no reason for me to commit suicide (according to the original novel) because of having a bad husband. She wants us to treasure ourselves, and learn to accept things come and go naturally. Zhou Xun's Ruyi is keeping her ethicality, her conscience, and her philosophy unfaded consistently throughout the movie. According to what Empress dowager said to the Emperor, she admired Ruyi so much for her ability of maintaining her integrity despite facing many obstacles and greediness in the palace. Zhou Xun is one of the greatest actress I have seen so far. Please check for her movie in the early of her careers. You would be amazed by her talent.
I didn't know this and yes, Zhou Xun (this lady can act hands down, pure talent) was right. Although many people see Ruyi as a "loser", I absolutely love her character. I have to say this drama is relatable in terms of life, friendship, marriage and what we deem as successful.
She is the only reason I watched this drama , she played her character so beautifully. I'm glad she changed the ending by turning it into something beautiful instead of pitiful like taking ones life because of her husband.
Although her character didn’t commit suicide but she did stop her medication. Well, at least the latter isn’t as drastic. Which other ZhouXun movies do you recommend?
@@never4ever386 hi there, how are you? if you notice the doctor said her illness cant be cured anymore. So, medication just probably helps to abate her illness temporary or just sustain her lifespan a litte bit. She has to face death anyway in order to be matching with the historical event. I would recommend "Love Story in Shanghai -2000" , "Suzhou River -2000" "Perhaps love - 2005" , "The Equation of Love and Death -2008" "Red Sorghum - 2014" And last but not least, her legacy "Painted Skin - 2008, 2 parts"
Wow. I am really impressed by this actress Zhou Xun's acting. Like SE-RIOUS-LY. She expressed Ruyi's emotion in the most calming way( except for when she hit her limits when she yelled at emperor and Wei Yanwan) but I can feel every of her extreme emotions in her eyes. Her eyes tells me everything that she feels. Like how can you show your emotions like excitement, sadness, rage, disappointment in such calming way and I can still feel them in such high levels. I am amazed by her acting ability. She is one of the best actress I have even seen. 👏👏👏
She is one of the best actresses I have ever seen too. Every character she played came alive with her ... I am so happy that China has produced such a great actress. I am not into dramas but Zhou Xun told stories in a different way than the drama queens & kings. Her eyes spoke volume. I am not even a movie-goer and I do not speak Mandarin. In my part of the world (Europe) it is not easy to find Chinese films anyway, thank God for YT!
Ruyi knew she was going to die but didnt tell the emperor. The last person she talked to and shared her thoughts with was the ever faithful and loving Rong Pei who never faltered in her loyalty. The last words she spoke were heard by her dearest friend...and the husband got nothing..as he deserved. She died peaceful and quietly with her friend by her side.
I rarely cry in these dramas, but a tear rolled down my cheek during this scene. She knew she was going to die that night and that's why she was recounting everything. Rongpei knows it too. She sees it in her eyes. This has got to be the most heartbreaking drama death I've seen. I'm just glad she died peacefully.
And it's a long death scene. Usually death scenes are unpleasant, and it's the reason why directors tend to stay away from long death scene. But this one was done well. It was telegraphed thus preparing the audience for Ruyi's death. And it also gives us one last chance to admire Zhou Xun's acting. What an artist!
The emperor treated the one woman who sincerely loved him miserably. He abused her, never stood up for her. She was the light he snuffed out. I hope he yearned for her every moment of his life.
She was the 2nd woman that refused everything that came from him,she show him that she was better than him, she probe the crimes that she was accused, she never killed a innocent person like her sister did, people outside the palace were very upset for the funeral of Rhuy.
I don't even know why my tears started running from the moment the empress and her servant talked before she died. Crying over this a drama I haven't even watch.lol
If you think about it, at the end Ruyi loved the emperor and she got rid of 99% if not all of the evil people in the harem. FOR HIM!!!!! She did what she could for him in the end. She still gave her whole life to that man even in death. I respect her greatly.
Do you remember Rongpei if the Empress loved the Emperor before she died ? The Empress said she didn't love him . She grew out of love for him because he didn't trust Ruyi and he treated Ruyi like trash 🗑️ . Who would want to love someone like him . Deadbeat !
That's very true . Her 2-3 sons (Prince's ) , Princess and for her mother . Ling was the one who was killing everyone , Ruyi was that type of person but she got her revenge for all those who lost their lives including her children because of Ling in the end .No ! Ruyi didn't miss him and she grew out of love for the Emperor that's why she doesn't want to meet him in her afterlife . So ! They will go their separate ways .She wanted to be free of all the abuse and pain the Emperor had caused her . Freedom is all she wants for her and her last son Yongji .
Naw to me yanxi was better, acting and all that. I never shed a tear during this drama, I just got angry. But it's all up to whoever is watching but I will say that yanxi palace broke records the year it came out which was the same year ruyis love came out. Most people liked reasonable plots, great acting and strong female leads. Being a doormat for some man just doesn't resonate with me or most of the world.
