Remember these are some examples of MY past experiences with these items. Whether resale value is important to you or if you prefer to live in the moment, ALWAYS follow your heart....that’s most important, plus you’ll enjoy it more ♥️ Thanks for watching 💋

Rasheedah Hatchett No worries Babe! I’m so happy you’ve had better success with some of these items ♥️ I was just sharing my personal experiences with pieces I’ve sold and the hits I took on them. Thanks for watching 😘

    • @helenaha9754
      @helenaha9754 6 років тому

Rasheedah Hatchett light colors vernis leather ended up turning yellow badly. I had both vernis silver and beige. Both of them looked like having yellow coated on the surface after 10 years. I sold these bags but I still couldn’t get the price I paid for even not close no matter how much Louis Vuitton price increased. Meanwhile the classic speedy holds resell value very well. If I sell my speedy to a consignment store today I still can get double price I paid for. That is only my experience to share.

If you love a Handbag it will always be in Style !
Don't buy handbags because they're classic or trendy, Buy because you love it.

I think prices on the secondary market are really over the top for some items, driven by Fashionphile, Vestiere etc. I'm not paying retail for a beat up slg that is widely available! Some people expect to get 100% of what they paid for it back, which is crazy unless you're talking rare items. If I sell a bag on eBay or IG I try to have a realistic expectation on price and I accept that I have to pay for my time using it. I try to pick things that are not too trendy on the whole that I'll enjoy long term flaws and all. Really interesting topic x

Bee Rachael Agreed! I’ve also noticed price gouging, which as you said, when selling an item be realistic. Thanks for watching Sweetie ♥️

Agree, some people even expect resale value to go up higher than retail after being used. Probably trying to cheat people

Regarding the colors - I see all the time that people prefer neutrals and I can understand why but I never worked this way. I always loved color, in fact a lot of my even more expensive bags have patterns and while they can be classified as non-classic & trendy I love them and actually have figured out what to wear them with :) For the longest time though I was "afraid" of red bags but when I came across the most beautiful and useful red bag I've been carrying it every day and I can just see how it goes with my entire wardrobe. So, don't be afraid of color :) black is not always the easiest choice.

Such great info. I have dabbled in the resale market, selling some pieces that were being neglected in my collection. I will also say that with fashion houses like LV, once you go over a certain price point, it becomes harder to resell. Canvas is always going to be easier, Monogram and DE more than DA. If you buy a bag that’s over 2k at LV, you have to keep in mind that will limit you in resale (unless it’s a very rare LE bag). Not everyone will want to spend over 2k on a preloved bag, even if it’s pristine. They could easily get something brand new in boutique and get “the experience”. I kept that in mind when I bought my Pallas; I really made sure I would want it forever. Thanks for making this video, Minnie. Good point about hot stamping or Mon Mono. I’ve only hot stamped my 6 key holder because I’m gonna rock that piece forever 💕

After many many years of buy ing and selling experience, the resale value always come to my mind. For some brand I know the resale value is very low , then I will never pay full price to buy it. Good example, I love Louis Vuitton capucines, but I just can not pull the trigger, I know this bag resale value is extremely low. I have to wait for good price and conditions in preloved markets. Awesome video ❤️

Another highly informative video! This is beneficial for people, of all ages, who are starting or downsizing their collection. If I could add something, it would be to watch for items that are becoming passé. As people are dressing more casually today, be mindful of items that would be hard to sell. These include scarves, brooches, watches and fine jewelry. God knows, I have been searching for a quality body powder puff for three years now, with no luck. Why? They have fallen into disuse.

I don’t purchase luxury items based on resale value..bc they’re luxury items that I want period. I don’t expect it to impact my financial portfolio. I must love it first and foremost ..I don’t purchase preloved nor will I ever sell mine. Sometimes too much emphasis is placed on bags as investments. And that tends to mean I see all the same bags....but your video on this is the only one I enjoyed watching bc you’re honest about your reasons and don’t come off like lecturing others like some there’s tend to do. Thank you!

I’ve noticed extreme price gouging on the pre-loved market. For things that are popular but still around. I can understand a item that has been discontinued for awhile or limited edition pieces. But normal black pieces that are still being made? I’ve been taught that ANYTHING once used loses half their resell value. Bags, cars, books, home goods. So these people trying to sell items for retail price when it’s been bought AND used it’s amazing to me.

I totally agree with what you said. You either buy a trendy bag and sell it whilst it’s still sold out and highly sought after or if you want to use the handbag for longer and sell it after the popularity starts fading down you most likely are going to lose some money. I think when it comes to trendy pieces you should buy them and enjoy them and not think about making a profit out of them. I also completely agree with what you said at the beginning of the video with Hermes. I do not own any handbags from them as they are way out of my league but it’s probably the only fashion house in the world that a color could potentially bring you more many than a neutral. Let’s face it some of the colours they do are just stunning. 😀

I find this so interesting because I’ve never considered resale when I have purchased luxe items for myself. I have never experienced pitting on my Clics. What a shame I unfortunately wear the GM so most I see in the preloved market aren’t for me. I’ve recently gotten into preloved scarves. I stalk eBay, but I only buy Ferragamo (reasonable) or Hermes (often over retail for some designs). I agree about colored bags. Hey I have a beautiful orange Montaigne that my husband gave me but it’s harder to rock than even red. Much harder than my neutral bags. Thanks for sharing. Much love.

I just bought my first luxury item. It’s a pair of Givenchy black hitop sneakers. (I’m a guy). I found them for 250 at Nordstrom Rack. They’re pristine. I know in the case of luxury shoes, these won’t fetch much if I want to resale them but I figure for my first buy, it’s a good start.

Oh Minnie you are such fun to listen to and to hear your own personal experiences is so good, because I feel you're right on all the points you made, thank you for speaking to us and I, like many of your followers like your advice and it is always welcomed, I love myself love everything Chanel and my bags are all black, I love, like you other colours, and when I see them I grab them so fast off the shelf in my excitement - oh dear then I remember my life style and back it goes, and that decision always turns out to be the right one, even though I'd love a colour but haha I'd only ever just look at it on the shelf. Love from across the pond. Xv

I completely agree with you about coloured bags. I only have a small number of high end designer bags and they are all in nuetals. I also love pops of colour and have several of those, but they are all lower end designer bags. Then if I only wear them occasionally, or they don't have a good resale value, who cares? If I only paid a small amount for them it doesn't matter.

I see that, for the caviar pieces there are some with the seam indentations around the flap and others without. (I see you have the one with the seamed edge, and I believe current season act ii does not). Why is that? (Do people even notice?) Whats the wear? Structual changes and durability? Thoughts?

Resale value on a damier azure? I'm like you and would love to wear the DA in spring and summer. I have purchased 2 pre loved slg's and a delightful MM that were all pristine EXCEPT when I received them they were so yellow-ish. I did return all 3. My question is, how do you store your DA items? Do you find they've yellowed? Both pre loved items came with dust bag and box. Perhaps storing them in the box turns them? I ordered a delightful MM and NF GM but haven't received them yet but now I'm thinking I should send them back. thanks Minnie!
