Rock solid. So very few of them if any needed replacement due to normal use.

Got an old carbureted one. Looks pretty solid - only thing I don't like is, the intake and exhaust manifolds are too close together, too much heat transfer.

In China, we have the h100 hiaces still being produced, some with 4y engines

When I started in the industry engines seen were Continental, Moline, Hercules. Rebuilding or reconditioning engines was something that a lot of revenue for us. I can't remember any 4Y engines being part of that.

You can purchase the engine from Toyota, though a local dealer. As far as the application I couldn't say. That is an amazing engine.
