We run a teardrop and our only "room" is a 10x10 EZ Up over the back of it. So I had a local marine upholsterer make me two screens 9 1/2x9 1/2 out of the same vinyl screening as on your room. Not only does it knock a wind down to a breeze, they will keep rain out and provide excellent sun screening. That is good material for the purpose. Ours have been across Canada and up into the far north (Arctic Ocean!) and have definitely proven themselves.
As usual a great product review. I like the colour and material type that allows light and some air movement. And yes the zippers are a long term concern. Try getting a replacement zipper...
I would invest in a clam shell. I believe they would be a lot sturdier and last longer. You have a better selection as well. It is an absolute must in Canada and Alaska.
Thanks for this! My wife & I have been looking at stand-alone screen enclosures, (good friends of ours have one, and it's pretty nice!) Thing is, we could buy about five of those enclosures for the price of this one!! I think we'll take a pass on this one for the awning!!
also if u use a twin tub spinner washer in your rv then u could dry the clothes on a rack in the screen room without being seen from the rv park lane. no need to go to laundromat,
Nobody knows yet, but we have already decided to stay the winter in BC versus traveling south this year. Had to make a decision early as all the campsites usually fill quickly with Canadian snowbirds that don't normally go south and this year there will be a ton more looking for a place. Cheers, Ray
2 questions : 1) what do you think about supports on the ends of the roller staked down to help against the wind? 2) we bent one of the pieces of our electric awning with just one burst of wind, do they make separate pieces, or do I have to replace the whole mechanism ?
I often will use a 7 gallon jug of water connected to a ratchet strap looped over the awning roller end when its windy to help keep it from bellowing up. Ratchet strap makes it easy to adjust the tension. But if the wind really picks up I roll it back in. Having the strap and the water jug makes it quick and I don't have to worry about staking into ground. Sorry not sure about parts as I've never looked for them. Maybe a RV used wrecker would be an idea as I bet they get lots of stuff like that. Cheers, Ray
Do you think of your new awning that you got. Do you think it is a little bit thicker than the original or thinner material. Time for me to replace my awning and I was looking at the ones that you just got from the same company I just didn’t know I didn’t hear invaders see if I actually got one. So let me know what you think of that awning appreciate your time and all your videos hope to see you and Calif in the desert this coming year we will be out that way.
It says 13.5 oz vinyl but seems thinner to me than the old Dometic fabric but maybe that's because the old fabric was starting to dry put and separate. Cheers, Ray
Check the awning manual, I'm sure most must have a way to disable the wind sensor. Even so, I doubt the awning motor has enough torque to damage the screen room, likely just stall. Cheers, Ray
Won't be using as much when snowbird traveling as winter days are much shorter and we move from location to location more. I could see it if we stopped in a crowded park for a bit to get some privacy and maybe use the front screen when boondocking to help with cooling if hot. But have to be extra careful in the desert as winds can come out of nowhere!
So far not too bad though I have broken a few teeth in one section. You have to be pretty careful with it. Wish it was a little beefier like my wife's boat vinyl covers, wider with much larger teeth. I guess because vinyl tends to expand and contract with temperature so sometimes it's a really tight fit, you need a really tough durable zipper. Cheers, Ray
@@LoveYourRV How are you finding the brackets holding up that were attached to the RV? I'm debating if the three screws are sufficient or to use some sort of mollies. I'm pretty sure that there is no stud where I have to locate it. Thanks for your response to my previous comments
We've been looking at these as some of the area's we get into are right full of bugs, Some seem to have a mesh to go along the bottom of the trailer but can't tell on this one. Does it have it?
Yes, The kit also contains extra mesh panels to be used as bottom skirting on the RV to stop bugs from getting in from underneath. The panels are clipped in place via plastic snaps that mount to the RV with 3M VHB tape. Here is the original install video where I showed it, but didn't install becasue we don't get many bugs where we are. Also here was and update video I did after the summer season was over - www.loveyourrv.com/lci-rv-product-review-updates-sneak-peek-at-next-install/ Cheers, Ray
The snaps for the inside skirt are a joke, sure they hold the skirt up, but do not seal the bugs out. I changed it to a long piece of Velcro that matches the color of the plastic rock guard bottom. Seals perfectly now. The inside curtains take two people to roll up because they are too wide to roll up with one person. I fixed that issue by attaching 1/2” pvc to the bottom with three strips of Velcro, one side flat on the curtain, the other, rolled around the pipe. Makes rolling up the curtain much smoother, and can easily be done with one person. When packing it up, the pvc pipe is easily removed. The top edge of the screen room has Velcro on the room, but no matching Velcro sent to attach to the canopy. Also the side wall has large gaps against the rv wall. Figuring out a way to low profile seal that area. Build quality seems good, just not well engineered.

Your reviews are always helpful because they are very detailed and you seem to give sufficient time for usage to give fair review.
I like the screen, really like that river view too
I was worried about the wind. Glad you covered that.
Thanks for the review. Looking for a screen room for our Kitties.
That looks like an amazing upgrade!
Been looking for something like that! Awsome review! For the prices of other options would like to see any updates asap. Thanks for sharing!!
Very nice review, thankyou! Ive said it before, you do very good thorough reviews!
Thanks. :)

Thanks for sharing Ray. Like #439. Stay safe!
I have the same awning on my 31sqb and breaking the awning is my concern, as it is just not strong enough to keep extended on windy days.
BTW, if you have fold up steps, the skirt will not work with those folded out. If you have the detachable steps, it will work with those.
Anne approved!👍

Any word on when they might open the border?
What are you planning on doing if they don't?

I was wondering what you guys had decided to do this winter as well.

What happens if your awning has a wind sensor and retracts while the screen is up?

Do you see yourself using this when you are snowbirding in the winter in 70 degree temps? Or primarily hotter temps?

Those actually look like Sail Zippers. I think you have probably found them quite durable.

No problems with them, still firmly attached

What if you don't have electric awning
I bet it will work better with a manual awing since they are more sturdy and can handle more downward forces. Power awnings are kind of wimpy.
