I would debate that Jackie Chan could be the one of the few aside Donnie Yen and Chuck Norris... But you do have a point.
Although there is a main consistent thing (mainly with Jackie Chan and Donnie Yen): They find their own path and not focus on becoming Bruce Lee, thus becoming legendary in their own way.
Yea true enough Jackie Chan and Donnie yen are great martial artists in there own right.Bruce has had an enormous influence on them though, and paved the way for them.

Bruce was indeed a once in a lifetime phenomenon never to be replicated. That said, I would be nice to see his story through Mason.
Jason Scott Lee did a Phenomenal job with Dragon The Bruce Lee Story...I know this was 30 years ago, but still a great film.
Hopefully these folks have a good script as well as actors.

I loved Dragon With Jason Scott Lee but hopefully this one doesn’t focus too much on mythology or fluff. Just want a straight up story on the mans life🙏
I sincerely hope he does a great job. Bruce raised that bar very high and it's tough to fill those shoes. With 5 years of training and rehearsing, he may turn in a great performance. Have my fingers crossed. The latest actors to play Bruce have done a decent job of the role, but there's always been something missing. Very few will be able to pull it off if there are any.

Andrew Koji did a good job portraying the character Bruce Lee. He did an amazing job capturing his small mannerisms without being too copy catty in Warrior.
I like anyone who tries to play or imitate bruce. I miss him a lot.

Ang Lee is the director who understands the traditional Chinese culture and zen philosophy. You know his crouching tiger, hidden dragon is a master peace, if you actually understand zen and meditation. If any director can get Bruce Lee right, it's Ang Lee. Let's hope the movie turns out great.
I started my lifetime voyage in martial arts in the early 70's, right in the middle of the Bruce Lee heyday. I owe a lot to his inspiration.

I love the idea of leaning the script towards the making of Enter the Dragon. I had the book about that production and that chapter of Lee´s life alone will fill a feature film for sure, good luck! 🙂
So excited for this new film. "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" was good - but just did not quite give Bruce the justice he deserved on the big screen. Very glad to see that Shannon is involved. This will be legit!
might not be legit my man. in the Dragon the Bruce lee story and the legend of bruce Lee, his back injury was attributed to conflict with the opposition rather than an injury caused while weight training during which he damaged his fourth sacral nerve. Sacre blue Bruce let's hope next installment is more accurate. the Virtuoso deserves it.

Your video work is very well done. I learned a lot about Bruce Lee through his best friend Leo Fong. It is nice to keep his legacy alive as he is the greatest pioneer in promoting martial arts worldwide and the founder of MMA.

Ang Lee immediately gives the movie cred
People need to remember that Mason lee is not impersonating or to BE Bruce, just an interpretation of who he is as a person to tell the story. He also has an acting resume unlike the Afgan bruce lee who just may look like him but hasn't got the acting ability or speak fluent english.
All the better because Bruce have an accent also. Duh!
I bet he will do a GREAT job! A lot of folks have tried. Ang Lee is an AWESOME director and filmmaker. He wont do anything to dishonor Lee or his legacy! I for one cant wait to see it! He may be the one who truly understands how to bring Bruce Lee back to the screen through his son. Going to be very interesting! Shannon Lee is involved as well as excecutive producer!

@@k14michael why do you feel that way? I don't know much about this other person. I don't think hes even Chinese is he? I heard he looks a lot like Lee. And I heard he's very skilled. Ang Lee has the right to choose his star though. I think his son's been training for 5 years for this role. He's who Ang Lee had in mind for it. Probably set in stone by now. I don't see the dishonor respectfully. Plus Bruce Lee's own daughter is heavily involved in this production. There's no dishonor. She most probably would NOT allow or go along with that! This ship is set to sail. Give it a chance. Or don't. Up to you. I'd like to see it.

Several reasons:
1. Abbas being training for 15 years vs 5 years for Mason. Abbas been training three times a week since he was 14 years old. He’s now 29 years. So that’s like a black belt in JKD. But JKD don’t have any belt system so….Thus Abbas can almost replicate many of Bruce iconic martial art moves. I haven’t seen Mason’s moves. But it probably safe to say that it’s not as good otherwise it would have gone viral on the internet by now. Abbas’ videos has gone viral by the way!
2. To Abbas it’s not just “a movie”. It is his way of life. He lived and breath Bruce…I know it sounded weird but if you ever been a fan obsessed with Bruce than you know what I’m talking about.
Can Mason said the same? What is Mason motivation? Oh, my dad promised me that this will be my breakout movie. Lol.
3. And the most obvious as you have stated. Abbas looked a lot more like Bruce than Mason. The nose, the cheek, the eyes…especially the eyes! He’s almost like the incarnation of Bruce!
4. Plus lots of people on the internet do not like another Bruce imitator but said that they would pay to go see Abbas if he were to play Bruce in the movie.
So back you your question as to why do I felt that Ang Lee is being dishonor to Bruce’s legacy. And you’re probably right, which is Shannon probably don’t have a choice in the matter.
But Ang Lee have a choice. Why not pick the best person (physically and emotionally) for the job? You don’t want another Jason Lee fiasco. But he choose to pick his son over a better person. So I don’t think that would honor Bruce memories!
@@k14michael thank you for that very good synopsis. You broke that down well. I'm gonna have to check the young man out. I still don't know what could be done about it though. It's politics involved obviously. Maybe Lee's son will do a good job. I haven't seen any of his work, so I can't really give a totally honest opinion. Doesn't really matter what I think either. Just hoping the movie will be good no matter who stars. I appreciate your response. People can disagree without being mean. You just proved that. And actually, I'm not disagreeing, just don't know who would be a better choice honestly.