@@avolution1660 This is a historical drama. I prefer this one to Yanxi because it shows so much more of the true agony it was to be part of the imperial harem. The tone in RRLITP is much more accurate than Yanxi, regarding characters, plot, and how life was in the harem. Ruyi and Yingluo are both very strong female characters, they are just written differently. Ruyi, in no way, was a doormat. She is the only person in the royal family who stayed true to herself, even when love wasn't enough anymore. The fact of the matter is, Ruyi shows much more of the agony behind love and marriage- Yingluo doesn't have that for me.
Ruyi's death scene tears anyone's soul, excellent work by Xun Zhou and Huan Qi. The poor empress appears to us as a woman tired of palace intrigues and who has been disappointed by the emperor's lack of confidence in her. His final reward is a sweet, painless death and freedom from the machinations of the court. Rest in peace, Ula-Nara Ruyi ... 😌
Consort Yu's silence during Ruyi's funeral speaks so many volumes. You can just feel and see the heartbreak and agony she's in after losing her closest friend.
"Sister is already dead. I, Keliyete Hailan, still live on but like a body without a soul." This is an excerpt from the original novel in regards to how Hailan felt about Ruyi's death.
Did the Emperor wonder why Ruyi didn’t tell him she was dying? I mean you treat her like dirt for a long time, believe rumours from others with little to no proof given. Then when the truth comes out all you do is say the past is in the past, no apologies, no begging for forgiveness. She went out on her own terms and as sad as it is, she did it her way!
I cried when she died because I felt sad about het knowing that she had a good intention but others misunderstood her goodness. She was like a hero in this drama. I watched this many times and still felt sad the for Ruhi.
This scene always gets me, I've seen the last episode at least 4 times already and I still cry. Its heartbreaking because she's so sincere. When she talks about her past enemies and friends who passed away early on even she feels for them. I honestly wonder what a life they would have all had just like she said had they all survived and there hadn't been any fights in the harem. I also have to say I love Rongpei, she chooses to die alongside Ruyi showing that they were truly very close to one another.
In the end the emperor wanted what he could never have. Like the artist said you can't repaint a moment that was genuine. He seemed happy with what he had In the beginning took it for granted let power and lust go to his head. They both died alone (not with their lover)but she smiled and was contempt the emperor wanted to undo his mistakes and died unhappy. Life gives us little moments that may seem like nothing but in the end it is everything.
This is a very beautiful, cruel drama. I've seen every episode. And cried a lot. I think Ruyi has integrity and a moral compass that not everyone is capable of in that palace. It's win or lose. I think of all the servants and slaves working day and night. A slight mistake can cost their lives. So hardworking. I love that drama. Thank you.
We will no longer be able to understand what a crown seat is worrying. He maybe owned the kingdom hence he has to be extra cautious and suspicious. That's the only way to secure his seat! Although he can't win everything, not her.. This is the lesson she wanted to teach him! Therefore it's a bless to be a commoner!
I think the most beautiful thing about this, to me, is that after her passing, there was no spite in the harem towards her. Everyone truly loved and respected Ruyi and watching the series, if only makes sense. Putting fairness and kindness above all. That was why I loved watching this. 😞
Sigh :( as someone else mentioned in another video - she truly was ahead of her times. loving only one man and being loyal to only one while the man loves many others. Her love over time matured in different ways but his love matured in the sense that he began to yearn for others and took her for granted, and used her as the scapegoat over and over. I'm glad she at least valued her worth at the end. She was a true Empress in my book - sure, to survive the weight of the crown you have to have a certain cunning/smart side to you too, and Ruyi was smart, no doubt. But, she truly never fought back or intentionally harmed someone that was innocent or didn't deserve some sort of retribution. Although her weakness in caring too much or loving too hard worked against her at points, it truly makes her character for me and made me feel along with her. It hurts to see how sweet Hongli and Qingying were in the first half only to take a major downward spiral. The first time I watched this, I blamed Yanwan so much. But, truly, the one at most blame is none other than the emperor. Almost always he believed others over her, despite knowing her character as they grew up together. She was always the easiest to cast away for "the sake of the empire and harem peace". And, even more upsetting, was that he never truly seemed to believe his faults or errors until it was smacked right in front of his face. Even then, he didn't apologize as he should have - was it because he's the emperor? I guess. Truly interesting to see his hypocrisy grow and grow as the years went on. He may have loved her sincerely and truly as someone should in the beginning, but he truly lost his way and not even someone as loyal and fierce as Ruyi could set him straight, nor could the rest of his harem. She is free, and I believe she was able to pass away with less regrets than Hongli ever could because she loved all that she could even as she saw the distance growing. She remained true to her values at the end, and the respect the rest of the harem has for her shows that in magnitude. Emperor and Empress may be no more, but I hope the young Qingying and Hongli are still there in the afterlife.
