I work at HJ's, i think they called the Baconator the "Baconmater' is because HJ's has a burger called the Baconator Deluxe - tho it's no longer on the menu, so possibly a patented name conflict similar to the reason Hungry Jacks is called Hungry Jacks not Burger King. Just a thought.
A lot of people suggesting this. Bit cheeky of HJs if it’s true, considering they have something called the Big Jack
@@FoodSack I do not know how the company won that, insane to me.
i still get carl's jr here in aus from the few that are still open, i rate because it feels like real fresh ingredients and i don't feel garbage after it
Whats the point in opening in Australia when half the menu is missing.
Im hoping over time they will add the rest of the menu.
They said they’re starting with a smaller menu so they can perfect it, then they’ll add to it
We discovered the American Wendy's when we were in New Zealand and loved it especially the baked potato with cheese and bacon for under $5Au.
I wonder if we’re getting potatoes 🤔
I was concerned that you would not go back for the bacon burger. Thank you for going back. Shame you did not get your extra sauce you paid for but at least it is not a whole burger you missed out on.
Yeah I completely forgot about that 😂
Was hoping you'd do a review today, Mr Sack - nice one. I look forward to when they get to WA.
Thanks! Hopefully they get there soon!
Wendy's was in Australia years ago... and eventually failed. We shall see how they fare this time around.
I use to live in the states and I can't wait for it to come to Perth. I would love some cheese fries
Might be a while before they get to Perth. Hope they do though!
Bloody rip off!
More affordable than crappy maccas
@Jeffro5564 no way.
I’m not sold on Wendy’s
Yes!!!
Yank franchise. Always.
I will check ty
The first Wendys opened in 1982 in Australia, and they failed last time. I dont expect them to last this time either
Yeh not with that attitude
Nope. In the '70s. They went bust in 1986.
Yeah it's a Bacon A Tor. Great video.
It should be, but Hungry Jack’s swooped in and stole it!
the prices are comparable to macas and HJ. theres just no way they would risk it being known as more expensive
thier not comparable to mcdonalds mcdonalds is 15 dollars for a large double mchicken or double qtr pounder meal where wendys double baconmater is 19 dollars for medium meal how is this comparable ??
Thanks for this amazing vid, been waiting on this since they announced, def a bit pricey considering Carls Jr closed due to pricing/inflation over here but will def support once it hits Melbourne. Looks YUMMMMM, good work!
🫡
I wonder if Greg kitchen or 2 aussies drive to wendy’s
Bit of a hike for 2 Aussie (he’s closer to Sydney) but Greggo is based around the Gold Coast, I think
Greggos probably en route right now
Grego is a hero. He will check it out
Lol all I can say is that "the burgers are better at Hungry Jacks" 😂
The country I live in doesn’t have Wendy’s I haven’t had Wendy’s in 15 years
I would literally murder to have one
Flying to a place with a Wendy’s would be more ethical
Your T-shirt is super cool
Thanks! Mecha Godzilla from Uniqlo, and I spilt a huge glob of sauce on it in this video 😢
The Melbourne one opened the day prior to this Gold Coast one.
$40 for a meal with a shake, can’t see them lasting more than 2-3 years at those prices
It did?
This is the only Wendy's location in Australia
The only Wendy's I can find in Melbourne is the Icecream/Hotdog shops in Malls/shopping centres.
perhaps the Melbourne one is not officially open and is only a Pop-up or beta test like the Sydney event?
their is no wendys in melbourne they have only opened one store
@Rodger_Phillips I remember those Wendy's, with ice cream and hot dogs, I used to wonder why Americans talked about Wendy's all the time thinking it was just that ice cream place.
The choccy Frostie is supreme for dipping your fries in! Vanilla is def sub par. Watching you bite into that Baconator made me so damn homesick! As much as I hate going to the GC, I’m gonna have to go and brave the lines. The Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger is a top choice if it’s available in Australia. Damn fine burger. And Wendy’s fries are the best!
