I've been trying to find metal for the past two weeks and getting nowhere. Plenty of deposits but when I try to break them I'm told I need a stronger pickaxe. I need the metal to make the stronger pickaxe, so it's a catch 22 situation. This is really winding me up to be honest, but it's a great game so I'm persevering. I think something might have changed with the recent update. Any ideas?
Hey RetroSteve thank you for your question, i just tried it in the survivalists myself but the worst pickaxe (the flimsy pickaxe (green)) is able to mine metal. Therefore i'm thinking you are maybe trying to mine the wrong ore. Are you on the desert island with a difficulty of 2, if you are on the jungle or lava island you will only encounter ores which you can only mine with better pickaxes, like gold or gems. I hope this will help you with your problem, if it doesn't please let me know and i will see what else i can find!
@@Respawn-Gaming Thanks for the advice. You're right about me mining the wrong ore. Coincidentally, I found an island today - it was miles away from where my start point was. I found the metal nodes there that I was able to mine with the sharp flimsy pickaxe, so now my crafting options have been blown wide open! Two weeks of gameplay it took me to find that Island! I'll be setting up a second home there. Thanks again. 😄👍

@@Respawn-GamingIf you want to keep playing the survivalists you can try to complete all of the taskmasters tasks to get all of the legendary tools/weapons and if you really have nothing to do in the survivalists you should try maxing out your trinkets.
Sorry for the late answer, my personal live became suddely extremely busy. I hope i can still help you, both islands you are looking for are randomly located on your map. i cant help you find it, only give some tips. So best thing you can do is get a magnifying glass from the mysterious stranger. He will give one for free if you talk with him the first time. you can then scout your surroundings to find islands easier. But other than that its just luck finding the island you need, there are only 5 islands in total so your chances aren't that small. Good luck!!
The controls for this game are unbearable on the switch. The game was 3 dollars on the switch and I don't really want to spend 33 dollars on the PC version. UGH.
I've been playing this game for a couple of hours and this is seriously almost making me quit. The wiki says I can break these metal deposits with a flimsy pickaxe, which is just a complete lie. You need at least a lightweight pickaxe, and you can't build one until you get metal, which is almost impossible to find. I've found literally one piece of it in a couple of hours, and I've made it to two other islands. Even when I do find more metal, I don't even know how many things I'll need to unlock with it before I can make the lightweight pickaxe to mine more of it. I can't believe how unbelievably stupid the developers were to make it so early to progress so early on in the game before people might actually get hooked.
@@Domi_inks Thanks, I did finally figure it out. I was on a "second" island, but it wasn't the second island the game wanted me to find first because that was WAY further away than the closest island to the first one.
@@CarbonatedTurtle btw if you kill a boar on the second island he can drop sugarcane seed i recomend planting them in your base because the sugarcane raft is way faster then the wood one

Hey I think you mean a "Foul Meal" and you can make it at a camp fire with petals, long grass and timber. Let me know if you cant find the ingredients.

@@pxksele1172 Well you can't let them teleport in any way. So only thing i can think of is let it die during a raid (or if you can lure anything to it) and hope that after reviving it works again. Hope this helps, else im clueless....
Hey, for iron you dont need a better picaxe, but to upgrade it you will have to unlock it through the crafting tables. for the iron picaxe you will need a forge to make them
@@Respawn-Gaming I actually found the solution! First I needed the metal ingot and the flimsy pickaxe actually works on that! So then I was able to use the metal and continue on from there!
@@fantagerobloxandmore Awsome, I just rewatched the video and must say that i used a Lightweight pickaxe. This is not required and i believe you can use any pickaxe to mine iron. When i made the video i didnt even think about it and was more focused on the location an how to get there then how to mine it XD. Ill pin a comment tomorrow to make sure others will know this too.

Then you are on the wrong island for the start you have to go too the tier 2 island
