    I just ordered an Dig-uno and want to run 8m of WS8211 nice to know it can run directly via the board! Cant wait to hook it up!

    The 30 foot section worked great preinstalled in the diffuser on the workbench but when I installed it on the playroom ceiling BOOM! The leds Blinked uncontrollably & not all of them lit up. While troubleshooting I learned 2 things: 1. The data signal is weak beyond 25 feet and needs to be boosted. 2. When you use multiple large power supplies for power injection the 5 volt ground needs to be common. My solution was to: 1. Purchase the Quin Data Booster (they’re inexpensive so I bought 6 for future projects). 2. Common ground the 5 volt output. With this everything works great. The DigQuad has been awesome, I used it to test each section as I build them and it’s been flawless. I chose 5 volt 60 LEDs/meter because I am a newbie idiot. If I could do it over I’d go with a 12 volt system and not have to worry about power injection.

    Dig 2 go is also good for storm power outages. plug a battery pack into the dig2 and your LEDs provide light in the dark.

    At present, for all my projects I am using quads with ae+, as they cover all my crazy ideas..
    Got some dig2go as well for when the extended family wants a cheap lightshow somewhere.
    You must be fairly proud knowing your boards are being used around the world (Australia here)

    Could you show us how to use the pins for sensors that are built onto the DigQuad. I'm asking because I have some props with moving parts that are just a motor that needs power.

    Would one of these boards be good for this project?I have never really worked with any type of microcontrollers or LED strips. But I have a project i want to try and also learn along the way. This probably isn't a great beginner project, but it solves a need for me. The project summary is, i have a 22' travel trailer and a tow vehicle with a 7 pin trailer connector. I want 16' to 20' of RGBW LED strips running underneath both the right and left side. The microcontroller would have 4 inputs (brake, reverse, right blinker, left blinker). Brake would light both strips in red, reverse would light both strips in white, and the blinkers would be in amber. I only want to use the power from the vehicle as a trigger, and the power for the microcontroller would come from the 12 supply on the travel trailer. I would also like a remote to control the LED's when not connected to the tow vehicle. Also, wifi and internet will not be available. What considerations should i consider? And what products might work best for this project? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

    I love your video and products. I just purchased some 'Lepro E1 AI Permanent Outdoor Lights' and they claim to be WLED Compatible. My question is which of your controllers are compatible to operation them.

      Looks like they have dual ws2811 inside, although ws2811 can be controlled I'm quite so sure about a dual configuration like that, stuff in WLED code would need to be adjusted.

    All of your stuff is awesome man, keep up the great work! I'm just delving into the WLED world and I'm very glad to have stumbled across your creations. Is it fairly easy to connect PIR sensors to the Dig2Go? I want some motion activated under bed lighting. I was originally going to get a DigQuad and run two different 12v 5m RGBW strips, with two PIR sensors, so each side of the bed is independent. After finding the Dig2Go kits though, I might just get two of those and connect PIR's if it's still possible. I don't need them to be crazy bright so 5v should be totally fine. Thanks!

      Yeah dig2go could be great in those spots! Connecting motion sensor should be pretty easy using the available pins!

    G'day from Austraila. Great information @Intermit.Tech ! Thanks. As a total newbie to this stuff could I ask for your advicel using your products (dig-uno?) to set up a light strip (or two connected) with 2 PIR sensors? I want to create lighting for stairs where the stairs switch back on themselves (ie start going up one direction, turn 180 degrees at the half way mark and continue ) and have two stair rails. I want to set up a light strip that actuates from the top of the stairs for one rail and a strip that actuates from the bottom of the stairs for the other stair rail. I am wondering if this could be done from a single controller with 2 PIR sensors. The LEDs will be hidden under the railing, and my budget on a first project will probably lean towards your smaller dig uno.
    Could you provide any advice? Thank you.

    This looks like an awesome compact power distribution solution. I'm still trying to learn about programmable LEDs and arduino and how it all connects. I want to DIY a turn-signal and brake-signal setup for my E-Bike, would your board allow me to custom program how the lights animate? Or do I need to get an arduino board and also attach that to your board? Thanks!

