Absolutely. "Before Abraham was, I AM". "I and my Father are one". "When you've seen me, you've seen the Father". No human or angel could honestly say those things. He also accepted worship while the angels and apostles rejected it. The Scribes and Pharisees also accused Him of making Himself equal with God and He never corrected them. They clearly understood what He was saying and crucified Him for it. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one.
You only find those in the gospel of John, the last gospel written. Why did the author of John have Jesus saying all of that but you don't find anything like in the early gospels? Mark the first gospel written there is nothing like that. If Jesus was saying that stuff why wouldn't anyone but John say that?
@@atheistskeptic8748 Because they weren't collaborating together. Different words and events described in each book reflect the fact that they were giving true eyewitness testimonies. Had they all said the same things, in the same ways, using the same words, they'd mostly likely be conspiring together since people don't do that in real life. When police take statements from multiple witnesses their focus differs in their descriptions. Police are immediately suspicious when multiple people use the same words and say the same things since that doesn't normally happen. The differences in the gospels offer different perspectives without direct contradiction. This makes them more credible as evidence.

If Jesus was running around saying he was god don't you think the earlier gospels writers would mention that somewhere? Where in Mark the earliest gospel written does it say Jesus said he was god?

I can't argue theology because you can certainly believe any claim based on your theological belief but if your going to argue it's historical evidence that is a claim in which hostory can't in any way prove. You have a book John that says Jesus said these things you can never prove that he actually did say those historically.

I'm here to understand why so many people believe in something they can't prove and can't even give a half decent argument for why they believe and then run around and try to get others to believe it or force a belief you can't prove onto others.

Filmbay: In none of the texts that you gave, can Yeshua (Jesus) be seen to be claiming to be YHVH nor backing up the claim.
The very fact that John 8:58 does not make sense grammatically should suggest to us that there is a problem with the translation. The Greek phrase translated as “I am” in this verse are the words “Ego eimi”. Exactly the same phrase is used in many other places in the New testament and it is usually translated as “I am he” or something similar. It is only translated as “I am” in John 8:58. In particular it is used several other times in John's Gospel, i.e. John 13:19; John 18:5, John 18:6 and John 18:8 and is always translated as “I am he”. (KJV) Therefore it is not sensible to take this English translation and make it to be something that it is not. Moreover, the phrase “Ego eimi” as far as I know is not used as God's name. Even in the Septuagint, which is a Jewish translation of the Hebrew Bible in to Greek (I am using the Apostolic Bible which is translated from the Septuagint), the Greek does not have Jehovah saying his name is “Ego eimi”. In Exodus 3:14 Jehovah describes himself with the Greek phrase, “Ego Eimi Ho Ho Eimi” (as far as I can divine from the Strongs Greek references for the Apostolic Bible). This is translated in the KJV as “I Am Who I AM. He continues in Exodus 3:15 to give the name that He wants to be known by, but this is not used in the Septuagint, since the Jews at this time think it wrong to use the name Jehovah (YHVH) and put the Greek word “Theos” instead. The name in the Hebrew, “YHVH” is the name that is used throughout the rest of the Old Testament.
Your use of the passage John 10:30-33 should also include John 10:36 where Yeshua (Jesus) fully explains the Jews charge of blasphemy: “do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, You blaspheme, because I said, I am Son of God?” (John 10:36 [LITV]). The Jews accused Yeshua (Jesus) of calling himself the “Son of God” and that was blasphemy. In addition, Yeshua (Jesus) makes a clear distinction between himself and YHVH by saying that YHVH sent him and is his father.
In using the capitalised, “I AM...” in the rendering of John 14:6 that you gave (which should be preceded by an ellipsis to show that not all of the verse was included. You seem to be suggesting that Yeshua (Jesus) said, “...YHVH, the way, the truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” This makes no sense. The verse is , “Jesus said to him, I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6 [LITV]) Here Yeshua (Jesus) is saying that he is the route, but the final destination is YHVH.
@Sage of Synergism It is used in the present tense in John 18:5, John 18:6 and John 18:8 . There is no reason to translate it otherwise in john 8:58.
You should not copy and paste scripture and make a doctrine of it. Moreover, the point here is what Yeshua (Jesus) actually claims himself, not what “...we say”. E.g. “Jesus said to her, Do not touch Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father. But go to My brothers and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and My God, and your God.” (John 20:17 [LITV])
@Sage of Synergism Yeshua (Jesus) in John 8:58 does not say that Abraham saw him, but that Abraham saw his coming, “his day”. A proper understanding of the text is that Yeshua (Jesus) is saying that he was the one foretold even before Abraham: “I am he”. (Genesis 3:15).
When I talk about copying and pasting, I am referring to copying one text and pasting it into another scriptural context. This is what you did.
The importance of John 20:17 is that these are Yeshua's (Jesus') own words, and tell us explicitly that he is not YHVH. Note that Thomas says, that Yeshua (Jesus) is his God, not, “The God” which is a common usage in those days when referring to an important person. Yeshua (Jesus) himself used the word similarly: “Jesus answered them, Has it not been written in your Law, "I said, you are gods"? If He called those gods with whom the Word of God was, and the Scripture cannot be broken,” (John 10:34-35 [LITV]).
YHVH is always referred to in the Greek as “Ho ho Theos”, “the God” and never “my God”. The literal translation if Thomas had been calling him YHVH would be “..My Lord and the God”.
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
Then again in John 17:21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Why would Jesus make that in only the book of John? If Jesus really said that and everything else he proclaimed why didn't the earliest gospels written say Jesus said? You look at the very last gospel that explains Jesus vastly different. How can you show he actually said that?

