I would never have thought of using super glue for this, I was thinking a very thin layer of clear nail polish on the small nub to make it catch better but this works too.
I don't know anything about nail polish but the super glue I use dries really fast but anything that is clear that can tighten up the tolerances of the parts should do the trick
You can also use Future polish if you still have some... or a water based clear polyurethane "which is what Kiki is". Vallejo Reducer "not thinner!" is also highly recommended, its a polyurethane acrylic blend. Really any clear water based acrylic paint will work. But you basically can just use a dropper/pipette to apply a small drop on the crack where the smoke stack meets the joint, spin it around a few time, and let it sit for a few hours, spin it again to crack it loose, then let it sit again for a day. It should be nice and tight after that.
I did something similar but adding a small amount of blue tack around the part you added glue. The tack offers the extra friction without permanent modification.
Honestly I just pulled mine out with no disassembly required, put super glue on the nubs and in the hole, stuck the smokestacks back in, straightened them out, and let them dry. Now they don’t move at ALL. You can still transform him without moving the smokestacks.
I was considering this, but I think giving the smoke stacks the ability to move out of the way of the arm if it's turned around the wrong way could help prevent potential breakage
No need to actually disassemble the shoulder for this - the stacks are so loose in the first place due to being held on by that little nylon collar pinned to them, for the sake of being able to pop off for a child safety drop test. Just give them a little tug and they'll come off more easily than the average ball joint, and the same for going back in once the glue is applied. Superglue doesn't need air to cure, either, just holding onto it and giving it a wiggle every few minutes while you read or watch something else to make sure you didn't put on too much and had it seep into a gap and bind more than you want will work just fine rather than popping them off again. With the number of G1 Optimuses I saw that had broken smokestacks in yard sales/etc. back in the day, even the loose stock configuration with the bare-there second tab to suggest their intended position when not twisted out of the way of bicep rotation is still an improvement, I think.
Well done covered what is needed.. didn't assume and leave out stuff, and not any fluff.. nice job

Nice clear and concise video!
Thank you for the kind words. I like to help
Very instructive. Great video. Til all are one, cheers!
Thank you. I like to help when I can

Awesome
I just completely glued mine in place. They don't NEED to rotate.
I almost did the same but if they took some kind of impact I would rather they still spin. It might save the stacks from steering off.

Yeah pulling it through is an option but I just did not want to add any kind of extra wear forcing it through the shoulder
Who's playing with it that much to where this is a problem? 😂
