His eyes lit up and I told him I appreciated some of his music. His partner rolled her eyes whilst we discussed music for a short time. Nice chap.
The ironic thing here now is most of Scritti's back catalog is now licensed to Rough Trade. So all those big albums like "Cupid..." and "Provision" that were once owned by the majors have now found a new home. So the small label ended up winning after all.

Hi Scritti Politti, I still think you could come to Australia and make some money. What you maybe don't realise is Australia loved a lot of music before other countries did, like ABBA. I think if you came out here, 80's fans would come out of the woodwork and you would have a fantastic time :)

Seeing this vid, the only thing that comes to mind is that episode of Only Fools & Horses with Bunch Of Wallies if anyone catches my drift. Were they parodying Scritti??!? Amazing. Wow i hear they collabed with Troutman & Miles Davies in the 80s! Insane. OK I got some catching up to do with these guys. Brilliant.
While interesting, it's clear that Green Gartside and company did what they had to do get their music out there. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Rough Trade never has known what they want to be.

their cupid and psyche 85 was a great album and they did a great collaboration with Roger Troutman on boom, there she was....