The Jews are already gathered in their land from the Balfour declaration in 1948.And Jesus was denied his place as King that's what the Jews missed.They're Messiah (Jesus)was literally prophesied centuries before arrival and they still didn't want to accept him.Unfortunately Jesus never said anything about a one world government...this is the Antichrist.
Read Psalms 22 and Isaiah 53 which are two from many many verses and chapters about Jesus.

The bible shows that Christ has 2 natures. Human and divine. What theologians call the Incarnation. When you put all of scripture together it shows that he he is both God and man.

Thank you so much for discussing this. A difficult topic to talk about, specially when it's your own family asking questions and doubting my explanations. Not easy as there are emotions and respect for your elders that make me back down but this is exactly what I needed.

@Priscilla Jervey my family don't believe His is. I'm a Christian, but they are non believers and this is just one of the parts they can't accept. But I've since realised my explaining won't change their thinking, I can only plant seeds and leave it to the Holy Spirit.

Jesus ate and drank in Matt 11:19 Jesus says he came eating and drinking how can a man who ate and drank be God, does God eat and drink?
Jesus felt hunger and thirst, Jesus felt hungry we read this in Matt 4:2 and later in Mark 11:2 in John 19:28 we read that Jesus while on the cross felt thirsty God obviously does not feel hungry or thirsty. God has no needs and since Jesus felt hunger and thirst He was a human like us. He could not have been God.

Jesus was seen as a prophet in Matt 21:46. Jesus was seen as a human prophet the
Israelites always understood prophets as mortal human messengers of God who were not in any way divine.
Jesus was a human mediator 1Tim 2:5 makes it clear that there is one God and Jesus is only a man who mediates between God and mankind.
Jesus was a man with god-given authority in Matt 9:8 we read that Jesus was a man whose authority and power came from God. Jesus reiterates the same point in many other passages.
Proof number
10: Jesus was accredited and appointed by God in Acts 2:22 we read Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God. Later in Acts

