2025 AD: 31 about to turn 32. Coming off an AS and a 4th DPOY with no MVP votes and a 2nd team all NBA. Scoring and rebounds are kind of hard to relate as offenses have been much more potent leading to more points and more potential rebounds. AD is in his 13th year and generally speaking a top 15 player if not top 10.
2009 KG: 32 about to turn 33. Coming off an AS, Defensive Player of the Year, and 3rd in MVP voting. Also he was first team All NBA finishing his 14th season in the league.
Age wise KG is one full year older at this point, but production wise he was arguably more valuable at this point. He was by all means much more productive in his career up to this point, much more durable, and over all I'd say he was a top 10 if not top 5 player. And of course as we know what would happen if that trade was made. LeBron would go on to win 4 chips in his career, and KG would never sniff the finals again. Of course Luka at 25 coming off 5 straight all nba 1sts is very comparable to LeBron at age 25. Of course Luka isn't as durable as LeBron but hopefully that doesn't play too much in to this.
And 2025 AD vs 2009 KG is also similar in that KG wasn't the best big man at the time. Duncan was better and more comparable to someone like Jokic at 2025. Also I'd say having a guy like Kobe who was considered #1 Alpha at that time would be comparable to someone like Giannis. And of course I'd say Wemby of today was comparable to Dwight of 2009 who looked like the second coming of Shaq before people realized how soft he was.
History just seems to repeat itself sometimes. Luka just needs some pieces like LeBron got Wade and Bosh. So if Pelinka plays this well, I can see LeBron going to Cavs for someone like Mobley or going to Thunders to Chet. Of course I think those are highly unlikely but 10 days ago, no one could see Luka being a Laker.

I'm not sure you sign Kyrie again even if he doesn't want a trade, because one thing it's shown above all other things, is that Dallas has and never will be willing to pay a superstar, superstar money. Dallas is just a training ground for the big leagues, if somehow they manage to net some guy the rest of the league wants. Dallas only wants superstars on the cheap, you know, like five years after they're already used up, or, when you can no longer expect anymore from them than 80%. Now if a superstar will play for free, like Dirk more or less did, fine, but they simply won't pay big money.

The real question should be asked if anyone believes that Lebron's rep wasn't informed or directly involved. Yeah, I hear all the stuff about him being blindsided and sad that AD is gone, but let's be real here, we are talking about Lebron James. AD getting shipped off has to appear as if Lebron knew nothing about it given the fact that AD is part of Klutch and it would be a horrible look for Lebron. This is big business bringing Luka over to the Lakers and the fact that Lebron won't waive his no-trade clause speaks volumes to me. This deal was likely made a long time ago where Lebron gave his blessings before the season even started.

Luka was a gigantic reason as to why Dallas is even on anyones radars. You don't just trade someone like Luka without getting at least multiple valuable first round picks and a top 10 player (assuming they value luka as a top 5 player)