Ruyi and her hand maiden having tea together was poignantly beautiful. Her saying the names of the other consorts was why I thought her character had a quiet strength and dignified grace. Just shows in the end how simple and uncomplicated our lives could have been, but how often we realize it too late.
The difference between ruyi and her aunt while her aunt wanted to be with the former emperor in the afterlife ruyi wanted to be free. Her aunt committed suicide in front of her. Maybe that's why ruyi chose to cherish herself.
I hate how Rongpei took her own life after Ruyi’s death. 😭 I just know that’s not something Ruyi would’ve wanted for her, but for Rongpei there was no greater honor than to follow her mistress. They honestly remind me of my mother and I. Fiercely loyal and protective of each other.
I think that leaf less bonsai tree of Ruyi, symbolises her own life, and feeling for emperor. In the end it doesn't matter how you water it, care it I'll be the same it is.... Right before her death she just gave a look that bonsai... Lifeless, feeling less after all these struggles she had...
Ruyi died the way she wanted to. In peace. And it was her last stab at the Emperor. I have watched this whole series 3X now...I still see and hear things I didn't the first time.
This is the scene where Zhou Xun’s true acting skills come out. It does not require shouting, crying, any over the top action, but just silently drinking tea reminiscing her life. Without words Zhou Xun could portray Ruyi’s whole live, all her struggles and pain Ruyi went through just by eye and facial expression. Although I do not like how the character does not fight back for herself, Zhou Xun’s this single scene makes up for the entire drama plot for me. There was no better choice for the actress than Zhou Xun. Her biggest lies in simplicity.
Rongpei to Ruyi, “ ----it is fortune for me working with you”, Ruyi to Rongpei, “ You are MY FORTUNE”,my sadness went overdrive. Her death is like payback time. The word FREE is so huge. To master & her servant -- together in death😢
Can I just say, the way in which the women of this era dressed their hair was amazing. So elaborate, beautiful, artistic, and precise. No other culture compares.
When she says that the flowers bloom and dies, it’ll happen. Which means it’s unpredictable and inevitable. She’s saying that she knew her time with the emperor will end in a bad way, not immediately but it’ll happen slowly just like a withering flower
Poor Hailan. Both her son and Ruyi, two of the most important people in her life, have all left her. How will she spend the rest of her life in the palace with a man she doesn't even like.
Ruyi was a true empress. A real class act and beauty. I’m glad she is now free and at a peace. Hope she is reunited with all her children in the afterlife.
When she walks and stop then watched the empire was so amazing scene. You know already that something sad will happened and yet you knew the moment you saw the scene where she died peacefully was the moment where Ruyi was freed. 😭💔❤ She never hated any of the harem. She was bitter towards the emperor yes... and yet you know how much she loves the Emperor. 💔
To me, this is such a beautiful ending. Ruyi gone peacefully after releasing all the burden and separating with her disappointed husband. What a noble death. I would rather she her like this than Zhen Huan aka the previous season main lead- she fought for a high position yet had to live with the man whom she regarded disgusting.
English subtitle here might be mistaken, strictly speak Ruyi’s been deprived her title, however, when Rongpei speaks to her, it was still taking her as the empress, so should still be your Majesty.
It make all sense. In the movie there, we saw what is true happened in the palace during those times than to see an everyday love life and happy ending which is so unrealistic.
Although I cry heavily during this episode and every time I see the clips, I always shed tears when I rewatch this series to see the tenderness Ruyi and the Emperor shared. The nervousness and anticipation during his wife ceremony, when she continually brought him his favorite treats and teas, his excitement when she fell pregnant for the first time. To see it erode over a course of a few seasons when you know the end is bitter. Ruyi loved him fiercely, avenged her Auntie, ran the harem better than first empress, none of this she wanted - but she took it in stride. Tv show or not, an incredibly inspiring character. I’m sure Empress Ula-Nara was as kind as she is being portrayed.
This is probably my favorite C-Drama. The actress was incredible and I hope to see her in many more dramas. I hope she is in another historical drama as a lead she's just. Ugh her acting is so powerful.
This is Zhou Xun we're talking about. She was considered one of the original "Four Great Flowers" - the four greatest and most superb actresses of China's movie industry back in the 2000s and 2010s. Even among the Flowers, her acting was considered to be the most powerful and to have the most depth. She's basically legendary! Most of her works are theaterical movies though. Ruyi's Royal is actually the first TV drama she did in years. You can watch "Painted Skin" and "Painted Skin 2" to see her acting in her prime (she's in her 40s by now, but she's still so good).

