    5 more episodes and I'll be onto the 3rd year. Great work on the cars and brilliant viewing. Keep up the great work.

    As a car audio fitter of 25+ years, the people who change their stereo, own, 80s, 90s and 00s models. The "old cars" are few and far between. And FYI there are "Retrosound" stereos available but in general they are cheap and sound terrible. Also ive never seen someone cut a dash with a grinder. Use an air panel saw and small handheld belt linisher my friend. Thanks for the great content.

    Really liking the Beetle vids! Rolling resto theme is very cool. Your skill with that huge angle grinder is second to non, lol. I have to agree with OscarTangpAtc about the lift I got one last year and it was the best investment I ever made, especially when working on a lowered Porsche (back saver) and time saved jacking a car up. Keep up the great work!!

    Ok...Mrs Jeff certainly won’t make a news reporter with bloopers like that every week.😁Totally agree with your comment about manufacturers not making modern retro audio units... I have been saying the same thing for years.

    I love your videos...I am in the market for an old Ford Bronco and when I was doing some research I came across a vintage styled shaft radio that has blue tooth. Really cool. I don't remember that it was that inexpensive though.

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff

      It was not as cheap as I would like, but it has a heap of different styles and button configurations. I think from memory mine cost about AU$500.

    Should have checked out classicindustries.com. They have lots of retro style radios that have modern functionality but old school looks. Great video as always. Keep up the cool content.

      but they're only plug n play for american cars. You would have to hunt down which one fits the vw dash. Retrosound makes a retro unit for vw. One on ebay for 159 usd

    I totally agree about the market for old twin-knob style car stereos. My wife and I want one for our '78 Super Convertible. I've looked on ebay, Amazon, and even put a "wanted" ad on Craigslist, and have not found anything worthwhile at a reasonable price. It seems like someone in China could be putting these together for well under $100 U.S.

      I have a Retro Sound unit in my 911 which looks great and works well from the little I have used it, but it cost me around AU$500, where you can get a Kenwood or Sony, or whatever unit with bluetooth, etc, for AU$100. Surely these manufacturers can just put a different face on an existing unit.

  • @emandbryce4500

    Retrosound do some great, reasonably priced stereos

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff

      I have one in my 911, but the big brands could do better and they could still be much cheaper.

    There are two companies that make retro style radios that I can think of off the top of my head. Retrosound and Classic Autosound. However, they are overpriced and based on cheap Chinese and Malaysian radios that would typically be around $19. However, in the days of bluetooth now, a lot of manufacturers make hideaway radios and amplifiers. There isn't really a market like you'd think there would be.

    i am sure you have thought of it Jeff, but would a couple of spacers behind you window winder be worth considering before you do your 'hidden speaker' job. . . . . i can just see a precious and highly glossed Mrs Jeff fingernail having a fight with a speaker....man with a lathe on standby !

    In the illumination settings you should have RGB, set them all to 9, and you’ll have white as the colour

    Looks like an electrician's radio mounting job..hammer and chisel......good to get that fixed up..so why does the speaker hit the window winder if there is a standard hole there in the door for it?

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff
      @HomeBuiltByJeff  6 років тому +1

      That is a good point, although those speaker grills were pretty chunky.

    • @gregh7457
      @gregh7457 6 років тому

      I'm just shaking my head at how ambitious he is with it and his budget being so small. Transferring all the bmw computers over into the 240 is a monumental task as well as transferring the suspensions. I think it's going to be a rat rod in the end unfortunately. If he pulls it off i will be really impressed. Hoping but cautiously optimistic. I like Jeff's builds, no flashing purple lights and flashy disco balls

      I think his target audience is 15-25 year olds with short attention spans that are easily distracted so he needs to keep the pace up. The polar opposite of project binky
