  • Hawaiʻi grows only 10 to 13 percent of the food consumed in the Islands. The State is pushing to double local production by 2020. A new study suggests that Hawaiʻi consider applying traditional Native Hawaiian agricultural practices and principles as a solution - especially with increased threats caused by climate change.

It would be beautiful to see more food growing on residential land. Inspired for more future positive changes!

I live on an island in the North Atlantic with a very different climate, culture and history, but we are dealing with many of the same structural issues. As we work on making food production more local and sustainable (as it once was) we realize many of the same things, including structural challenges and government misunderstanding, need to be addressed but also that food belongs to communities.
