Hi Caroline, I was excited to see the video as we have a two night break booked on Burgh Island in November for my 60th birthday! It looks like everything I hoped. I am so sorry to hear about your dad and how his dementia has worsened during lockdown. Lack of social contact has a very debilitating impact on those with dementia, I can empathise as my mother really deteriorated when she had to stay home after a minor op on her leg. I hope you were able to enjoy your time together.

Two fabulous hotels, I really preferred the second one because of the beautiful beach setting, fabulous decor and great menu! Make the most of your time with your dad, and support your mum as she lives with the illness. It's good that you were all able to be together for that lovely break.

I just wanted to give you a big hug Caroline. Dementia is a horrible disease and after managing a home registered for dementia I know the awful impact it has on families. It does get to the stage when it is very distressing for the person to leave the home and be in unfamiliar surroundings. Your dad is lucky he has a loving family. What a lovely break you have had, Ashley makes me laugh. Xx

Morning Caroline, what a fabulous video, those hotels are just wow. If you're having a break that must be the one to for. Major cause of dry eye syndrome is antihistamines and blood pressure meds. Huge credit to you and your family for the your open and honest approach to dementia. I have so much admiration for your Mum and people like her who care for people with this cruel disease.

Caroline, dry eye will make your eyes run. I have it and I use Systane eye drops. A couple of drops in the morning and I'm good. You looked absolutely fabulous on your mini vacation! And what beautiful surroundings and hotel rooms. Perhaps one day I'll get to visit Boringdon Hall. Breathtaking. My heart goes out to you about your Dad. It is so difficult to see a parent deteriorate. Scary, heartbreaking, irritating, but mostly sad. Hoping your Mom has some assistance so that she can find respite some days. That would be so good for her. Thinking of you.

Wonderful, wonderful holiday you had. Beautiful scenery, and your brother I see has the same humour. My heart goes out to you and your family having to see your dad go through this terrible disease. My dads has escalated (pretty fast too) and now needs to go into an assisted living home. Looking forward to seeing you and Carla together again. xxx

I so deeply sympathize with you and your family to have to watch your Dad go through that horrible disease. My mom had dementia about 20 years ago, and then my brother developed Aphasia, another debilitating brain disease. It is so hard to watch our loved ones suffer through these types of diseases. My thoughts are with you. Thanks for sharing your wonderful getaway. It looked like beautiful places to be!

Thank you for showing us the beautiful places you stayed in Caroline, it was a treat. I would love to visit Boringdon Hall now so it's on my list. Love from Ireland :)

Hallo Caroline, I was sorry to hear about your father’s dementia. My friend has dementia. She lives alone and going through the lockdown on her own, has really affected her dementia and she has gone downhill. It’s such a horrible thing.
I enjoyed seeing your holiday and it brought back memories for me. My daughter went to Dartington College of Arts and we spent a lot of time in the South Devon area. Boringdon Hall hotel really reminded me of Dartington Hall. It’s lovely there.
I also suffer with dry eyes. I was recommended to use Hycosan Extra eyedrops by my optician. Unfortunately they are quite expensive in Boots they are around £12 and on Amazon they range from £9.99 - £12. I have found a triple pack on eBay for £25 which cuts the price slightly. I have also become allergic to eye make-up - horror of horrors! However I have found a website which sells make-up for highly sensitive eyes called Butterflies Eye Care. They sell all sorts of products for dry eyes. It might be worth you having a look on there. Hope you have a good week.
    Pamela

Hi Caroline, I have severe dry eye and use the red Hylo Forte which Amazon sell. My hubby and I are hoping to go to Burgh Island next August for our 30th wedding anniversary so it was lovely to see how amazing it is. Love your vlogs, I am a fairly new subscriber and have a fair few already.