Jesus knew who He was He came down from the Father. The Prophets like Moses or Isaiah or Daniel or Abraham knew because they spoke of Jesus being GOD he is the second of the Godhead he's GOD the Son. Jesus say's if you believe in GOD , believe also in Him. And Jesus say's before Abraham was I'AM ! And King David in the Spirit say's that The LORD said unto my LORD sit down at my right Hand until I make thy enemies your footstool. And also Jesus was in the wilderness with the children of Israel going before them in the cloud by day , and in the Fire by night. That Rock where Moses was forth to stretch out his staff at that Rock where the water was at that was Christ it was a typical figure that Jesus is that Living Water which flows from Everlasting to Everlasting. At that time GOD the Father didn't reveal his Son name Jesus at that time. There was other names given like The Ancient of Day's , Shiloh which mean's rest or peace , The ALMIGHTY , Great JEHOVAH but the name Jesus was given later on. Even John said that there are three that bears witness in Heaven , The Father , The Son , and The Holy Spirit for those Three are One , and there are Three that bears witness on The Earth , The Water and The Blood , and The Spirit. The water for baptism and the Blood for Redemption. When you are worshipping GOD The Father also you are worshipping GOD The Son which is Jesus. And Jesus also will be on that Great White Throne Judging everybody that ever lived.

Mike if you must know read then Isaiah 6 chapter starting at the first verse all the way to the 13 verse. Jesus Christ is all through the Old Testament it just that GOD the Father didn't of those times didn't reveal Jesus name that will come later. The Prophets that GOD dealt with and gave them widom and understanding knew ! GOD wasn't dealing with people on a personal bases like He was dealing with the Prophets. Of the increase of His Government and peace there shall be no end , upon the throne of David , and upon his Kingdom , to order it , and to Established it with Judgement and with Justice from Henceforth even forever , The Zeal of The LORD of Hosts will perform this. All those Old Prophets spoke of the Messiah to come which was Jesus but those Mysteries was shut up. GOD The Father didn't have to reveal His Son's name Jesus in that time because that was GOD the Father decision. Because you see it is written that The Mysteries of GOD is His , but when He decides to send them down to His children then it is ours. GOD is the only One that gives grace and Truth ! He is the Only One who gives wisdom , knowledge and understanding to them that wants to know the Truth. GOD gives grace to the humble , not to people that are so prideful , arrogant , and with a haughty spirit. And the LORD did say that pride goes before destruction , and a haughty spirit before a fall ? Either people believe in the Word of GOD ? or they don't ? GOD knows one's heart whether or not it is going in one ear and out the other because of non belief.

Why is it so clear to some but to some they see the New Testament as a lie to deceive the people and that Jesus is a lie of the church? Jews are really as devoted to the Torah as we r to the gospel. I know at glance it seems like Jesus is questioning why they call Him good. However, He is agreeing that He is good, but bringing to their attention that this goodness is from the Father and the good they see in Him is because He is light from light, true God from true God.
He was saying that if people recognize that He is good then they should know that He is God. They should recognize that God is the source of goodness, not man. He was raising people’s minds to recognize the Messiah.

In Daniel when God called him the" son of man numerous times...about 90 times to be exact, I have always believed that term meant "Human." It still does in Judisam today. As I understand scriptures Jesus chose this reference for himself. Am I wrong??

Peter already knows he is God. So does the rest of the 12, and his disciples. The praising goes to Thomas, WHO LITERALLY CALLS HIM GOD. Peter was not praised there, as Jesus, literally rocks up, meets Thomas and the lads, and Thomas says John 20:28, And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
To which Jesus answers in the next verse:

It is crystal clear especially if you read the surrounding verses. Jesus is definitively God, accepts praise as if he is God, and talks as if he is God. Saying anything else is ridiculous.

Jesus felt hunger and thirst, Jesus felt hungry we read this in Matt 4:2 and later in Mark 11:2 in John 19:28 we read that Jesus while on the cross felt thirsty God obviously does not feel hungry or thirsty. God has no needs and since Jesus felt hunger and thirst He was a human like us. He could not have been God.

