I ordered some seeds 1 week ago. Hopefully they will arrive soon (and they are still valid), were a "simple" Truncata x and a more complex eymae seed pod
I have tried several batches of seeds from 2 different sources ( one is a great seller of nepentes plants ) but after 8 months still 0 seedlings. And yes, they were nepenthes seeds. I hope to succees one day.
I bought two seed pods from Carnivero during a sale a while ago and counted about 5 viable looking embryos total between them. They did include a warning that those crosses were untested, but I have to admit it was a little disappointing. They were [(Rokko x boschiana) x veitchii "Orange Fade"] #1 x [(maxima x campanulata) x platychila ] and maxima X x (Song of Melancholy x clipeata) Two of the rokko x boschiana x veitchii x maxima x campanula x platychila germinated and are doing well these days.
I tend to see it in a different way: I bought a seedpod for $50 and I only got 5 seedlings... But in 3 years, these seedlings will have a value of $150. I'll sell 2 seedlings, so I got my money back + enough money to buy another seedpod :)
Thanks very much. You and I I believe started our Carnivero seeds at roughly the same time. I only recently started feeding mine(3 weeks ago) so that might explain the size difference. Yours are a bit ahead of mine. Do you repot into your standard mix or do you stay with milled LFS for now? Love your videos Remy and I hope the tent is working well for you.
great video Remy! i had a question, would a seedling heat mat speed up the growing process? and is it recommended? i can’t wait to try growing nepenthes from seed! 🎉
I'm not sure about the heat mat for nepenthes. For temperate species like Dionaea or Sarracenia, the heat mimic spring so that helps. But for tropical species like Nepenthes, I don't think I would use that.
This time last year I ordered a whole bunch of seeds (like €200 worth) from CZ plants (all pure species that should do well in a windowsill), but after a year of waiting (advice from the ICPS), nothing came up. I suspect that it is something I did myself, since I've also tried to germinate seeds of Mexican Pinguicula from CZ plants and eBay, and nothing has come up for me. I feel like it was too cold for the seeds. It's around 20-21C in my house, most of the time, so they didn't germinate. I'll get a heat mat and try again. I think they just need a small boost to germinate in my house.

hey i have a question, iv had some nepenthes for a long time and they have started to grow to the ceiling is there something I can do to make them small again or compact?
Always keen to see these updates 👌🏻 good to see growth in a way that’s easier to see than just staring at your plant like “I think it’s grown?”
I never feel like my plants are growing until i look back at pictures of how small they used to be! 😂
neat video! im glad im not the only one who grows droseras as a pest control measure, they truly are unmatched for fungus gnat control
Yes, I'm finding it quite effective for now 🙂

Hello,
You can use neem cake to kill fungus knats. Hope all your seedlings grow healthy.
I didn't know about "neem cake", thanks for the info
Remy, how exactly did you separate these? I know you were growing in milled LFS; did you just pick them out and pot them up?
Yes, gently unroot them. Like in this video: ua-cam.com/video/FuAGv7pKt-w/v-deo.htmlsi=tnkgyR27H3SYklvw

@@hughbussey5234 Right now, they are all in regular media: sphagnum/perlite.

Sehr schön😊 habe mir auch 10 verschiedene Kreuzungen bestellt;) wachsen sehr gut, kann auch bald umtopfen👍
What did you order? What's the fastest species or cross growing for you?

Beside cutting the main vine and hoping it grow a basal shot or activate a dormant node, there is nothing you can do. They're vines.
You should fertilize your seedlings
I do once a week but I'm afraid of fertilizing too much the algae overgrow the seedlings. Do you fertilize a lot?
