- 😲 WELL WE ENCOUNTERED SOME ISSUES! 😲
After countless comments asking us how to clean the Travis Scott Phantom Jordan 1 Lows we decided to take them on. In Today's Shoe Care Academy episode we will show you exactly how to clean these sneakers. Plus we will show you all the complications that you will encounter while doing so; the clean wasn't perfect by any means, but hey we did it.
To clean these black suede kicks we relied on the RESHOEVN8R Essential Cleaning Kit paired with a couple different products to really get the desired results. Using the Essential Cleaning Kit we cleaned the entire sneaker with the 3 different brushes and the all natural solution.
When cleaning the uppers we noticed some of the most insane color bleed that we have ever seen! 😲 However, even with the color bleed, we had no choice but to clean these with the Solution. We hit the entire suede upper using the Soft Bristle Brush to truly breakdown the dirt. After the uppers were taken care of we moved over to the Medium Bristle Brush and used that on our rubber midsoles and the hard stitch you see in the midsole section. Finally it was time to hit the outsole with the Stiff Bristle Brush. Then we had to let the shoe dry for 24 hours to see what we were truly working with.
After they dried we noticed quite a bit of issues. The main one being the staining on the white stitching as a result of the insane color bleed we encountered and a whole lot of color fading, I mean these shoes went from black to almost green with that bleed. After many passes on the stitching we quickly realized it wasn't coming back to that pure white. However, we could repair the color bleed!
Finally, we had to use the Dry Suede Kit and Medium Brush to reset the nap on the materials prior to using Mink Oil to bring that color back. Mink Oil is a great tool for reconditioning leather as well as restoring color to the original condition.
Y'all asked and we answered! We encountered all these issues, so that you had the answers that you needed. If you are cleaning these be careful and be prepared for the color bleed. Even with all of the technical difficulties, these Phantom Jordan 1s cleaned up nice!!

Just make sure your brushes are COMPLETELY dry before closing up the drying rack. They WILL mold if the wood is still wet. I know from experience

Really wished this video came out before I washed my phantoms a few months ago. I washed it using those shoe cleaning kits from the mall and totally messed up my sneakers good thing is that the sneakers are black so u can’t tell but the only bad part is the nubuck on the front of the shoe isn’t soft no more but we live and learn from our mistakes

From experience one of the toughest shoes to clean. Wore them once and messed them up. Cleaned them up as much as I could (8.5/10) but the material is definitely unforgiving.

while i use mink oil for protection and softness it does not replace color lost in the cleaning process. So be prepared to replace color with Rit dye. DO NOT use suede dye unless you know for a fact it is 100% color match, once thats stuff is in, it aint coming out lol. Rit dye whoever is great for adding back some lost color, either from age, wear or cleaning. you only need to approximate the original color too, doesnt need a perfect match. make a watered downed solution and paint on multiple coats until you like the result, wont be factory but it will come out very good and brings new life to old SBs and other quality suede sneakers. even works okay on crap Jordan brand suede. good luck!

@@RESHOEVN8R all the time! probably on my 20th can. but while it makes the material darker it cant replace color lost , at least not nearly as well as dye. try for yourself, it works great. then you lock it in with the mink oil :)
I understand cleaning it w dust and a little dirts but how about if cleaning the outsole w sticky dirts, muds & somewhat poop. will it be nasty cleaning it on the table or under a cloth? really depends how dirty realistically the shoe is. Cleaning in this method only for those sneaks that are used lightly in cleaner pastures or inside mall and carparks.
This cleaner can be used for all things not just dusty shoes.
Can you try cleaning eggs from suede shoes ? I have this problem where I was on a pride event and some bunch of kids threw eggs at us for no reason, ruining my Travis J1s. Or what should I do to revive the suede from the egg ? I cant get it off

I only wear mine when I know they’re not going to get dirty, on a dry day when I’m just going shopping or to dinner or something
I cleaned mine, not too long ago I knew they were gonna bleed for some reason Nike and any type of black shoe seems to bleed that in any type of Red **cough, cough Chicago Air Jordan 1s** I cleaned them I knew not to oversaturate them and they do clean each panel one by one and also reset the napp … but you need the mink oil thats what actually saves the shoe

I used this cleaner with the brush and it absolutely destroyed my black phantoms. It faded the nubuck on the toe box.

I watched the whole 20 min of this to not even see a good closeup of the result. Show a good and sharp closeup of the whole shoe please and not just 10 seconds of the shoe spinning fast as hell where you can’t see any details

Drying directly under the sun will ruin leather even canvas sneakers so don't do it as I ruined some of sneakers doing that.

When a shoe is this dirty you have no options but to clean it with water. A suede eraser and brush wouldn't of cleaned this sneaker correctly.
