Well it's good to know that muriatic acid doesn't dissolve the crystals in I didn't realize that they would brighten up that much. We find what we call moonstones which are basically polished agates but sometimes they'll have minerals attached at the same so I always wondered a good way to clean them up. Also if I remember right muriatic acid doesn't dissolve gold so anything in the mineral remnants can be recovered
I would test a piece of it before soaking all your specimens. I know that it will dissolve calcite crystals. I just use it for quartz and agates.
What about pre-soaking in an ultrasonic, I bet it would get everything loosened up good.
I have seen people do that, it works great!

I have a question, I soaked some crystals in iron out but I got sick and they sat in it for like 3 days and now they are stained super orange. I’ve used baking soda on them and it helped, but they are still really stained. What would you suggest I do?
@@TerriMason-ll1wk I only do a few crystals at a time using Iron out and only over night. I have ruined some in the past. The whole bottom layer turned black. That is why I use muriatic acid now.
@@QuartzCowboy ah shoot. So would you say they are ruined or would miriatic acid help at this point?
@@TerriMason-ll1wk I would try the muriatic for sure. Make sure you do it outside!
