Hahah I've had a similar experience before with a German. My mate's girlfriend is German and I mentioned Hitler in front of her. Her face went sour and she yelled at me that I can't talk about him in front of her and Germans because the Nazis were such a disgrace to their history.
I laughed and told her to f#ck off because we were living in Australia and she can't tell me what I can and can't say. I nearly said to her that she sounded like a Nazi, but she would have flipped out if I did.