    I may have asked you a while ago but I forget if you replied. Is there a reason why you didn't go with a smaller mini fuse or even low-profile mini? The ATO/ATC form factor is pretty big so you could probably save a bunch of room?

      In part there is heat, these fuse holders as they are already heat up a fair amount with a 10A fuse in there. There is only one spot where I use them with a higher number and that's on the Dig-Octa input stage but there I have lots of heatsinking basically to allow for that.
      That said, you can actually use the mini and the micro form factor in this holder too that way you can use the USB-C on the Dig-Uno for instance!
      Second is that the terminals mainly dictate form factor so going with a smaller fuse and fuse holder won't really change it that much.

    This is very helpful. Thank you so much for creating these great products. One quick question, can I fit the AE IR+ Mic to the Dig-Quad that is enclosed in the acrylic case?

      the external antenna should be fine, you'll need a hole to feed the wire to the board but the IR? I think its touch and go depending on the case, clear maybe, opaque your guess is as good as mine, suck it and see 😆try using your tv remote behind the acrylic from a similar distance, might save you buying one to find it doesn't work. let us know how you get on.

    Have you given any thought for a dig2go-12v ?
    I'm looking to build a low-glo for my car and want to power it from the car. I only need about 5m, so the dig2go would be perfect, except for the 5v power

    Fantastic video. Awesome overview and explanation of all of the Dig board options!
    As I am about to order my LEDs, power supplies, and cables (already had a DigQuad) to start my Christmas light journey, I am going to need some help on the decision between 5v and 12v as the more I look the more fuzzy it has become. Keep up the great work.

    Just bought my first Quad and already planning to buy another 12 😐 In this video you mention 12v and 24v LED strips go roughly 10m which was a surprise to me I presumed 24v would go further? I had planned to buy some 24s presuming they might hold up better for longer runs.

      Regarding 24v, I believe that might be more in relation to the Dig-Uno. 24v LED strip does indeed require less LED strip but it's unlimited length in that sense.     for my last christmas setup i have used two digquad boards,this year i have bought the digocta brain with power 7hc just because there is an sd card,but i think that using 2 or 3 digquad boards its more convenient,or i'm wrong?i want to mention that i always connect the boards trough eth connection

    I would like to use an Uno to run WLED on a 150'/108 ws2812 LED run of Govee permanent outdoor lights. The lights are powered by a 36 V 2 amp power supply. Distance from controller to lights is approximately 10'. Is this possible?

    Are any of the boards capable of using a FM transmitter or would I need to get a Pi to talk to the transmitter and Dig board?

      None of my Dig boards have audio out capabilities so you'll need something else for that. But having a Pi with FPP and sending out DDP data from it to a Dig board (over Ethernet) works great!

    If I were to run a whole home, set up to include ceilings, windows, countertops, baseboards, stairwells, etc. do any of these boards work in that situation where are you would all be in a central server room then data and power wire would be ran to each location in zero

      Although the boards are adapted as well as possible to have longer length data wires they aren't designed for that use case itself. I am working on some extra add-on solutions which will enable data wires up to 500m and having a bunch of them together, that would be much more suited for the situation described.
      Please note that digital lighting generally can't be used as a primary lighting source! The quality of the white light generally just isn't there. But with some dig2analog boards you could add some high CRI95 Analog strips to an otherwise digital setup.

    Hello! I want to use a board to just set up a disco LEd strips. The only use im going to get out of them is art net function. Ive been using esp wireless boards. but i want to use a controller that has network. Whats the best way to do it?

      Well my Dig-Uno and Dig-Quad can be bought with an Ethernet option and the Dig-Octa comes with it always included. So it's really up to you what features you need which board would be best suited for your application.

    What are those crimp connectors you are using at 16:55? I've tried bare wire and tinned wire in the screw terminals and am not happy with either.

    What are the 24v tolerancess? On a 24v automotive system (24-28v) would I need to regulate to 24v?

      Yes, my current boards will work up to about 26v and after that some components might start dying, 28v is certainly too high!

    If I wanted to run 75 feet of quality addressable rgb or rgbw lights around the perimeter of a pontoon boat, what type of setup would you recommend?

      Poh, you'd need something at least very mucb waterproof. I think selection of LED strip would be most crucial in that sense. Other then that 75ft is a fairly long length but managble, especially with 24v strip. Take a look at my 24v COB comparison, there is one there.

