Frank just heard yesterday on the passing of your Father, my deepest sympathies and prayers to you and your family. May our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ welcome him into our Heavenly Father's Kingdom. Also thank you for this video very valid points.
For as long as I have walked with Christ, I have rarely if ever heard this taught. This is good stuff! Could listen to this all day. Thank you...this is awesome.
When we say “for as long as we walk with Christ” it means the time we became a Christian and followed Him we haven’t heard this teaching. They were saying that that haven’t heard this teaching in all their years of following Jesus. Just to clarify.
This video is loaded with so many excellent arguments for the Christian Faith. Thank you @Cross Examined, for helping an old fellar become a better apologist for Christ!

Actually a lot of the Jewish Christians in the beginning did keep the Mosaic law. The teaching that you didn't have to follow the Mosaic law was to the Gentiles so that they knew that the Jewish Christians who were coming to them and demanding that they follow the Mosaic law where incorrect. In Acts you can find where Paul and the original disciples made an agreement he would go to the Gentiles they would stay with converting the Jews.
My understanding was that the early Church also kept the Sabbath, but because of the explosion of growth in the church among the gentiles, wanting to convert their pagan friends, they moved their Sabbath to Sunday, when the pagans worshipped their sun god, and it's been that way ever since. I'm with Frank, except for what he said about the Sabbath. I believe he took Paul out of context on that issue, because there were other sabbaths besides the Sabbath.
@@randyhugheslives I'm no defender of paganism by any means, but I've always found the whole sun god argument a bit disingenuous. If there's one thing pagans are known for, it's worshipping a huge variety of gods of all kinds and often giving no real special importance to any one. Why was the sun god the one that AAAAAAALL these gentiles decided to follow in such volume that they would insist Sunday be the new sabbath for a God which is greater than ALL of their false ones? Sunday was the day that Christ was resurrected. I find it much more believable that the early church, even if one wants to argue it was mostly Gentiles, decided to move the day of worship to Sunday because that was the day a new covenant was forged with Christ's resurrection. Myself personally, if I had the option, I'd observe a Messianic Jewish Shabbat and worship again on Sunday. Respect the old and the new ways of God. He is as real now as he was then.

In the account of the feeding of the five thousand Jesus and His disciples were at the south end of Galilee and afterward He escaped into the hills while He told them to go to Capernaum in the boat. It tells in all accounts of how the wind was blowing from opposite the way they were trying to go ( from the north ) and they weren't getting anywhere rowing against the wind. In the middle of that Jesus walked on the wild water as if it was an asphalt parking lot and would have passed them up. According to John's account when Jesus got in the boat the wind stopped and they were supernaturally transported to Capernaum where the next day people noticed theirs was the only boat on that coast. Every other boat could only go south until Jesus got in the boat and that high wind condition stopped. Everyone, just like paparazzi ,were following the miracle worker and when they could finally go north to Capernaum looking for Him they were amazed that He had been there for quite some time especially when they saw the apostles leave without Him.
@@2ndPigeon yeah, small details in the Bible. You need to read the new Testament- times of Jesus slowly and take in the whole picture. There is an incredible amount of detail for something written that long ago. I like that ' walking on water ' account. You can just see Jesus, even though it is windy and wavy on the sea He is just cruising along like He's walking down a sidewalk and the men in the boat think He is a ghost, and He yells out " it's only me , don't be scared " Or when they are going to stone Him or push Him over a cliff and because He is God and knows the thoughts of everyone in the crowd He knows just where to go as He just walks right through the middle of them and gets away.

About a month ago I heard Dr Frank mention the book Undersigned Coincidences by JJ Blunt which is available for free download. I have read up to the new testament section so far and have had to email my friends the link as it is an incredible read. You really could not make this up in my opinion. What strikes me also is JJ Blunt did this without the aid of a computer. He really was the J Warner Wallace ( The Cold Case Detective) of his day.
That’s not saying much considering that Wallace does NOT apply his detective skills to the bible like bible worshippers think, but simply assumes that all scripture is true. Which would be like a detective assuming all villains tell the truth.
@@Columbo-r4z Hello Frank, Not sure how much you know about J Warner Wallace's past but he started his research from an atheistic viewpoint and came to the conclusion that Christianity is true beyond any reasonable doubt. @@deaninuk2186 I don’t believe him. Many bible worshippers claim that they used to be atheists and then go on to completely misrepresent atheism like Wallace has. What’s important is that he has never presented evidence and he didn’t use his detective skills in his reasoning.

