My absolute favorite artist of all time! I will never forget my trip to Utila when I saw that the sand was hidden by 6 inches high and three football fields long of plastic. Flip flops, straws, plastic forks and spoons, toothbrushes, and water bottles consumed a once beautiful beach to an array of plastic. Sadly I could only imagine the destruction to the sea life. I will never forget emailing Benjamin to thank him in regards to the awareness through the mermaid photography - he answered and it simply made my day. Benjamin - your work is incredible!
My cuz met you at this installation. Said it’s even more amazing in person! Getting to see the exhibit? I am happy for him😁. Meeting one of my creative heroes without me...🤨
Nice video. The installation looks great! I'm hoping that technology will help to counter the issue. It looks like Starbucks is working on special lids and straw materials. Maybe they would be wise to make patents on whatever ends up working freely available so it's easier to adopt.
when see the #Strawpocalypse in vietnam near my house ! i hope come to see you ! i saw a lot of your videos, you are my idol ! but i have go to working ... so missed to see #Strawpocalypse .. hope see you one more time in vietnam
No one from "Artists" mentioned that the parting of the sea idea came from the Holy Bible, it's when Moises split the red sea. Check Exodus 14:21-29. Anyway, it's a great artpiece.
This idea is beautiful and I love the eco-friendly message but the focus on plastic straws is really quite ablest. Plastic straws are quite necessary for a lot of disabled people and the alternatives available just aren't suitable. Before I get in the replies, "What about this alternative?" Etc, please don't fight me on this because I don't have the emotional energy for a debate. Chronic illnesses will do that to you. Instead, please do your own research. I assure you, disposable plastic straws are often the safest or only option for a lot of disabled people.
@@Vonwong Thank you for taking the time to read (and reply to) my comment and thank you for the apology. I hope you can move forward with a more inclusive mindset for your next piece?

The art piece was incredible! But was it kept after being exhibited?
I love it 😍
Ask the NGV in Melbourne or Blender Gallery Melbourne Australia...it would be so cool to have the installation there
Great Work!
Did this finally get a home?
Thanks you for sending another clear message to the world!

Suknjaja moj dobar drugar. Kad budeš milioner seti se mene ponekad, pošalji čokoladu iz Evrope!
I want the straws! Do you still have them?

I hear you and am sorry for not being more inclusive on this one. :(