      Huh? Where you on my Discord server (can't imagine it went that way or at least I didn't see it) or the WLED general one (although they are usually quite friendly too).
      So multiple data channels by default act like one giant strip internally for WLED. You can chop them up into segments the same as the outputs are defined or any other way you choose. So for example if you are using 1 channel you can chop it up in 5 segments if want or if you are using 4 data channels you can use it was 2 segments or 12 or well, whatever you want.

      Your products have given me everything I've been wanting over a 15 year journey through bad controller after bad controller, so I don't mind donating for a question, it's worth it for the joy you've helped bring to my mother and her garden, my Niece and her bedroom and of course myself.

    Hi intermit tech 😊,
    I have the Pautix COB LEDs I am going to use 4 to 5 strips they are 16.4 ft strips but I have notice they do not work right and I believe I narrowed down to data degradation and I thought all I needed was more power injection point but I feel that I just need to add like 4-5 data boosters to each end of the strips, I am right to assume that?

      It depends, how long are the wires between them? Normally you shouldn't need a Data-booster but you can certainly see if it solves the problem!

      @@IntermitTech I will have about 8 breaks in the strips the ranges between the strips will vary from 2-4ft to 10-15ft

      2-4ft really shouldn't cause an issue in my opinion, as long as you are running a data + GND wire between the strips. 10ft-15ft might cause an issue though, for those if they do give you a problem add a Data-booster at the end of the strip so before bridging the gap and set it to 33R mode with a 3-wire or 2-wire cable with again data+GND on there (and power if 3-wire) then it should all work out!

    I have one strong of LEDs that's using a 36v power supply. Which product is best? I assume dig-uno but can it handle 36V?

      None of my current Dig boards can directly handle 36v! They are labeled as 5v-24v and should really be used in that range.
      The only board currently compatible with 36v would be the data-booster.
      With it or without there are several ways it can still be hooked up though. But it would require a buck-converter or dual power supplies

      @@IntermitTech thanks! I've continued the 36v straight to the LED string, bypassing the dig-uno. Dig-uno is on its own 5v PS, powers up fine and I can get to WLED, but I can't get these things to turn on. I've tried LED output one and two and no dice. I posted in the discord looking for suggestions lol.

    In the dig2go setting 7:13 , you wrote 3500 mA in the amp limitation but I got a power supply ratted to 3 A? Do you supply new batch with 3.5 A?

      Nah it's mostly that the calculations of WLED are often a bit high. I could also have done 3000mA and then efficient 5v LEDs.

      But novice me still would love some practical examples. Like what type of LED strips would you use for following examples:
      -under cabinet lighting in a kitchen (high cri, but digital or analog? Only whites needed?)
      -wake up light above wardrobe in bedroom (white to warmehite spectrum only? And again dig or analog?)
      -backlighting/mood light behind a tv
      None of the above projects would be more than 3 meters long.

      In the back is a QuinLED Dig-Quad with 2x 12v ws2815 144LEDs/m strip cut in half each for 4 pieces. Those things are all available! My boards on quinled.info and the strips on like Aliexpress including power supply, etc.

      It needs to be 12v and enough Amps. Something around 60w or 5Amps should do.

    Do you need a computer to set it up or can it be done from an iphone. I just ordered one but did not get the cable. I did not get ethernet one.

      Everything can be done from your phone! So you should be able to set it up over wifi using your iPhone!

      You'd have to see if WLED supports that but you can use the Q1-Q4 pins to connect those if they are simple on/off trigger motion sensors, check the pinout guide page for the GPIOs to use. You might need a pull-up or pull-down and the board has unpopulated spots for those depending on the pin!

    Very nice products, but very expensive for Europeans. Unfortunately, I have to pay the same amount for shipping and taxes as for the product itself. I don't mind paying for a good product, but I don't want to sponsor greedy governments.

    EDIT: So it seems that the size of dig2go with LED stripes adds to the shipping cost. I ordered 2 dig2go and the shipping is a reasonable 5$ per item.
    Great boards, but allnet.china wants 20 USD PER ITEM to ship to Europe. Any other options for buyers from Europe?
