The collective blend of science and experience on this show is unmatched. The quality of your interviews and historical context is outstanding. Thank you for the invaluable content covering key topics for strength training and general health!
“What’s old becomes new again” is something my Jiu Jitsu coach says all the time. I think the same concept applies to all aspects of fitness too, including supplements.
This episode was GREAT. Trexler clearly incredibly smart and educated but able to communicate in a very understandable way which not many people are able to do. Great guest, should definitely have him on again!
Why I like mind pump podcasts is because you always get at least 3 different opinions from people with different background from the same industry. You're actually driven to help the community and improve the quality of life, instead of just trying to ride on the latest gimmicks to get the views. It's often human nature to try to find the shortcuts, but you guys remind us to stick with the basics and only after that resort to supplements etc.
Been watching you guys for the past month now and just want to say thank you for being an advocate of general overall fitness and health. Been struggling with some bad eating habits and overtraining on cardio. Now I’m getting my nutrition in check and shifting to more resistance training. Already starting to see some better results.
I only recently discovered you guys but ever since then I've been hooked. I really like that while all three of you are generally on the same page, you each have a different perspective, which when taken together, provides an excellent range and understanding of a topic without it becoming confusing or indecisive. Meaning it's not as if the listener / viewer is confused as to whether something is good or bad, etc., but rather sees different aspects of something and possible ways of approaching it. Like I recalled the one episode where you guys had to give two exercises for each muscle group. You were generally on the same page but each person had a slightly different angle or idea as to which variation of the exercise might be better given certain considerations (like the person's range of mobility, whether it was meant to be functional, etc). Of note, this/today's episode was very informative. I love how the guest, who was both very knowledgeable and articulate (two traits that don't always go together) admitted that some of the supplements had contrasting opinions but that there was a credible argument would could be made for it and so in a sense it was worth trying, etc.
I know others have mentioned this already but just wanted to mention that I am so glad Doug is doing the intros. We don’t hear him very much during the show plus his words are very direct. I enjoy Sal but I think he is so well versed with speaking and has so much knowledge it comes out fast and sometimes I have to back it up and listen again lol. Wouldn’t change anyone tho because I enjoy everyone’s input and experiences and appreciate the foundation of knowledge y’all provide.
Upon hearing this conversation, I've decided to pull the trigger on Ashwagandha. In the last year or so, I've suffered from anxiety. Having tried to optimize nutrients, sleep, exercise, etc., I've seen a mild improvement, but I'm still not back to my "normal" state. I'm hopeful that this could provide some relief, and potentially several other health benefits.
I love the channel Also being recently sober has given me a great state of mind and clarity of what I want. this channel helps me out with fitness goals and staying focused. Keep up the great work y’all 🤘🏼

Re: vitamin D supplementation - interesting that clinicians note the huge variability in effectiveness of vitamin D supplementation dosages with different patients. Some kidney diseases are speculated to impact that, and I wonder how much more we've yet to discover about genetic factors in nutrient absorption/creation/etc. Im curious about genetics here as I'm personally familiar with Gitleman Syndrome, a genetic disorder affecting kidney function with regards to various electrolytes. Who knows what all might be responsible for varying kidney function regarding Vitamin D - genetics, food additives/diet, alcohol, or any other tiny changes might cause full-on disease or something small that down the chain might cause anything ranging from poor circulation to a particular muscle head or a chronically low micronutrient level.

Amazing episode and so much info to take in. I'm probably going to have to listen again and take notes on it this time. Also, I'm surprised you all kept calm during the earthquake. I would have figured one of you would have done something like try to leave.
Found your channels a couple of days ago on my journey to better health in my 40's. Love watching you guys and this was a great episode. I have to say I miss the pump but I just can't take the L arginine and I think the L citrulline does the same. Taking them always flares my Cold sores/fever blisters that I have had since childhood when I take them. I am pretty sure the nitrate would do it also, man I would love to have that pump back. Great show again and just love the energy y'all have.
regarding the testosterone decline, have they looked at testosterone levels by profession? We know that test levels increase slightly after hard lifting, so I'm curious if people who do manual labor 40 hours a week have more testosterone. 60 years ago, manual labor jobs had a higher percentage of total workforce in the US than today
Would love the free gift to use to come back after 3 years of major surgeries. I'd could share my results? Also, it would've been great if you asked Eric specifically if fasting actually helps with T levels? Maybe you guys could message him and give us the info. Great guest! Eric is always fun to listen to. Very smart fella, that can express in layman's terms. That Earthquake was wild!
Thank you for the informative content. It really is quite crazy how many promises a lot of suppliment companies make. I have to admit that i have fallen into that trap multiple times. Why does ashwagandha absolutely tank my libido every time I run it? Goes from like 8/10 to 2/10. I'm 6ft, 160 pounds, about 10% to 12% body fat. Could it be lowering my estrogen too much maybe?
Cortisol actually. Ashwaganda, like amny things in life, doesn't work well for every body. Some peoples Cortisol lowers too much from ashwaganda. @@nl3712 That's how I always thought it worked, but apparently it can reduce cortisol excessively as well. I eat lots of animal fat, and at least 6 eggs every day.

