    You can tell when people don’t actually watch the Texans but talk about them. Greenard was solid but he’s always injured, has been every year. Was smart not to lock him in long term.

      Thank God you said it. "You could have locked him up long term before he hit free agency for a fraction of the cost". So after his injury hit 2022 season? PFF really drop the ball every time with the Texans.

    Nick is getting high dollar short term players while building depth & talent through the draft as we get closer to CJ making 60+ million. Once the contracts kicks in he’ll be even more selective on high dollar contracts & using drafted players to hopefully become impact starters

      I hope CJ takes a lower salary like 25 million so that we can keep cap space. Hes one of the only qbs that i could actually see doing that based on their character.

      @@SnazzzyGecko CJ, and Will Anderson both will not kill salary caps they know if both take max contact then Texans is an above average team, and will not content for SB yearly. I can see both will start this trend for Texans.

    Bottom 5 in front office? Nick Caserio weathered the storm with Deshaun Watson, sat him out for a whole season in wait for the right deal ended with a historical haul from the Browns and completely turned a last place team into a top AFC team.

    Feel like I've heard them bring up the Texans letting Greenard go every time they talk about the team as if it was a surprising move on their part.
    What you have to understand about Greenard is that he has had a very noticeable injury history in Houston and they may think that he didn't have a much higher ceiling to reach going forward. He's missed almost 20 games in 4 years due to injury related issues and hasn't had the consistency in performance that someone like Danielle Hunter has. Unless Hunter regresses significantly this year, the duo of him and Will Anderson Jr. could be miles better than WAJ and Greenard.
    For a team that can win now if they perform to potential, swapping out Greenard for Hunter was a clear upgrade at that position and I still think Greenard is a good player when healthy.

    Ever since the start of the season, PFF has had some bias against the Texans…. Don’t think they like that a team went from bad to good so quickly 🤷‍♂️

    Lions have to pay a quarterback 40+ Million... They are 2 different teams with 2 different scenarios. Texans would have to be much more careful with their signings if they also had to make sure an aging and paid quarterback had to perform at their highest caliber.

      Was about to type this. The Lions have drafted well and filled out there roster affordably enough that they can get away with overpaying Goff (and St. Brown IMO) for a year or 2. But the Texans still have a 4 year window with Stroud that they can reset and re-evaluate after they've shot their shot.

    In Caserio I Trust. Nick is making smart sound decisions to bring in great talent while NOT mortageing the future, trading "3-1st round picks and $200 million contracts"....if we don't make it in the next few years, the cap space opens up.

    I don’t know why people continue to think they weren’t drafting CJ regardless at 1 or 2. Caserio and DeMeco were not about to hitch their careers to a QB smaller than Kyler Murray. They were always going to draft CJ whether Mills converts that 4th & 2 or not.

Of course money fame and glory are involved but CJ and Demico aren’t denying their savior. This mentality has to be trickling down through the organization. That’s all that matters. I just pray it never wavers. The Texans could come close to winning all of it for the next 10+ years but as long as they set examples and stayed true to God for our kids then that’s a win beyond all wins.

    1. I would not say Hunter and Greenard are the same level and you only are paying Hunter for 2 years for 7 mil more. So that statement of “way more” is a bit disingenuous. If you’re asking me I’m taking a little older elite, All Pro type of player over a good, often injured younger player every time.

  • @dumpsterfirefrl
    @dumpsterfirefrl 3 місяці тому +2

    Definitely not an *all-in* move by the Texans. Contracts have early outs to move on with minimal dead money taken in. It’s not hamstringing the roster from the excessive void year restructures (i.e., _salary cap hell_ ) like it did with the Bills, Chargers, etc.

  • @danielmccrary676
    @danielmccrary676 3 місяці тому +1

    I think what is getting missed is the fact that a lot of the expensive money was spent on productive players on short term contracts. If they don’t work out, the core is still there and Caserio is a cap nut. Dude plays chess when most play checkers. I’m pretty sure that he has already thought five moves ahead in the most probable permutations.

The Texans did that and he's like oh they're only thinking about the short term. That's ridiculous. Btw they have great young foundational pieces at the most important positions in football. Stroud QB. Will Anderson Edge. Tank WR (Nico too even though contract coming up) Stingley CB. The four most important positions they're set for years and then you fill in the other pieces. Which is what they did, while also going all in on Stroud's rookie deal. TheY'Re oNLy tHInkINg aBOuT tHe ShOrT tERm. Gtf outta here with that noise

Last year while the whole so called experts were giving my Browns defense all the accolades and I warned my Browns not to listen to those wise men or they gonna get their axes handed to ‘em., what happened to the so called number one defense, they got blown out., that’s because they played a different Texans team than the one they beat..so don’t write out these Texans especially with that fast Bugatti Tank Dell guy receiver coming back plus Diggs and Mixon guys with the Texans I won’t be picking against them this season.
