I've had my Formentor VZ1 245TSI for 2 years now it's been brilliant! Luckily I've had no major issues with mine apart from a dozen infotainment reboots but nothing that has annoyed me. I easily get 40+ mpg on a run. Get around 37 mpg per tank which isn't too bad. It's due to go back and be replaced with an Audi A4 Avant 40 TFSI S Line , i will definitely miss it!
how crazy - i literally swapped the other way in 2022 (although my a4 was a 'black'). same infotainment issues as you by the sounds of it, been back into dealership 4 times already. most extreme time was when it just refused to start on xmas day "ERROR: Drive System - Please visit workshop" thankfully it was ok on boxing day. As for the MPG, i celebrate if i get high 30s on a long run....i have done 14k miles in it now and it has averaged 32.7!!
I have a Formentor VZ that I've purchased in nov 22 and I have zero issues fortunately. Best car I've had, no doubt.
I've had a Formentor V2 1.5TSI since last July & I love it.
I was looking at the Formentor VZ, but I think it's too expensive. VW nowadays has substantial discounts on their models, so I'm gonna wait and see. In fact, the new Tiguan sparks my interest but the hybrid is not yet available on my market. Its German pricing is so high, tho, when in R-Design... Not too far off from BMWs and Mercs. That's absolutely nuts.
And yes, one thing putting me off is Formentor's infotainment system. VW just cant do them right, or maybe now they can as the recently unveiled Q6 proves. But man, for that price tag, I want something that works.
Got the vz2 310 on order. You mentioned a good stereo. I have ordered it with the beats stereo. Did you have the same ? Thanks
Excellent test, Tim. I'm somewhat ambivalent about these photofit VWs, but this seems to have a character of its own. Refinement seems good, too. Are you going for a Hyunda Tucson N Line? or some more exotic? A Lambo Urus in tracción en las cuatro ruedas?
Not a Hyundai (or Kia, for that matter)
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff Lexus RX? NX?
Finally reviewing a car that I own.....had It 8 days short of a year! Love It and it turns heads everywhere I go...glad you like it and as per excellent review...
Thanks!
Turns heads in your head
Cupra bottom of the table for reliability. These facts need to be mentioned.
So Volkswagen are bad on reliability ok pal
I wish the Infotainment system on my Cupra Formentor was as reliable as yours. I could write a book (well maybe a 4 page A5 pamphlet) on all the issues I've had with mine over the past 2&1/2 yrs. It's a lovely car to look at and to drive, and I'll miss it when I switch to a Peugeot 408 GT in a few weeks' time, but I won't miss the infotainment system.
I was surprised mine had no issues to put it mildly. I've heard similar horror stories to yours!
@@TimRodieDrivesStuff I think a lot of the VAW group cars had issues with their infotainment. My Ateca was a bit of a pain for the first 6 months when I got it in 2021, but a few over the air updates sorted it.
i hear that bro!!
So! I had a CUPRA formentor vz2 on a 2 year lease which I extended for another 6 months and just gave the car back. It was black and having grown up in the car industry (my dad owns a garage) I loved driving it and was practical for a family of 3. I unfortunately started encountering one big problem which was when the lane assist/cruise control was on, the car would say (in effect) it’s not working, and as opposed to simply turning that off, the whole system started to shut down and I ended up breaking down on a motorway where an a road joined also. Not fun when you try and get out to ring the AA and cars are zooming past but fortunately traffic literally stopped when I pulled my 2 year old daughter out. CUPRA had the car for a week, gave it back and the problem happened again to one of my dad’s team when they picked it up. Their customer service reviews are terrible and the cars are generally in for a long time which is a real shame as the car was brilliant for those first two years. I would love to get another one for the practical/fun car it is but am slightly concerned with the electronics, with CUPRA not fixing the problem fast (if at all) afterwards.
I don't think they know how to fix the problems with them. Seems that all the systems are linked to the Infotainment system and that just wets the bed constantly. I gave up taking it back to Seat/Cupra as it kept doing the same things almost straight away after it had been supposedly fixed. I just see it as the next owner's problem now, unfortunately.
Tried it recently, and found my previous gen Leon Cupra better in most ways. The only big step up is the infotainment, which I barely use.
I don't think they will ever top the MK3 Leon cupra, that thing is a beast, I still have mine but it's been heavily modified.
Had a 190PS Formentor as a loaner while my Allspace R Line was in for some minor repairs.
Not as refined and definitely more hatchbacky.
My Allspace has the 245PS Gen4 motor and been Stage 1 mapped to 335PS and I can get about 38Mpg too.
Much rather have my Allspace than a Formentor. YMMV
I think it’s a well designed car and it looks stunning ❤❤
Got the vz2, nice car but infotainment is riddled with bugs, always flags up warnings and errors with the sensors ( front assist, sign recognition etc).