@@Columbo-r4z I think there are a lot of people who couldn't care less one way or the other if there is a God or not. At least you seem to be researching this, but it does take time and effort . I think CS Lewis's comments make sense and I paraphrase " If it's true , nothing is more important. But if it's not throw it away" I think that is a fair statement. I believe it's true but I'd like to think if really good evidence came to light that it wasn't I'd except it. As an agnostic who I really respected said to me years ago "at the end of the day people believe what they want to believe". It can take courage to be ruthlessly honest with ourselves and be truly unbiased but I think we must try.
"They're telling the truth!" Just like when Paul laid out plainly women's role in humanity, the family, and the church.( 1st Timothy 2:12,1st Corinthians 14:33-36.) BECAUSE HE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH! Bathsheba was an adulterous harlot who took baths in public view while her husband was fighting for his country. She wasn't mentioned because she was an embarrassment that was key in bringing disaster on the House of David and His entire family. Jesus never appointed a woman disciple for a reason. THAT'S THE TRUTH! Solomon, wisest man to walk the earth aside from Christ Himself said in Ecclesiastes 7:26-28,"I've seen one in a thousand righteous men,not one woman." Are women to be loved, protected and cherished? Yes! But not given equal standing with men. Are all women evil? NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! But a good righteous woman like described in Proverbs 31 is plainly described as a "rare jewel. A ruby." It's God's Word therefore it's TRUE! Stop trying to sprinkle satanic feminist ideals into God's message. Don't talk about the perfection of God's Word then try and twist, add to ,and cast doubt on It's meaning. You can argue context all you want but it's YOU taking it out of context. Remember it was Eve who quickly betrayed God and Adam. Adam's sin was heeding the woman instead of God. Just like every single Godly man in Scripture who fell because of a woman. They heeded a woman and ignored God. ALL of the Godly women in Scripture were submissive and obedient. Rare jewels.
i agree with you. i have also learned from you. as a woman, i never believed or even wanted to be equal to men. it just didnt seem right. and this was before i took God and our relationship serious. and yall i didnt grow up with a father figure and my mom had to play the dad role, so i have every reason to want equality, but i dont cause as i said it didnt seem right which i actually later on found out that it actually isnt. we're made like this for a reason and our purpose as women is for the better for both ourselves and others.
He may not have appointed a female disciple but if you read the word correctly both Jesus and Paul had women ministering.....Mary Magdalene followed Jesus through out is ministry Paul greet women in different books
Wow. I think it's interesting that the original poster here is saying "you can argue context all you want, but it's YOU taking it out of context" with no hint of humility or possibility that his own interpretation might be somewhat flawed or biased. I am in no way a feminist, and I am of the Christian mind that a woman should be obediant to her husband, and are not meant to be 'over' men, of course, but I get the feeling this man has an attitude towards women as if they are 'less'. I wonder if Jesus would say his interpretation of scripture and his attitude is spot on. Something tells me he wouldn't. For every woman in scripture that sins, there are 10 men that sin as well, which brings us back to the whole point, that ALL fall short, ALL have gone their own way, and neither is better or worse than the other. Also, he's misinterpreted the very Ecclesiastes scripture he cited. Talk about out of context.
Thank you sir for all you do, I listen often while working to all your debates and questions and it really lifts me up to learn so much useful info. God bless!

@richard et al. It's probably more interesting to ask how do we know about the transfiguration and temptation by Satan? Sure, two Pharisees were presents, that favored Jesus (Joseph/Nicodemus), and heard him refer to himself as God three times. But how do we know about the temptation of Christ by satan? How do we know about the details of the transfiguration? Logic would lead us to believe that Jesus told the stories to his disciples. Only Jesus doesn't say in Luke 23:3, "Yes I am a king." He says, "You have said so.' You're correct that John includes more dialog but you didn't add that here. John 18:33-37 reads: Again Pilate entered the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered him, “Are you speaking of your own accord, or did others tell you about Me?” Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests handed You over to me. What have You done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would fight, that I would not be handed over to the Jews. But now My kingdom is not from here.” Therefore Pilate said to Him, “Then are You a king?” Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this reason I was born, and for this reason I came into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” There's a lot more in there, beginning with, "Are you speaking of your own accord, or did others tell you about Me?"
Yes Jesus resurrecting from the dead would definitely be an impact event, but so would the resurrection of the old testament saints after Jesus' resurrection. Yet no one but matthew mentions this impact memory.

Some things don’t seem to “make sense” in the gospels (more like truth in advertising) but are absolutely true.
You can throw any bunch of conflicting fictional stories together and argue that they can’t have been made up because it doesn’t make sense.
How gullible are you?
@@Columbo-r4z you’re missing the point. If people wanted to gain something and make a religion, the purpose would be to serve themselves. Why do people lie? 1.) to gain something 2.) to get out of trouble
What did the apostles gain?
-death
-persecution
-embarrassment
- loss of family members
-loss of money
-bad reputation
-torture
- conviction of sin (my favorite)
And what could the gospel have been used to get out of trouble?
- absolutely nothing because the government and the people hated those who preached the gospel and ordered for them to be stoned so more trouble than they would have initially not following Jesus
Why would a false religion be made?
-control(just take Islam for example)
-fear (another means of control)
- personal gain (wealth and respect of others) this could also be related to India in which the poor are called untouchables because they must have been bad in their past life, meaning the rich people must have been amazing therefore gaining respect.
Some verses that relate to why people CHOOSE not to believe in God
-
To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good.
-They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity.