It seems to a cruel injustice for churches today to threaten with loss of salvation anyone who questions the trinitarian deity of jesus. God has not teased us with ambiguities, uncertainties and hair splitting arguments about how many he is. “before Abraham was born, I am!” John 8:58 In Greek ""πρὶν Ἀβραὰμ γενέσθαι ἐγὼ εἰμί"
If the name of God is "ἐγὼ εἰμί" and John 8:58 refers to Exodus than it should be clearly articulated by Jesus. But if we take a look at Exouds 3:14 we see a different wording.
"God said to Moses, “I am who I am" Exodus 3:14 In Greek "εγώ ειμι ο ων"
"ἐγὼ εἰμί" versus "εγώ ειμι ο ων"
The only question in this scenario is "What does it mean to exist before Abraham?" And we can find answer in Ephesians 1:4 where it says: "For He (God) chose us in Him (God) before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love." So its clear here that its not a claim of divinity, its about the will of God.
So God need textual gymnastics to reveal this information? Doesnt make sense.

Jesus had a genealogy. It is written about in the gospel of Matt and Luke. Jesus being the Messiah is also called the son of David. Paul also calls Jesus as a descendent of David in Rom.1:3. The eternal (no beginning) God simply does not have a linage or human ancestry and it would be absurd to think a descendent of David is God, or vice-versa. Jesus called himself a man in Jn 8:40. Jesus’ shocking teaching of the resurrection jolted the leaders of His day to anger and hatred. There is no where in the Bible where Jesus ever said out of his mouth that he is God. Any false narrative that is not supported by Jehovah Almighty or the words in the Bible is influenced by the enemy. Some human beings just get caught up on not wanting to feel like what they was taught and believe is wrong, rather than to focus on what the truth actually is. It was a time in my life where I shared the same beliefs as a lot of these other people. When I realized that what I believed at the time was not supported by the Bible I had no problem with admitting that I was wrong. People let their emotions and ego stand in the way of receiving God's righteous words.

Than you. You are so right. It is my contension that most Christians don't really care. They go to church with the attitude "tell me Pastor what do I believe today?: The majority don't even realize the word trinity isn't in the Bible NOR "
God the Son". God's word did become flesh in his son Jesus Christ, but that didn't make Jesus the one almighy God. a son can't be the father at the same time. Why don't trinitarians use their common sense when reading the Bible??

In the Bible you will find by comparing Rev. 22:16 with Rev. 22:6-9 that a Holy Prophet Jesus sent, who has seen God clearly face to face in heaven calls Jesus LORD GOD of the Holy Prophets.

Trinitarians believe that God attached to himself a human nature. we human beings cannot identify with this divine Jesus as being one of us. If Jesus is the divine god the Son, not only would we be unable to identify with him as one of us, it wouldn't even be permissible for us to think of him as being one of us when he is god and we are not. identifying ourselves with a divine Jesus would practically amount to the blasphemy of equating ourselves with god since God is not to be counted as one of us but as the object of our worship. 1 Th. 4:3 we are to become like Jesus, it is impossible to become like God.

