don't be afraid to make things "girly" for your son! one thing I was grateful for while growing up was the neutrality of clothing or toys I had, as it stopped some kinds of biases in me... if you want to knit up a delicate cardigan, knit up a delicate cardigan! best of luck to you and your baby
gives em something to be embarrassed about when their partner eventually comes over and looks at baby photos. either that or they grow up not minding wearing more fem/masc clothes and aren't put in a box of what they can wear. win-win situation.
I'm also knitting for baby right now and I was tickled by how many of the patterns you list that I've either finished or bookmarked. The Bear hat turned our super cute and I think it would be easily modified for other animals.

Talking about onesie's, it was actually pretty easy for us to put them on until 6-7 months, when our daughter started crawling... then the moving around and not wanting to hold still started.
I just finished the "clean & simple baby dress" as a gift for friends! It was a great pattern and I had never done linen stitch, so I really enjoyed it. Now to find the buttons to match :)

I have three granddaughters (8mos, 2 &4). Just wanted to send support and encouragement for that cute sausage dog draught stopper. I made a striped draught stopper for my door, nothing fancy, just used up some scraps…and they all LOVE playing with it! Make it 👍

the purl soho soft cotton washcloths are such a joy to knit!! they’re a super good way to learn linen stitch (I didn’t know it before I made these) and they’re also a great stash buster if you have random single skeins of cotton lying around! :-)

I store my yarn in an old repurposed metal locker that I got from a past job, and you've inspired me to pick up some magnetic clips so I can hang mine from the side! Maybe it will even encourage me to swatch more often ;)

I highly recommend seeing if you can find some knitted gown patterns for baby! For my boys as newborns they always wore those super long gowns & all you have to do is pull them up to change them they’re amaaaazziingggg & would be so cute & easy to knit

I just moved to the Netherlands where my aunt and uncle with their two babies live. I'm already working on the Baby Fox Onesie by Drops in Holst Coast, but I have so many more baby patterns planned for fall!
I made the bearly bonnet and it's so CUTE! A bit fiddley to sew the ears on and I opted to knit it in the round but it is such a nice stash buster project

Such a fun video! I'm 20 weeks pregnant now with our little girl and just finished the clean and simple baby dress and loved knitting it up. I'm due in November which will be just before our Australian summer, so that will be perfect! It might end up being her first Christmas outfit.

I've seen the purl soho octopus a while ago but now maybe have an excuse to try. Or any number of baby things. Too, too sweet.
I knit a lot of drops patterns, and most of the ones you have on this list, I have actually recently knitted up or I am in the process of knitting them up! In regards to drops sky (I am making the Sweet Gleam cardigan), it is not a yarn I would purchase again! It is a wool, alpaca and polyamide blend, very soft, but it constantly snags on my needles, and it is very stretchy so I find it difficult to have even tension, which is not something I usually struggle with. I do think my baby will be very comfortable in the cardigan when it is done, since it is very soft.

I really recommend Animal Friends of Pica Pau for toys patterns. It is not free but the patterns are sooo so cute and the designer is amazing!

Really enjoy your calm manner and am drawn to the same color palette and style aesthetic that you have so it's been quite inspirational, and getting me all excited to start knitting baby things again! They're my very favorite thing to make and put on my babies! :) so sweet! you mentioned cardigans and I just had to mention that my very favorite thing I've made all my babies and made as gifts countless times is the newborn Vertebrae, which is free on Ravelry. It's seriously just the best newborn knit item ever! :D

im like 18 and dont plan to have a child but that octopus plushie looks like something i would want to make
Because of skin sensitivity with babies I would really stick mostly to plant based yarns wool can be very irritating for an adult although super wash is much softer. (My brother was allergic to wool growing up so I’m weary)

Just wanna put this out there; Drops have been caught stealing small designers stuff to put out for free as their own. I see a lot of aspiring knitwear designers recomending them and it baffles me.
I couldn't finish this video because it bothered me so much how set in "for boys" and "for girls" you are. There's nothing wrong with boys wearing pink or florals or a cardigan with a lace motif.
please dont impose strong gender norms on your son as he grows up- its not going to do him or anyone else any good. i'd be proud of seeing you break down some of the norms you have internalised from your life so far.
Why are we still gendering clothes? Especially for babies? I guarantee you the kid won’t care. It’s your choice. But I don’t think it’s necessary to keep pushing these gender roles to the next generations. They don’t need that. But again it’s your choice. I just don’t get why you would limit your kid
I’m thinking the sausage dog is to prevent a draft in the crib. It’s looks a lot like a (sengerand = danish) a “bed frame” that is a pillow type thing to put on the indside the crib to prevent a draft and baby putting arms and legs through the cribs sides ☺️