@@randyhugheslives what do you mean other sabbaths? Sabbath is just one day.
@@randyhugheslives
I'm no defender of paganism by any means, but I've always found the whole sun god argument a bit disingenuous.

I just love the detail in the New Testament. I’m always telling people about how there is so much detail that sometimes it even tells the weather.
Yeah its going to be hot for a real long time ha ha
The weather? For what area? How does that work?
@@michaelszczys8316 Oh you jist mean the weather in the story. Not the current weather.

" it's only me , don't be scared "
Or when they are going to stone Him or push Him over a cliff and because He is God and knows the thoughts of everyone in the crowd He knows just where to go as He just walks right through the middle of them and gets away.

We know from scripture that there were many other works not committed to paper... So we are likely to infer that the information we have was considered important. Speaking the truth as it is for what it is should be what we do. Cutting and pasting scripture that forms what people want to hear is why people are not always educated on what’s actually said. Some people don’t open their bibles and only get their knowledge through videos like Frank Turek. If we are only preaching what makes Christianity look good is misleading to those who are looking for truth. As Frank says some people chase happiness rather than chasing truth. You tend to conform to your own reality of what the Bible says than what it actually says. I understand your point but if we skip the hard parts out of ignorance rather than obliviousness then we aren’t getting the whole picture. We can’t nitpick scriptures to appeal to the masses. We tell it as it is so that regardless of how you feel about what it says, you hear what it says, rather than what you want to hear.

@@rtee4086 The New Testament completes the Old Testament and fulfills many of its prophecies. God said he isn't a man in Old Testament, but he became flesh in Jesus -later when He was born in Betlehem. Jesus is the reprecentitive of God among people. In Genesis it says "then God said" in which God is in the original Hebrew language "Elohim" which is the plural of God. I think you can also find hints or "shadows" of Jesus in OT, for example when Abraham almost sacrafices his only son on the mountain (which was most likely the mountain which would later be called Golgatha) but then God let's him find another sacrifice. Almost as if God is giving hints about what his final plan is going to be. I'm only in the beginning of studying the Bible but these things fascinate me. My question with the casting out of demons is this, was it really that common back then for someone to be demon possessed? It seems like everyone's next door neighbor could quite possibly end up being demon-possessed in the Biblical times.
I think the population being way smaller back then might have something to do with it but not sure. And he left us with His Spirit so now a lot more of us are saved.. just a guess. Or Christ chose to cross paths with them in order to heal them...
Back then people didn't have the medical and psychological knowledge we have now. So anything they didn't understand, like a heart attack or schizophrenia, was labled as demonic possession. Nowadays most of the exorcisms happen in less educated area's like Africa for the same reasons.
Truth is, there is no way to tell what a demonic possession looks like, leaving it all to people's imagination.

Only Jesus doesn't say in Luke 23:3, "Yes I am a king." He says, "You have said so.' You're correct that John includes more dialog but you didn't add that here. John 18:33-37 reads: Again Pilate entered the Praetorium, called Jesus, and said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”
Jesus answered him, “Are you speaking of your own accord, or did others tell you about Me?”
Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests handed You over to me. What have You done?”
Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would fight, that I would not be handed over to the Jews. But now My kingdom is not from here.”
Therefore Pilate said to Him, “Then are You a king?”
Jesus answered, “You say correctly that I am a king. For this reason I was born, and for this reason I came into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
There's a lot more in there, beginning with, "Are you speaking of your own accord, or did others tell you about Me?"
But why would Jesus wait until the end of Sabbath to cure Simons mother in law, but heal the paralyzed man on a Sabbath? Am I missing something?

Excellent!
I believe in God and His Son, Jesus. I believe Jesus died for my sins. Where I struggle is believing everything in the NT was written by God through the apostles without absolute absence of human inflection and customary beliefs creeping in. Case in point, the women as first witnesses to Jesus' resurrection are left out of the Creed. Would you call this a lie by omission? Is it at all possible that there are other concepts in the NT that are chronicled based on the same belief?
Why were the books written? You must answer this before you can critsize what is inside of the text
Wait I’m confused on 16:36..... I understand you’re making a point and trying to show us the validity of the scriptures and their testimony. But I thought when he ask him about feeding the 5000 it was because he was trying to prove him as the scriptures say..... “When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.”
John 6:5-6 KJV.... can you explain to me how what Jesus said translates into how you explained it?
Faith comes by hearing, not by evidence.
It is God that draws man in, man does not seek God on his own, he is unable to in fact!
The differences between the gospels is due to their different agendas. That is why the gospels are full of contradictions, discrepancies, and omissions. They can very well be making it up.
How did John know what Jesus and Pilot talked about if he wasn't in the room?
