Could you the me what difference between the unaspirated t and d sound is? They sound same to me. For example, the word stay sounds like / sdeɪ/. Also the unaspirated p and b sound , the unaspirated k and g sound . Apple sounds like /ˈæbl /, joker sounds like /ˈdʒoʊgər /. I don't know how to prounce the unaspirated p t k in these situations . Thank you for your help, sir . By the way , I only can prounce unaspirated p t k at the end of words. such as keep beat like.
Try to exaggerate the aspiration and you will perceive a difference. You can say "p-H-en" or "p-H-arlor" and it sounds fine, maybe as if you were shouting. You cannot say "happ-H-y" without it sounding off.
I have seen a few people comment on the sound level. As a person who had a problem of sound level in recording, I know it hurts in the long run. Your view count at this stage is not very high. You may want to publish them again with improved sound level. For the past two years I got interested in voice, language processing etc because the low sound in my recordings got me criticism and I got exploring a lot on those. I stopped after about 50 videos ten years ago and am yet to resume my activities again.
Hiii I would ask you two questions :) 1) Are English [ p t k ] unaspirated in unstressed syllables, even if they are at the beginning of words? for example the words (toMAto) and (techNIQUE)? 2)do you think english [ p t k ] in unstressed syllables, sound like spanish [ p t k ]? or should I think that those consonants in english, have always a weaker aspiration in unstressed syllables?
Hello, it's very interresting thank you. Howewer, you forgot to mention when /p/, /t/ and /k/ are after a "s" the sound become /b/, /d/ and /g/. So, ski /ski/ =>/sgi/, speech /spiːtʃ/ => /sbiːtʃ/ etc : )
Hi again. As I said in my last comment, I appreciate quite a lot your videos but please try to correct the audio level. I'm going to easily prove that what I'm saying is true because I don't want you simply think it's a personal appreciation so I randomly picked a video from my subscriptions list, this one for instance ua-cam.com/video/lbNF8k-gFeY/v-deo.html By the way, I could have chosen any other video and all of them have an audio level that is substantially higher than yours. But don't take my word for it, you can easily use a dB meter app to try and compare the average audio levels of the two videos and you will easily realize what I mean. The fact is that using only my phone without an USB speaker, I have big difficulties to understand you and it's a shame because I am a Spanish spoken person that is struggling with the English pronunciation and there's no other channel out there that explains this matter so clearly as yours.
I have had my share of problems both as a recorder and a listener. Given the effort it takes to produce a video, some times when we have gone on to produce a lot of videos before serious feedbacks come to suggest improvement, it becomes too late. I suggest viewers can use other means to enhance the sound level. I guess head phones provide one solution. VLC media player can also help boost sound levels when you find it a problem.

The second sound in 'stay' is /t/, not /d/.
why is the p in happy not aspirated? I can feel a puff of air when I say it

Thanks for this. I'll keep that in mind; and hopefully things have been improving in my more recent videos.

Hi again,
Thanks for your feedback.
I'll be working on this.