The only sad ending in a drama that I’ve truly appreciated. I never rewatch dramas, but I’ve rewatched the last three episodes of this drama several times. The acting is brilliant and the emotions raw and genuine. 💔
This is one of the most compelling emotional scenes I've seen in any show period. This character is truly someone to be remembered . Ruyi, you are an amazing woman. ✨💖🙏💗
Its amazing to see the different nuances brought out by this actress who is portraying the character of empress Ruyi.Kudos to the whole team behind this serial.

Silence drives my husband crazy. 😁. Indeed it is the most powerful weapon.
Exactly
I know I am kind of off topic but do anybody know a good website to watch new movies online ?
Rongpei's love for Ruyi was 1000x's deeper than the emperor's. I need a Rongpei and Ruyi in my life.

I always found it interesting that no one was wailing when Ruyi died like when the other empress died. It was so quiet, they were all so soft spoken, much like Ruyi was in her life. Her voice was always so smooth and gentle, even when she was angry.

They were not allowed to.

I like how she took care of everyone knowing she won't last long, but took everything away from the emperor. Even destroying everything that he may remember her by.
A lot of people are mad that she didn't have any character development like Zhen Huan.
He as a king is not allowed to have much feelings for no mater who ( I guess).
Plus he himself also doesn't have much more choices at all.
The worst thing about Rongpei drinking the tea is that you could see in her face she knew what was happening and just couldn’t stop it. That really sucks.
I had to rewatch it, and it’s real 9:48 she did know what was going to happen, and is sad 😪

Man, I've only seen three of the videos before this and I'm already tearing up for what Ruyi has gone through with her husband and her death. Such a woman of class.
Yes, me too! same everything.
Same here lol. Decided since it’s a three day holiday will binge watch it on Viki.
This is why I watch these show
You can watch the whole series on here with English subtitles and believe me, it is absolutely beautiful, fascinating and completely heartbreaking
@Zee Steele Nowadays, I do not know if there are maids or male servants who are so loyal to their masters like before.
Servants are expected to die /commit suicide after the Masters. Anyone who doesn’t is looked as guilty, disloyal, or cowardly.
Zhijie Lim - what year are you living in? There are no such things as servants anymore. It’s just an assistant job as a maid/butler etc.
I remember during the beginning when ruyi asked the painter why only have one wife and one man forever. And the painter said yes it's that way but if there is no love then the wife can leave the man. I think ruyi remembered that in her heart to make that decision.
Great point
Right?! Rongpei found an anchor and she would have never betrayed her. Ugh friendship to the max 💕
I hope Ruyi and Ronpei spend the rest of eternity forever intertwined.
The thing that really stuck out to me was Ruyi remembering all the old consorts and saying their real names instead of their rank names and wondering what would happen if they were still here. She knows they were human, people beyond their titles. That's what makes Ruyi so beautiful.
❤
Yes, she is the embodiment of empathy
It would be better if they showed the glances of the people Ruyi stated one by one...kind like remembrance for the viewers.