The wiper blades on the front are constantly tapping the top right of the window which pisses me off.
The hydraulic steering is overly loud when turning sharply.
All in all i do love the car and i think a lot of the first model issues will be fixed with the facelift version due out this year.
Heated seats...
Voice control or hit 🟦🟥 temp buttons together on your side of the car.
I’ve got a Cupra Leon PHEV which is very similar to a Formentor and unfortunately reliability has not been good. Since delivered in Sept ‘23 I’ve had a dead infotainment screen (which also means no access to climate controls, hybrid modes etc), randomly refuses to start sometimes, emergency call system is bust and cabin lights that sometimes flick on and off by themselves. Dealers are inundated with warranty repairs so I had to wait 7 weeks for infotainment fix. Shame as great car when it works….
Nissain X-Trail?? I actually NEED one.... but as usual it would have to be the top spec and the misses is pushing back a bit on starting an Only Fans to pay for it!
Hahaha. It's not a Nissan!
My guess for your next SUV is the Alfa Romeo Stelvio or Jaguar F Pace
The new vw group infotainment systems are all good finally fixed
Really ? New ones or also 2022+?
In Spanish you can sometimes hear people say just Cuatro por cuatro (4x4) 😊
LBX Morizo RR ?
It's a bag of daz. Every journey starts with a lovely bong as the car tells you something isn't working. Usually front crash protection. Everything about it screams of cost cutting. Plastics from a 1980 datsun. Lane assist that's constantly trying to shove you into oncoming cars on country lanes. Infotainment akin to doing a rubix cube while driving. This is the first vw group car I've owned and will be the last.
The same issue I’ve had on every Touran for the past 17 years, front sensors are compromised then all the driver assists don’t work.
Skoda superb is overall better value but the formentor is really nice
Going for an Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2ltr?
Ding ding
"It feels like a seat leon that's been sort of jacked up" is funny because that's exactly what it is. It's as different from a leon as a t-roc is from a golfl.
Evertime i see a formentor i think they look terrific.
Bet the next choice is an alfa stelvio?
Correct!
Mazda cx90, Range Rover or Tesla next whip
I should be so lucky!
Ford Kuga? Mazda CX-something? Alfa Tonale? Dodge Durango with a Hellcat? Or Citroen weird looking new thing.
One of those brands is correct...
Just go get a Golf R estate (mk7)? Gives you everything you need plus a big boot.
I've a real soft spot for those. Pretty rare, too!
I tied to hire the Diesel Formemtor recently, but got the ‘similar’ Renault Duster instead 🙄
Is your next Rodie wagon an Alfa Stevlafolio?
Cuatro mentales 😮
There's a diesel Formentor?!

In LHD markets 🤓
What if Arona has Cupra version😮
The abona
Is your new SUV a Lexus?
Nobody ever mentions “my bum is cold” voice control which enables voice control negating touch screen garbage. VAG missed a HUGE TRICK to detract the haters by not marketing the voice control…then again 99.9% of people want turny knobs.
Also you can set up the annoying artificial noise or remove it in Indiviual mode or even turn off completely.
tracción en las cuatro ruedas
Sehr gut
I’ve got the 1.5 petrol with the auto and the fuel economy isn’t much better in that
What is your city and highway (140km/h) consumption?
Mpg can't really be compared to the golf it's more a t roc rival
True. Still worse than the last T-Roc R I drove though
Computer says no ❗️🤓
Volvo XC90??
Nooooo
To turn on heated seats on this you dont need to go trough that menu, you can simply touch with two fingers (V sign) on that temperature selection touch sensitive nonsense.
Sorry, but the incar camera angle could be better
Apologies for the free content. Left my GoPro at home that day
Don't bother with the sliders, just tell the car "Temperature 21 degrees." or "Make it hotter/colder." if you just want to go up or down a degree, and you're done. You don't even have to tell it who's asking, it knows if it's the driver or the passenger making the request. Same with the heated seats, just talk to the car and it will do it, no need for menu diving.
I've had the VZ2 310 for 2 years now, and it's nothing but an underwhelming buggy wannabe Audi.
Alfa Romeo Tonale? It's definitely a European car. Hope it's not the boring Kuga.
Not a Tonale, but close. I've had a Kuga before and it was boring but quite good at being boring
How close? Like 500X close?@@TimRodieDrivesStuff
@@menifo4334 it’s an Alfa…
My formentor v2 was perfect for 18 months, then the screen shat the bed, took 6 weeks for cupra to fix
genesis GV70
You said it was left field
Not *that* leftfield! As in: someone's actually bought one of these
Kuga...
Nein!
No thanks!
Recommend not buying one then ;)