And if he is God Himself not our representative and intermediary, how can he intervene on our behalf? Jesus could have intrinsic advantage over Adam, or his qualification as Redeemer would be legally nullified. He was the Last Adam, not the first God-man. Many prophecies indicate that the Coming One would arise from the “seed,” the stock of humanity, and from Abrahamic and Davidic stock. The coming prophet would be a man of whom it is said that God would put His words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. To say that the Messiah is God Himself is to contradict the whole point of this prophecy. For it announced that the ultimate spokesman for God is expressly not God but a human being. Why do you and millions of Christians want to reject the son of God - Jesus? Is it because Christians can't bear to have him as a human - a human like us? Wouldn't it make more sense for God to love us so much that he would send His son to be a model/example for us to follow, some one we can relate to, some one who experiences the same temptations, trials and tribulations yet remain obedient to God till the end, to show us how to live in such a fallen satan-driven world? I can;t be like God - no one can but perhaps we can try and pattern our lives like Jesus. Maybe this is why he now sits at God's right hand being so much better than the angels. Wasn't God always better than the angels, after all he did create them. He exalted Jesus Higher because of his obidence to him and giving up his life for us. Why give Jesus God's glory, why ??? Trinitarians are in conformity with Scripture when they say that Jesus was given honor and glory because he was obedient unto death. But they seem to have overlooked a fundamental tenet of trinitarian dogma; the preexistence of Christ...[God the Son]. If Jesus is a preexistent divine person as he is purported to be in [Phil. 2:6] though he was in the form/image of God”), then by reason of his divinity, would be immortal, thus he could not have died on the cross. Continuing this line of reasoning, the exaltation that the hymn says was consequent to his death. It could not have been awarded him if he could not die. Either Jesus is a true human being and not merely God with a physical body and was able to die on the cross as a mortal being, or Jesus is God as Trinitarians say he is (they equate having “the form of God” with being God), in which case Jesus could not have been crucified and couldn’t have been described a being obedient “unto death”. Jesus is the last/second Adam, he had to be born into humanity, he had to have free will, he had to be able to be tempted and to DIE. If he were God none of this would mean anything significant or meaningful to us. It was jesus' s righteousnes and his obedience to the fathe that set an example to us. On the Road to Demascas when Paul was stricken down by the bright light and asked who are you Lorrd. What was the answer? " I am Jesus why are you persecuting me?" Was that God speaking Frank? Was Saul later to become Paul persecuting Christians!!! After this incident Paul went on to teach the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST - did he not?. What do you do with the verse when Jesus asked Peter Who do you say I am? How on earth can you disregard such straight forward verses among the so-called neblous proof text which can on closer study and indepth interpretation be dismantled. Did the God-man come thru the linage of David and Abraham? Why was Jesus called the Lamb of God? In the book of revelation how times did Jesus make reference to his God?

Let's forget John gospel, did Jesus forgive sin or not? Did he claim to be the way, truth and life? What else do you want?
Have you ever considered the story where Jesus forgives the sins of the paralytic and heals Him? I think that clearly demonstrates Christs divinity, and its in the synoptics (Mark 2, luke 5, and Mathew 9)
“And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, “Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you question these things in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” -he said to the paralytic- “I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.””

Also Jesus said Himself that you should only worship God alone, but He also receives and accepts worship multiple times throughout His life- in the synoptics as well. Jesus also calls Himself the Son of Man, a clear reference to Daniel 7 which also indicates His divinity. Jesus says He is greater than the temple, prophets and kings, He has authority over nature, authority over life and death, and authority over health and sickness. He is the Lord of the Sabbath, and Mark 1:1-3 in reference to Isaiah 40:3 also shows how Jesus is God as well :)

He referred to himself as son of man and all the Jews referred to themselves as sins of god

@@mickqQ What about His acceptance of worship- which He said is only for God to accept. Or what about Him forgiving sins- when only God forgives sins? And what about Daniel 7, which Jesus was referencing about Himself- that prophecy is about God- not any ordinary man.

If Son of Man was just a regular name for everyone, why did they condemn Jesus to death for blasphemy by calling Himself the Son of Man?

In the gospel of John Jesus is reported as saying “ before Abraham, I am “
“ if you have seen the father, you have seen me”
Jesus is telling people “ I am god”
If Jesus was really telling people that he was god ... as John said he was
Then why didn’t Matthew , Mark , or Luke record it ... Jesus could not have uttered more important words.

In the gospel of Mark he tells no one he is god , or in Luke or in Matthew.

Yes, I may be wrong, however if God called Jesus his son, and Jesus recognized God as his Father, and the demons, satan, martha, the woman at the well, and John the baptist knew Who he was in addition to so many others how on earth can you Disregard? Why haven't you allowed yourself a small margin for err?? How many times in scriptures did Jesus make reference to his God.....and his Father. How many times did he make reference to his father....IN HEAVEN. Didn't he say he was going to the father after his resurrection. Who is sitting at God's right hand?? If Jesus is God and created everything then he must have been the Firet Adam and not the second Adam. I thought God created the first Adam drim Dirt?