The fries are simple, but done well. I forgot to mention the mild seasoning. They are top class.
They do have the Jr Bacon Cheeseburger!
Noted on the choc Frostie!
I lived in Canada for 9 months and discovered Wendy's burgers. The bees' knees I say.
Yeah I’m a fan. I kind of like the simplified menu tbh
@@FoodSack the whole leaf lettuce means you get a guaranteed amount on the burger unlike shredded lettuce where they'll give you bugger-all
@FoodSack so the patties are square and fresh/never frozen Australian beef? Could you tell any difference?
@multioptioned they have quite a fresher, softer taste and texture like five guys or some hamburger shops
@suave-rider I have read people saying Popeyes, In n Out or Chick Fil A would have been better than Wendy’s. Guess we need Americans to judge that.
Great review and so prompt👌🏽Felt for you sweatin bullets in the car tho espesh after they got your order wrong 😅
Haha thanks
@@FoodSack Why not sit in your car with the airconditioning on?
Too noisy
They are not cheap.
I will definitely check the Wendy's out thanks 👍
Carl jr use to be affordable but they upsize their prices to extreme and sadly burgers are cold
When one opens near me, I'll be eating it twice a week for the rest of my days. Wendys beats all the others.
Twice a week? You’ll be broke and sick
It's not the first American Wendy's in Australia, there use to be loads back in the 70s and 80s, this is basically a reopening, not a first at all in Australia.
he said that
@@wilddekardde Yep, but Wendy's seem to be hiding that fact with their false advertising about it being the "first."
More than likely a lot of the new generation wouldn't even know that it's been here before.. I was born in the 80s and didn't know they were here before now.
Waiting for a Victorian store to open.
@@theurbanyouth it is the first store as their is no other stores in australia as they closed them all down in 1980s
@ You just contradicted yourself there, the first store was back in the 1970s. Closing and then reopening doesn't make it a first.
Thank you for your sacrifice
Thank you 😅
Hopefully not another flop like Carls Jr
The QLD Carl’s Jrs seem largely unaffected… I still quite like them.
@@FoodSackthe Carls outlets here in SA were also unaffected, as they’re run under Agostino Group.
I never use a straw with the Macca's thickshake, and this looked like a solid bit of icecream that you'd have to wait to thaw
Apparently you're supposed to use a spoon. Dunno why they gave me a straw
$15.50 for a fast food hamburger…….. mate you can have that. I can easily think of four other American fast food outlets which would be better than Wendy’s to start up in Australia.
To be fair it was a quality burger. But yeah, a bit pricey.
And they arrrrrreee? Answer logically
Had this in no while on holidays. There the best. Glad there in oz now. Hopefully they head down the coast with more stores soon
😡😡 RIPP OFF PRICES FOR SMALL BURGERS AND MINI CHIPS 😡😡😡😡😡
Welcome to narcissism!
Carl's junior fail whale
There were two spots in adelaide. One was on Fullarton road, the other was at mitcham shopping center, this is not new and its definitely not the first time they've opened a shop in australia. - this was before 2020
Do you mean the Milk Bar?
@@FoodSack I did look up said wendy's afterwards, i may have been mistaken lol
@@wolvetica wendys burgers us were open in australia once before but that was in the 1970s then they left around 1980s
The ceo has stated they were trying Australianise some of their menu.
I wonder if that explains the ‘Baconmater’?
@ Hungry Jacks probably had an inkling about Wendys and released the Baconator in 2022 and likely registered the name. He told a lie lol
@@suave-rider there you go, these businesses seem to have a nack of covering copyright territory.
Yeah, Wendy's in the US doesn't have tenders and the chicken burgers are not tenders but fillets.
@@marybyrnes675 probably call them Chicken Sandwiches if the memes are true.
Hungry jacks did have a whopper baconator ages ago but this one from Wendys looks so good and hope they come to Sydney.
MUCH better than HJ’s Baconator (IE a Whopper with 4 slices of microwaved bacon)