It’s going to be interesting to see if the film makers go for a romanticised version of the story, with Bruce being some sort of “fighter”, or whether they take a more realistic approach and focus on Bruce as an entertainer with a dancing and theatre background.

Oh go away. Only one bruce lee. I was 12 when he was around. Resulted in me doing martial arts for 20years. Still a legend to me. You get these little jump starts every few years

Well it's good that they are paying tribute to the greatest martial artist that ever lived. However, It's very unlikely that anyone playing the role could ever "replace" Bruce Lee. He was practically super human.
I can't wait to see it when it get's released.
Idgaf what no one say, dragon the bruce lee story was the shit when I was a kid. Yes, I know the movie isn't all that accurate, but Jason Scott Lee did a wonderful job imo still. Hopefully Mason can deliver something on this level.

I met Ang Lee years ago after he made the Hulk movie. Really nice, humble guy. I'd be interested in seeing if Mason can properly portray Bruce Lee's personality without the silly caricatures of Bruce's fighting noises and mannerisms other actors have done that have come off as cliches a stand up comedian would do. It's extremely doubtful Mason can really portray Bruce's athletic prowess since no one has been able to emulate Lee's speed, violence of action and timing.
Danny Chan Kwok-kwan looks exactly like Bruce Lee & did a great job of portraying the legend.
Jason Scott Lee portrayed him best for me and Dragon is a great movie, exaggerated but still a great movie. I hope this movie can be as great

I think the Afghan Bruce Lee is the only logical choice. He is Bruce Lee in every way. Mason Lee only resembles Bruce but the Aghan guy more than just resembles him, he mirrors him. I have waited a few years for the Afghan guy to appear in film. I have never even seen or heard about Mason until you brought it up and after what you have shown, knowing the dedication of the Afghan guy I feel he is being cheated. I would not pay to see another cheap imitation but I would pay to see the Afghan Bruce Lee ! How did this get past Shannon Lee ? Where is her heart ? This is quite upsetting to know . Mason Lee is Ang Lee's son, the director. He is not Bruce Lee's grandson. Shannon only has 1 daughter.

The guy that played Bruce in the movie “Dragon” was OK but he and no one else ever captured Lee’s character and mannerisms on screen. No one ever embodied that role.
Bruce Lee is an iconic and beloved figure, and obviously very hard to portray on screen.
I hope this new guy does a good job because we all are still waiting for a great Bruce Lee movie

When the did a reconditioned version of Star Trek with young actors: I though they did a pretty good job. The proof will be in the pudding here as well.
Golden Bell ( so much to say about this topic) Jason Scott Lee's story about Bruce seemed Harried & not particularly a good description of Bruce's growth as a film ⭐ & martial artist. Shannon produced the best version of her father's life. I 🤔 she'll give a better account of Bruce's life. What annoys me a 🤏, is what those who connected to The Ip Man Wing Chun community is they ignore the fact Bruce Lee wasn't about JUST Wing Chun! As a martial artist Lee was much ,much more than that!! There's 12 fighting systems Bruce studied during his lifetime & Shannon Lee was the only producer to ever exploit those styles in the last Bio flick of her dad. The great legacy Bruce left us with should be taken with time & precision.
It could be nepotism or not but think about it...he can speak the language, he looks ALMOST identical (to me at least), he has the same height, his voice could sound just like him when he speaks in an accent, and yes admit it...hes working with his dad so he can be more comfortable and relaxed during filming to concentrate, rather pressured to play an iconic role that billions look forward to. He qualifies more than it just being so called "nepotism" I really wish him the best!

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story was a good film but I think it had too many scenes that were unrealistic. Hopefully this new Bruce Lee biopic will be a lot different from Dragon.

I have serious doubts, that this dude will be able to Mimic Lees speed, and fluidity. The only artist that Ive seen mimic Lees on such a level, was Sammo Hung, in "Enter the Fat Dragon" (watch the fight scenes near the end of the film). Sammo being an excellent actor as well... able to sort of capture Lees Mannerisms (of course, this film was a comedy.. so everything was exaggerated in a humorous way).
The amount of training, isnt as important as the TYPE of training. To develop lightning fast limb speeds, requires a specific kind of training / drill set. If you dont do that specialize training, then you dont get the same kinds of Attributes... and you will never come close to them. This has been the main issue with all of the other Lee impersonators, that Ive seen over the years.