This series almost gave me a heart attack. It was okay but watching evil succeed time and again is not good for the soul.
"Get new tea and switch the pot" mean "find new master and new live" . "the tea is faint" mean "I dont live longer"
When she said that she just stopped a second, she was too weak and going to die
I never knew this, thanks for explaining, gives this scene more depth.
ling hu tear out😭
Definitely a great metaphor I hadn’t picked up on! 👍🏼
But she ducided to kill her own life after then. 😭
I havent watch the whole drama but this scene is so powerful. It made me cry.
She only called Ling’s full name Wei Yanwan, you can see Ruyi doesn’t like her at all and will not forgive her.
@@RavenSutcliffe Liyun was Imperial Noble Consort Chun, and Yihuan was Consort Shu.

The best ending for this drama. The emperor deserved the silent insult from the woman he always claimed he dearly love.
Yes ! This is why shes one of the four actresses

"Red Sorghum - 2014"
And last but not least, her legacy "Painted Skin - 2008, 2 parts"
her eyes really just showed her deep thoughts and sadness
Also when it’s like teary under the moonlight… She look so calm yet so sad

She sees it in her eyes. This has got to be the most heartbreaking drama death I've seen. I'm just glad she died peacefully.
Yes, tragic but beautiful
And it's a long death scene. Usually death scenes are unpleasant, and it's the reason why directors tend to stay away from long death scene. But this one was done well. It was telegraphed thus preparing the audience for Ruyi's death. And it also gives us one last chance to admire Zhou Xun's acting. What an artist!
@@syncmaster915n Well, it wasn’t a slow and painful over dramatic death scene. She was just chatting as usual recalling the past but with less energy.
I think she was sad reminiscing to the past and on all what had happened. However i think she left with a peaceful mind and heart after saying it.
Good that she die in her terms, not for order of the emperor,he always had excuse to kill people. Becouse her refusal to him,she could send to die.
The emperor treated the one woman who sincerely loved him miserably. He abused her, never stood up for her. She was the light he snuffed out. I hope he yearned for her every moment of his life.
No, he tried to snuff her out but she was too bright and good for him.
She was the 2nd woman that refused everything that came from him,she show him that she was better than him, she probe the crimes that she was accused, she never killed a innocent person like her sister did, people outside the palace were very upset for the funeral of Rhuy.

The emperor didn’t appreciate all Ruyi did for him until it was too late.
Do you remember Rongpei if the Empress loved the Emperor before she died ? The Empress said she didn't love him . She grew out of love for him because he didn't trust Ruyi and he treated Ruyi like trash 🗑️ . Who would want to love someone like him . Deadbeat !

"Your Highness, you endured too bitterly in this palace" the way Rongxie said that ,you heared her voice and saw her eyes are in Pain😢😭
Same bro ;-;
Ruyi distraught was knowing emperor distrust on her grew and if emperor would just trust her a bit more all the tragedy would not have happened
What Ruyi said was really true: "Flowers bloom and flowers fall. There's timing to them."
Thank you.
The best revenge is left him nothing.. Not a single word..
I agree, she left him with nothing which is what he deserved he was left with loneliness and regret and they are cold bedfellows
Honeyglow Butterfly that’s what I really loved about it as well. She was respected by so many even though they all were fighting for favor
She was meant to be a great mother and wife, but one man ruined everything, and now he will face the abyss of pain that he made for himself.
I rather found Yanwan sympathetic. The treatment she received at the beginning created the monster she eventually became.
如懿到最後,都還是惦記著永璜的,哪怕永璜之前拿她來算計。如懿真心的愛著那個不是自己親生的兒子。
Ruyi and her hand maiden having tea together was poignantly beautiful. Her saying the names of the other consorts was why I thought her character had a quiet strength and dignified grace. Just shows in the end how simple and uncomplicated our lives could have been, but how often we realize it too late.
The difference between ruyi and her aunt while her aunt wanted to be with the former emperor in the afterlife ruyi wanted to be free. Her aunt committed suicide in front of her. Maybe that's why ruyi chose to cherish herself.
It was the Empress Dowager who made Ruyi's aunty to commit suicide ! Ruyi's aunt had no choice .
Emperor mother is the one who kill her untie becouse she was love from the emperor the mother never perdon that!

