Our Story:
We are five years into a seven year effort of transforming 20 acres of "Piney
Grove" in Northwest Florida into our dream homestead/mini farm to be filled
with animals and joy. We plan to have a variety of miniature critters on our
pastures, raise free-range chickens, grow fish in our pond, garden
organically, plant fruit and nut trees, and harvest wild game. Our goal is
to escape the stresses of corporate life and embrace all that country living
has to offer as we enter the next chapter of our lives. Follow along on our
journey!

Our Kubota KX71-3 excavator has become invaluable around the farm. Here's our one year review: ua-cam.com/video/c_lnYwIgmT8/v-deo.html

Just posted a video to my UA-cam channel of my 1 ton excavator paired up with a TMK150 tree sheer. Crazy how well it worked for clearing trees!
Man, y’all have all the cool toys!!! That looks like a lot of fun!
They are cool until they break down....😢 But yes, it's a very fun (and useful) machine that I look forward to using every weekend!! Take care. Brad&Deb
Hey Brad & Deb! I wish I had enough land and land work to justify a mini-ex. That's a sweet machine. I can do all these tasks with my B2601 for sure but man that looks like fun! Nice work :)
Much more footage of "Precious" in action in the coming weeks. She has become a valuable tool for getting our property the way we want it. It was the machine we didn't know we needed until we got it! Take care. Brad&Deb
Just joined the channel 👍👍
Thanks for stopping by! Brad&Deb
keep up the good content
Thanks for the comment. Here's our playlist with the excavator...we love this machine: ua-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo0v6LnCFxPlQOxbi6tlXdB0.html
Mini-ex made short work of that -- looks like a prime spot for a big rattlesnake to hang out.
Lots more work for Precious to do!! Our neighbor has been there 20 years and he hasn't seen a diamondback rattler, but I did dispatch a pygmy rattler this fall along our driveway and a moccasin by a culvert. I've seen a diamondback up close in real life twice while walking....they are wicked animals. Gives me chills thinking about them. Take care Cliff! Brad&Deb
@@PineyGroveHomestead Yeah the moccasins freak me out. Fortunately where I live in Indiana it is mostly gardener snakes, have to go to southern Indiana to find Timber rattlesnakes. Look forward to seeing future videos
Does this mini ex require DEF
No, it's 24hp. No emissions. Here's our excavator playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo0v6LnCFxPlQOxbi6tlXdB0.html
You should drag that brush out and into an open area to burn instead of piling it in the treeline. Another thing you can do is to dig a big hole and bury it, use the extra soil elsewhere. But piling it up like that will create problems later on from my experience.
It will rot for awhlle until we buy a dump trailer to move it to where we can burn it. We got time. Thanks for watching.
@@PineyGroveHomestead yeah a dump trailer makes all the difference. I'm renting a machine just like yours this weekend, which is how I found your videos, and I'm getting a dump trailer along with it to move tons of dirt.
@@greghercher2068 It's a pretty capable machine and can be towed with a 1/2 ton pickup at 6300#. We have a playlist of our excavator work if you would like to see more of what it can do: ua-cam.com/play/PLG5yS75HLzo0v6LnCFxPlQOxbi6tlXdB0.html
@@PineyGroveHomestead I watched a bunch of your videos using the excavator, I appreciate the content giving me confidence in what I can and can't do with equipment. We moved around 250,000 lbs of dirt over the weekend from my neighbors field to my lot to level and create a better water shed.
I'm planning on buying a tractor this year, debating on a 1025r or SA324, any opinions?
@@greghercher2068 I think there are 2 brands of tractors to buy...John Deere and Kubota. That doesn't mean other brands won't work or get the job done. But JD and Kubota have quality products that last and a dealer network to back them up. Look up Rockhill Farms on YT...he just did a video on all the different brands of tractors. Brock has a 2038 and that is a small frame tractor, but he gets a lot done with it. To me, the best non-emissions tractor is the Kubota L2501 with hydro transmission. But for your two choices, I would go JD over Yanmar.