Yesterday I ate a bagel that came with my bacon omelette. And I regret it. I’ve noticed it has me feeling like I wanna eat anything but knowing what caused it helps me stay focused and In control. But the scale not moving is somewhat discouraging. I’ve done anabolic which is what helped me drop all the weight. Should I take a break but still continue my diet? Any help is appreciated.
I plan to try and get on trt soon for my mental health and the physical benefits will be a side effect. I tested with low testosterone in the 160s. I am 28 percent body fat though so maybe that doesn't help.
Been at a plateau for weight loss and muscle gain. Not sure if it’s my nutrition or my training. Pretty well trained and do splits 5-6 days a week. Also commenting for the chance at the giveaway.
25:55 gotta look at who they're surveying. Looking at a sample of liberal arts students versus, people in prison versus high school football players it'll be variance.
"I need a supplement to help me get more test, improve my sleep, and make me better in bed" "why not just workout it does all of those?" "No a supplement, I need a quick fix" "there isn't one, it's a clickbait title"
I believe that most of supplements are not healthy, one of them being protein powders ,animal sources or vegetable. I believe thas most of the nutrients are destroy y the process and all the sugars added and more staff the put in. Damn, that dude is articulate 🧠
Great ep!
Can you do a show on enclomiphene and testosterone?
What if you have a decent total testosterone but low free testosterone? Should you take Boron?
Can anyone lead my on the right direction on purchasing some ashwagandha !!!
MindPump Bros, you should create your own reality TV show like the biggest loser except with your protocols. Would be legendary!
Not a bad idea.
Could someone summarize the suggested supplements for the lazy listener?
For Testosterone:
1. Zinc
2. Magnesium
3. Ashwagandha
4. DIM
For sleep:
1. Melatonin (0.1 mg - 1 mg)
2. Tart Cherry
Thanks! All great info. Cutting my Melatonin dose immediately.
Amazing! So happy this was helpful!
I plan to try and get on trt soon for my mental health and the physical benefits will be a side effect. I tested with low testosterone in the 160s. I am 28 percent body fat though so maybe that doesn't help.
Does Eric have an opinion on Methylene Blue?

Did Saul snort some Addy before this EP lol 😂
Hey mind pump may I have a favor. I am trying to find the video of y’all talking about Alpha GPC and I just can’t find it. Any idea which one it is?
BOOOM MINDPUMP TIME!!!!! awesome podcast but the true question is did those Flintstones Vitamins work when I was a kid? 😂
Good question!
Best show ...they know there stuff...💯❌💯
No testosterone issues with boys📝 Barely budged during a massive quake😳👏 Amazing episode. Interesting🤔 and actionable✅

Good show good episode
Glad you enjoyed it!
Been at a plateau for weight loss and muscle gain. Not sure if it’s my nutrition or my training. Pretty well trained and do splits 5-6 days a week. Also commenting for the chance at the giveaway.
Check out this clip!

Me for most of the show: “this is good info!”
Me when it gets to lowering blood pressure and improving sex: “best episode ever!” 😂😂
Love this 🤓
Really glad you enjoyed it!
Felt like there was a lot of leading questions in this interview
25:55 gotta look at who they're surveying. Looking at a sample of liberal arts students versus, people in prison versus high school football players it'll be variance.
Without a doubt!
I think you guys woke the gods with these talks
They realized they were vitamin D deficient and had to come out for some sun.
"I need a supplement to help me get more test, improve my sleep, and make me better in bed"
"why not just workout it does all of those?"
"No a supplement, I need a quick fix"
"there isn't one, it's a clickbait title"
Just an earthquake in the middle of the podcast. Normal California shit. Carry on with your testosterone talk 😂😂😂 u guys are dope af.
Nothing like anabolic and a protein “shake”
Let's get it
HELP
The amount of information in this single interview is too overwhelming for me to digest in one sitting. I'll be back. lol
Not a bad idea, there is a lot in there.
" Shbg is not fancy word it is scientific word"
Isn’t nitrosigine better then citruline
Is this real?
How do you get stronger without looking bigger
I believe that most of supplements are not healthy, one of them being protein powders ,animal sources or vegetable. I believe thas most of the nutrients are destroy y the process and all the sugars added and more staff the put in. Wen is on a powder go's in to the liver faster like a frut wen you take the fiber out. You have a higher insulin spike. Have you talked about this topic? This is my opinion.
Your info is Earth shaking
Had no idea Justin and Adam were on this episode until 50 minutes in lmao
Sal is our resident supplement geek!
That's just an earthquake. Let's carry on like nothing happened. 😂
No bid deal.