I would rather she her like this than Zhen Huan aka the previous season main lead- she fought for a high position yet had to live with the man whom she regarded disgusting.
I feel her pain n sorrow 😭😭😭
Sad she passed away but not depressing because she did so peacefully.
@@caoduynguyenvuong3016 Oh I will definitely watch those thank you! I really love her acting style she was just so graceful and sincere as Ruyi! It is a well-deserved title indeed.
She's great. Just google Zhou Xun and you won't be disappointed by her other shows.
@@caoduynguyenvuong3016 she's breath-taking in Painted Skin. Though bear in mind it's quite an old show so some of the effects aren't that great anymore.
Cao Duy Nguyễn Vương she’s absolutely the best! She needs more accolades. 💯
The acting by Ruyi and Rongpei in this last scene of them both was superb. Ruyi as always every inch an Empress and Rongpei was such a faithful servant and friend of the Empress. I have watched this many times and still find it so moving.
如意做得好就不用說👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
但她實在太貪靚了,一點也不老...
容配也做得好好💗那眼淚盈眶的樣子多麼不捨!
容这个演員演的真不错
This drama had the best ending I've ever seen. I don't think it can be topped. The humanity and the emotion is incredible
Louisa - Yeah, many people preferred it to end when she became empress with out her downfall but as sad as it was, I loved it all.
The only sad ending in a drama that I’ve truly appreciated. I never rewatch dramas, but I’ve rewatched the last three episodes of this drama several times. The acting is brilliant and the emotions raw and genuine. 💔
Do you know what happened to hailan after ruyi died?
This is one of the only deaths that made me cry because she was one of the most respectable
Rong pei, the faithful servant chose the honorable path of pursuing her mistress eternally.
i love how at some point when they were talking there was no background music and it suddenly hit differently 😭
That silence made it more meaningful and gave us the moment to assimilate that feeling . Great direction .
Wishing that Ruyi, Rongpei and Yunche met in modern times and lived happily together :(
“It’s NEVER your TURN to say a thing here!!! Amen, Amen, and Amen
容佩也演得非常好
My heart aches for her but on the other hand, I am glad that she can finally have her peace.
Ok why was this in my recommendations and why am I on my 6th video??!
Lol same here 😂
@@shavellsamuels2079 I’m addicted now. Need to find the series and watch it 😂😂
Same
Lol..me too.
@@tmc6413 same 😬😅
This scene made me cry all the time!😭😭 Ruyi was a true empress.
看一次哭一次,周迅演技太好了😭😭😭
This is such a delicately and sensitively written story....and the performances are so good.
The actress for ruyi is soooo beautiful I love her.
When the other concubine said "you should enjoy your life now" 😭😭😭
😭😭😭
每次看最后这儿,墙头马上遥相望,一见知君即断肠,真的百感交集。
I'm glad the emperor lived to regret how he treated Ruyi. And that Empress Dowager didn't let him off the hook.
The best Chinese series I have ever seen so rich and sad story
Chinese historical dramas have always been pretty good. There are many other good ones.
The bonds between women, between soul sisters will always be stronger than any man.
This is one of the most compelling emotional scenes I've seen in any show period. This character is truly someone to be remembered . Ruyi, you are an amazing woman. ✨💖🙏💗
Such a loyal servant! Trusted an cherished.
Its amazing to see the different nuances brought out by this actress who is portraying the character of empress Ruyi.Kudos to the whole team behind this serial.
Poor Sanbao tho ;-; every one of his friends is gone- Suoxin is married to Physician Jiang, Ling Yunche, the empress, Rongpei are dead, and Li Yu is not by his side... :(