Thank you so much, Caroline, for the lovely getaway video. I enjoyed it so much. The couple dancing in the dark outside was a little slice of magic. Just loved it. I burst out laughing with your comment about pouring the disinfectant down your throat and sent up a little prayer that Trump won't hear about that as another option! So heartbreaking to see the grief of dementia. God bless you and your family in the days ahead. XXX

I completely understand Caroline my dear dad had vascular dementia and myself and sister cared for him although we did get a little help. It was completely heartbreaking to see the deterioration but as we were involved day to day we just dealt with it the best we could and it wasn’t until after he died did we both wondered how on earth did we manage to do that. It’s now two years since he died but it took a good 12 months to get over this horrendous disease as you’ve no time to think about it during the illness. As you’re not seeing him everyday the changes will be quite dramatic for you. My advice is introduce as much help as you can don’t leave it until later as the person with the disease is less receptive to change - talking about it does help good luck and all the best xx

Tears ran down my face when I saw your Dad sitting at the dining table. He reminds me so much of my late Dad, in more ways than one. I feel for you and your family Caroline. Dear God it's a terrible, cruel illness and we never actually know what things are going through their minds. There isn't any subtle way to move on from that, so I will just add that you looked beautiful throughout your time away. Very glamorous. I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves. I too have always wanted to visit Burgh Island ever since I saw it featured in a film. I love Art Deco. Ashley looked very suave 😉 lovvvvved the 'patterned' shirt. Enjoyed seeing snippets of your holiday. So glad, that while very difficult, you got to enjoy the company of your dad. I understand your feelings halving experienced dementia with my mom. Wouldn't it be great if a cure or at least great help could be found ?
I had a similar problem with my eyes. I use Refresh Mega,-3. It is purchased OTC. It comes in little vjals...you twist off the little top piece and can put it back on. Each vial is said to be a day treatment but you can easily get 2 or maybe even 3 days out of it. . Hope you find something that helps.
You looked very pretty in all your holiday outfits.
    Take care....💕🌻

My dry eyes caused my eyes to run constantly. There are drops available at most stores here in the USA. The more expensive ones that last 12 hours work the best. But if poor like me the cheap ones can be put in two or three times a day. My daughter that works[I'm retired] uses the expensive ones and swears by them.

Peroxide and water mixed 50/50 and gargled will kill strep throat, but is hard on tooth enamel. Rinse out your mouth after 5 minutes. I take an ephedrine before going out with a mask and it helps. It's over the counter here in USA but you have to sign for it so a box lasts me usually a year before Covid. I'm on oxygen at night and will have a Cpap machine soon for Sleep Apnea, have one more sleep study to adjust the machine and to see if my O2 levels remain high on the Cpap alone.

I was commenting on the other video just before you took it down, so not sure if it went through but...
That Fabulosa spray is the same as the Dettol All-in-One Spray. It breaks down “live” virus spores on surfaces rendering it deactivated. Same as soap breaks them down. That’s why cleaning and good hygiene keeps viral infections (like MRSA) down in hospitals.
Unfortunately once you’ve caught a virus, you can’t kill it by spraying disinfectant up your nose 🤣 In the words of Dettol (after Trump’s similar recommendation regarding disinfectant to cure Coronavirus ):-
“While Dettol and other disinfectant products may kill the new coronavirus on surfaces, the makers of Dettol says "under no circumstance should our disinfectant products be administered into the human body (through injection, ingestion or any other route)"... so probably best not to try it Caroline!

When I see lovely old buildings like this ⬆️ it’s always a bit disappointing to know so many tourists (I’m looking at you Americans) only visit London. This looks a charming place, very old. My dear husband and I are booked into Coomb abbey, it was originally to be in April for our wedding anniversary but we had to reschedule because of COVID. Anyway, we are heading to Cornwall next month for our uk staycation. Next year, 2021 we are doing a week in New York and coming home on QM2, not queens grill though, steerage lol.
I love catching up with you Caroline, your chats are like meeting an old friend. I even chat back to you lol!
Oh, we have the same gray tiles only you have them all over (the leaf ones) and we have them just as one strip of leaves with plain gray all the rest of the way. Iykwim. I also have the same gray slippers as you, with the fluffy trim, but I don’t know where they’re from as my daughter bought me them.
Absolutely agree with always ending with a cheese plate, I _do_ love a well laid out cheeseboard with grapes, celery, figs, and a selection of blue cheeses (my favourite)
    Never change my lovely. 😘

Your runny eyes could be allergy related; you may have developed an allergy to your face cream, or your makeup or any other number of things (allergies can develop at any stage in life. I’m 64 and I have developed allergies, which now prevents me from wearing eye makeup) . You should check with a dermotologist and an allergist or even a naturopath to see if that’s the problem.
